Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

Is there really a game out there where you pony up some money for a "congratulations you have won" ending screen?
Games that put copyright checks literally a minute before the ending?

I farmed up 1M using the SRV tow method (was planning to buy a bunch of cargo for the hull C and see if it could be dumped on area 18 to create a persistent box hell), but then something exotic happened. Story time.

So, I'm leaving Seraphim to do UEC related things (was going to go see about disabling the crimestat thing) and I get shot up by some guy camping it in a reliant. The missiles, they do nothing. Ship goes into soft death and I'm still alive but I'm in my cool dude outfit that doesn't do so well in a vacuum. The guy comes over to check out my cockpit and seems amused and is rotating the reliant. I eject into space and start sucking vacuum and things fade to black and it's a RIP. But no. He's backed up and got me inside and I'm just incapacitated.

He doesn't seem sure what to make of it at first and doesn't speak in chat (or I missed it), initially just tries overdosing, but then seems to realize I'm just [odyssey]ing around, too. Gets his friends and they revive me and we go run around whatever those NPC killing missions on Orison are, I just stay in my outfit and avoid getting hit. Eventually they take me back to Seraphim, still alive.

So, the sales are over and funding is dropping.

What I don't get is why CIG simply don't do sales all year round. They could make a lot more money from people thinking they are getting a great deal on their hundreds of dollars ships.

They practically do now, since 2020:

And that's not all of them, just the major ones.

But yeah it is kinda perplexing that they wall off the top items for most of the year. It obviously works for them, but you'd think they could still pull off the artificial scarcity / FOMO routine at a higher cadence.

(Perhaps they just don't want to risk limited stock sitting around on site unclaimed? Some of the elan starts to wear off if it seems no-one wants this stuff ;))

Ship sale events all year round:

Plus August's Ship Showdown sale, and sales for concept ships, flight-ready ships, and gold standard/reworked ships.
