Eurasia Animal Pack Hot Takes

Its fits eurasia, but doesnt really fit the eurasia pack imo.
The rest are northern species and even the trailer and theme revolves around the cold and snow, not really what id associated a bear from the tropical jungles and grasslands of india with
Yeah that's makes sense, it's why I felt something from the mountains like a pallas cat or markhor would been a far more suitable animal to pair with the rest of the roster. Even the saiga doesn't feel too out of place but the sloth bear feels like throwing South Asia a bone to avoid making an Indian pack.

Yeah pallas cat or yellow throated marten would fill have been a better fit as a carnivoran.
Or if the saiga was a blackbuck or nilgai, that would also help the bear not stick out so hard

I wonder if the sloth bear (I'm not mad about it, I just want the other bear species, too) was a direct response to the near-universal criticisms of the Arid pack. Now we're complaining about the opposite thing. It's probably good that there is a tropical large carnivore in there. While a primate might have been preferable, it's still different from anything else in the pack.

I think the Sloth Bear Integration is a sign of Frontier planning to include the residual Bear species. There is probably No other way to include them as Forests belong to the American Black Bear and a Potential Mountain or Americas/Latin America Pack belongs to the Spectacled Bear. Wide stretched opinion I know. But we are Here within a Hot Takes Thread.

I hope so!

Imagine not being hyped for Starwars Antelope, I could never.

Wisents to me are just the bison2, but they don't bother me too much, especially since we get 4 very good animals and 2 less-so-but-still-welcome ones.
Sloth Bear makes me fear a bit for the Spectacled Bear, my ultimate favorite bear species.

The saiga is also extremely overrated and I do not understand why anyone thinks it's any more different or special than any other ungulate in the game. It's got a funny nose. That's literally it. That's about as big a difference as between literally all the antelope in the game. It's extremely niche and makes no sense as a zoo animal outside of Russia and Kazakhstan. And before anyone draws a false comparison, while rare the kiwi and platypus both exist outside of Oceania in zoos.

Anyway, I don't plan on building a wildpark, so I feel justified in not being thrilled with the Eurasia Animal Pack. The swan is good. The sloth bear is a weird choice but I'm not mad about it since I can only imagine how much this place would weep if they gave us the EBB instead, and India needs more anyway.
Stay mad, what is it with people with Kiwi avatars and EBB love and Saiga hate? I've seen two already.
They are very much realistic lovers that don't want other people to have fun or something.

You say ‘realistic lovers’ like it’s a bad thing😂 there’s different ways to play the game other than yours and that’s fine.
I for one am a realism lover, but I like the oddball every now and again. The only one I can’t stand is when they take the place of a much better option, example:
HBB -> EBB
Brown Throated Sloth -> Two Toed Sloth

The Saiga and Proboscis Monkey, I stand by, are good additions. The Proboscis Monkey not so much personally, but if it makes others very happy, who am I to judge.

The reason we want the Eurasian Brown Bear is because it is a MASSIVE part of European culture, it is a staple of European wildlife and features in SO MANY European Zoos. Yes, it’s a realism argument, but that doesn’t make it invalid. I can understand why it’s not such high priority and that’s fine - I’m not clamouring for it immediately. But I would love its inclusion one day, as free anniversary content or as an easy filler species.

I really don't care for realism, I play games to escape the boring realistic world we live in.
I hope we get shoebill and leopard seals just to turn realism lover mad. (and I really love both species, among my favorite animals in the world.)

How would it harm you if people who want realism get what they want? There's already a bunch of cool animals in-game, it won't kill somebody to get a Eurasian brown bear just like it won't kill someone to get a pink panther

And that’s fine - that’s your way of playing. Good for you! That’s not the way all of us play, and that’s fine too.

I hope we get the shoebill, it’s a great animal. Leopard Seal isn’t for me, but if it comes, so be it. You gotta realise that every pack is going to introduce a lot of realistic species for a zoo game because this is a realistic zoo game. And it may include a couple oddballs. Just be grateful for the content we get, because it won’t last forever.

Im generally more fond of the realistic picks but im more than happy to get the rare in captivity animals aswell.
But i think it stinks abit that for some picks there are no alternative for those who would like a more common pick, saiga and proboscis fall in here.
They would be much better received if we had a asain antelope that is kept in zoos and a common asian monkey, or more monkeys in general to chose from.
Something like the platypus stand on his own imo since there really isnt an alternative

I want to verify one thing. I have read some literature before, which states that all European bison currently are not pure-blooded European bison. During the process of captive breeding, they have been crossed with other cattle. Is this true?
Right and wrong.
This propaply is about subspecies not cattle.
Long story short, there once have been only 7 wisent remaining, 6 of the polish subspecies and 1 bull of the caucasian subspecies.
These 2 subspecies have been crossed to ensure a diverse gen pool, even if that technically made them go extinct on a subspecies level, as they arnt "pureblooded" anymore.
Since then there have been efforts to differentiate the subspecies again, but as you can imagine in that context eventhough they tried to keep the subspecies mostly differentiated again they have been mixed but no cattle has not be bred in, not even american bison

It could refer to american bison. Apparently there is no pure american bison left on Earth.
