Winter 2023 DLC Speculation

Yeah. I have the same feeling. I don:t think we will ever have a definitive version of Spinosaurus lol
I mean we now have a complete skeleton across multiple specimens more or less. So in theory there isnt too much that could change.
But watch this guy get wings in the next paper that comes out 😄

okay let's get back on track here...

If it's a mountain scenery pack, what scenery should it have?
I never really care about the specifiy themes so i dont really care if its themed himalayan, andean or even native american. Aslong as there are nice pieces im happy.
A Mountain scenery pack would be the perfect opportunity for a new more jagged rock set tho

These flags and whatever else that suits the himalayan theme

I kind of hope we end up with a scenery pack for Himalaya later on and then what is left of good mountain species will show up in other packs.

It is not hard to find 4 good habitat animals for this area and Himalaya-themed areas in zoos have become quite popular lately (at least in Europe), so it makes sense.
It annoys me a bit when the theme and some of the animals don't match like we have seen before. I don't want Andean bears and geladas on my Himalayan flags.

Option 1: Himalayan
Seriously, go look up the houses and temples from that region. They’re beautiful.
Option 2: Contemporary Native American
I’ve looked it up, and it seems like a nice blend of modern architecture and native American art and building techniques.
Option 3:
Something like a Swiss chalet. I was going to also bring up something Norwegian, but after looking it up, I figured out that the Arctic Pack scenery took a good bit of inspiration from it, especially the Heddal Stave Church, the Hopperstad Stave Church, and the Borgund Stave Church (Basically three stave churches. Huh. Now I can build a church in Planet Zoo.).

A dedicated himalayan scenery pack would be cool in the future. Although i think they would have to cut the pallas cat from the mountain animal pack in that case so they can use them as a headliner in such a pack.
Pallas, thar, yak and monal seems like a reasonable roster to me.

Yeah the inclusion of these random animals in the statues and so on always bothered me aswell. I mean i get that you need scenery for the red river hog in the tropical pack, but and indonesia statue of the hog doesnt make any sense. Id love if they would include some more statues of fitting animals we already have. Babirussa or tapir in the tropical pack for example.

I bought JWE2 over the summer and I like it
I was rooting for PK but I’m too frustrated with its development and what not
Foliage is simpler, guests don’t complain about viewing as much.
Customizing buildings is a fun except for me as guests don’t want to see the same thing at each place, the different entertainment places I think are fun.
I really like the aviaries and lagoons.
But first and foremost I’m a PZ fan

I still think it will be an animal Pack. They could also Switch to the 19th as release date. The latest DLC did receive the .1 much later than the Updates at the beginning. And perhaps they are convinced to either fix mistakes very quick or that there is no need for a fast further Update.
But nevertheless. Next week should be very likely the week.

I like this idea of a highlands/mountain scenery pack in theory... But I think once you pull away many of the animals the roster goes from "!!!" to "eh" purely because it limits geographic diversity (which is one of the biggest strengths of this particular biome theming, IMHO).

That said: I back a Native American/North American scenery set at some point before the game ends!

It's also one of the reasons why I think we are not getting Mountains pack. I feel like it's one of the most logical scenery packs left and we expect an animal pack right now.

I see we have two topics going on at the moment. Here’s my stance and opinions on both of them:

Prehistoric Kingdom like someone said earlier feels like an unfinished version of PZ. I quickly lost interest in PK because its building system seemed almost overwhelming. The scaling for all pieces is just too much for me, I know there are a lot of things one could build with the scaling feature, but idk I just couldn’t get behind it.

I do have faith that the animals in that game will be the best of all 3 games (PZ and JWE2) because they’re already working on a variety of animations like swimming and pack hunting and interactions etc. If this is what they’re creating on the road to the games launch, we’ll probably get even more with new packs and updates like JWE2 and PZ after release, whenever that happens in the next 5 years when PK actually releases lol.

As for scenery pack for Mountains,
scenery in the form of three additional habitat species
This pretty much sums it up.

No but seriously for a mountains pack I’m on board with Himalayan scenery set.

Although I still full heartedly think it will be an animal pack that releases on the 19th.

I'm not sure why people are so deadset against the pack dropping on the 12th and them just adjusting the reveal pattern (e.g., dropping two images in a day) or something. They've released the December pack in mid-December for the last three years and we know they're very likely going to be closed the week of the 19th...

That feels more likely to me than them going "Yeah, we're gonna release a pack while our offices are closed."

They released the Arctic Pack on the 17th, and plus we don’t know what frontiers plan is, they could just release it a week from Christmas then update the bugs after the break in the first/second week of January.

I don’t see them speeding up the schedule that fast though to 2 animals a day. A pack needs time to build up suspense, and while it worked for Oceania cause it only had 5 animals, an 8 animal pack fit into 1 week, it doesn’t seem like it will give all the animals the spotlight they deserve and it will feel rushed.

Most places can run until the end of the week for Christmas, not everywhere gets the entire week before off.

I feel like a lot of these "Himalayan" areas popping up are basically just snow leopards, red panda and then one other random species. I wish there was some more originality. Like here in the UK there is multiple Himalayan themed areas with snow leopards (honestly I think at least 10 by now) but literally only one zoo with caprines in its Himalayan area... and luckily it is a good one. At Highland Wildlife Park the snow leopards share their enclosure with markhor (not at the same time, they rotate) which provides a sense of enrichment in smells and stuff.
