Winter 2023 DLC Speculation

@ro South America is not well represented it’s as simple as that. Howler, spider, wholly are just some of the medium sized monkeys we could get. Brazilian tapir, coati, rhea, spectacled bear, ocelot, Mara literally the list could go on and on.
The animals mentioned by you as missing from the game for South America were also mentioned by others. The list does not go on much except possibly with very little known, niche species. I would also like to see an extended list for South America, with iconic species, well known throughout the world, not only by zoology enthusiasts.

What species are missing from the well-known and representative ones for South America? The jaguar, the anteater, the llama, the puma, the maned wolf, the sloth, the tapir, the capybara?
Not so much large aside from the Rhea and Spectacled Bear, but:
Ocelot
Howler monkey
Spider monkey
Squirrel Monkey
Coatimundi species
Patagonian Mara
Alpaca
Brazilian Tapir
Bush Dog
The Tamarins and marmosets
Scarlet Ibis
Marsh Deer
Brazilian Porcupine (not as well known but I cannot leave them off this list)

They just gave 8 species that a number of people have agreed with. if there’s one thing that 90%+ of the forum typically agrees with, it’s South America lacking in terms of biodiversity and key species.

If you look at it that way, iconic, not niche and well known thoughout the world species only. Then were done besides the walrus maybe

Going off of things only zoology enthusiasts know. I only learnt what a wisent was like a year ago from these forums. While things like tapirs and Macaws I've known about since I was 5.

Totally agree that some people are on here imposing their choices.

Kind of like insisting South America has “excellent representation” and not taking anyone’s perfectly legitimate lists or examples seriously by disregarding them all as “too small” or “not representative.”
I did not say that South America is excellently represented, it is your interpretation. I just said that South America has most of the iconic species, well known throughout the world. While Europe has to settle for clone species for the iconic animals that make up the continent's biodiversity. And to consider that Europe does not have biodiversity equal to South America seems to me an error and a lack of knowledge, even if nature has been seriously destroyed in Europe.

@ro, monkeys alone are missing from South America. The most common, charismatic animals are missing.

Howler monkeys, spider monkeys, tamarins, marmosets, uakaris, squirrel monkeys, even a 2nd capuchin
That's also not to count the various birds that can already fit the game mechanics: ibises, spoonbills, curassows, screamers, ducks, swans
And then we're missing some key mammals: spectacled bear, mara, alpaca, guanaco, vicuña, tamandua, Brazilian tapir, ocelot, Chacoan peccary, bush dog
And don't even get me started on exhibit animals: two-toed sloth, vipers, boas, anaconda, frogs, even bats

So, no, South America is not well represented. It's not even close. To be honest, as happy as I am with a fair amount of Oceanian animals, I actually wished that South America got that treatment first since those are animals that people worldwide are far more familiar with that the little blue penguin or the spectacled flying fox.

A factor to consider is that there aren't many European animals worldwide anyway. Whole we're missing some key European species, there's just not a whole lot other than the wisent and boar (forgive me if I missed anything else, y'all).

But there are countless lists of South American species, and whole many more or less are similar, there's also a huge, huge chunk that are different

So about how people lack knowledge to think that SA is more biodiverse then europe:

Just gonna put this here.
I think u see what I'm getting at.

It is very strange that many members of the community of this forum complain to the point of tragedy about the animals that are going to be introduced in the game through the next DLC. After a year in which the DLCs contained only exotic animals for those living in the northern hemisphere, Frontier brings a package with animals specific to the Eurasian area. A DLC that was needed. Animals from South America are strongly requested, but South America is extremely well represented now in the game with most of the large species specific to the continent. A few small monkeys are missing, which, due to their size, would not even be too visible in the game, being more suitable for the exhibition mechanics. Europe and Asia do not yet have their own defining species: Saiga (NA had, since the launch of the game, Pronghorn), Takin, Gaur, Yak, Muskox, Markhor, European Bison, Wild Boar, Roe deer, Chamois, Mouflon and even the European Brown Bear, which is much smaller and thinner than the Grizzly. They are not so exotic for those who live in the northern hemisphere, but they define the fauna of the area where they live and many are animals with a unique appearance.
It is hard to understand the hatred and rejection of the presence of such species in the game!
Here is where you say South America is extremely well represented. Not sure how it is my interpretation

I said that South America has most of the iconic species, which define the continent, already in the game. While Europe has clones: Grizzly, Timber wolf, American Bison.

I wouldn't agree. Europe has the red deer, fallow deer, badger, lynx, ibex, and then a few from North America, like the moose.
If you wanna stretch it, then the polar bear and reindeer are European, too. Aren't reindeer associated with Denmark? And I know that Iceland deals with the occasional polar bear

Good point, here's one just on terrestrial mammals which is the games main focus:

It's pretty much all South america, central Africa and south eats Asia. The 2 latter regions already being far more represented.
I'm excited to see the roster for the next DLC and the update. Would be a good way to start the day and for me to forget PoT for a bit and the dimetrodon pair that killed me twice
