Community Event / Creation Thrustmaster Warthog Configuration & Sheets

I'm hoping to find those files too. Lots posts pointing back to the Original post in the thread but as the above poster said the links are broken

Sorry, my bad. I was reworking my web site, where the files are. Must have deleted them when I re-installed the site.

I'm back home on Friday, so I'll make sure they are all working again.

Sorry...

Fantastic! Thank you MikeTT. It seems no matter how long I search for a profile to get me started it always points back to you!

Ok folks, all links restored.

Again, apologies, didn't expect the site install to wipe existing folders first, but you live and learn ;-)

As a side note, I've not updated these in a while, as I've actually had no time to get into ED for about 2 months now. If any of you good folk do create your own versions, based on mine or not, then I'll happily post it into the first page. The more choice and configuration options available the better for all I figure...

So has anyone had issues with this since the update yesterday?

I can no longer simply copy over the bindings file and get your bindings. It *did* work until the update yesterday but now I actually get an option called "Thrustmaster Warthog" in my options for controls and the map is different.

I've not been on with ED for a while, but I thought there was always a Warthog control option, but then if you wanted to customise this then it would automatically drop to custom.

However it's always possible that an update breaks the older custom.bind file.

Not in a position to check myself, so if anyone else can shed any light that would be appreciated.

i haven't been playing, waiting for BETA 3 but i'll give it a go this weekend

Edit: i gave it a test, the binds still work in the new version. you can call the file whatever you want and it picks it up.

I've read this thread from beginning to end.

Is this still necessary with Beta 3??

If I open up ED I can see my TM listed as a controller option. What is gained by going through the steps described in the OP ie importing the config into Target and then mapping in ED??

I've just picked up ED so I'm staring with Beta 3.

Hey CJ,

I've been playing since Beta 1, and even then there was a TM HOTAS profile. My controllers were automatically recognized. However, MikeyTT is correct; if you change anything in the options, it automatically goes to "Custom." That's not to say that it wipes out the entire profile, just that since it's not the stock TM profile, it'll go to custom if you change even one option. That being said, using the TARGET software that TM provides has never been a requirement. I do use it, however. Why you ask? Simply because it allows for a bit more flexibility if you want it. For instance, one of my bindings (the binding file provided by MikeyTT originally), will lower my landing gear AND turn on my landing lights. One switch, two functions. That's just one very simple example. I'm sure very complex commands could be bound to a single switch, if the user is so inclined.

anongw65 is spot on. I don't think you will ever technically need to use the Target software to play ED. But it can enhance the experience and provide the cherry on the cake if you like.

I would try both, with Target and without, then see if Target gives you personally anything extra.

Mikey, how did you make such nice diagrams? When I try to print your configuration or any configuration from TARGET I get a much nastier looking diagram (link)

To those of you who are using this configuration, what do you think is the most practical way to map the 'set to +/- 25/50/75/100 speed' settings? I figure I might as well use voice commands for those (if they still prove useful at all).

It's all magic and fairy dust :)

Actually that's not completely true, if I'm honest ;-)

I have a template with the background and then use Photoshop to drop the text in. I can dig out the blank templates when I'm back home over the weekend if you wanted.

Im still confused a bit- (hi and sorry im new here) as to why you don't just take "Classic keyboard" settings in the ED config, and them use TARGET software to map the WartHog gear to that?
That way no matter what gets wiped later, if theres a "Classic Keyboard" setting and you have mapped the TARGET config file to that then you would be good to go... Correct?

Or do I just have this all wrong? Please excuse, as I am waiting for my HOTAS to arrive and just reading all I can now to not be totally ignorant when it arrives ; )..

Thanks for the answers in advance...

You are right to a degree. I think I did start with the default keyboard mappings in target, but strayed slightly when I hit problems (tho can't recall what they were right now). So some will be mapped to the original keyboard controls. However some controls, due to the advantage of the software and the switches are better using other methods, like DX mappings.

There is nothing to stop you from remapping the controls in Target to the default keyboard controls if you so wish. I don't see why the Target software wouldn't load on your PC before the HOTAS arrives. You could have a play around and try it for yourself.

I'd be intrigued to know if the standard keyboard mappings do map perfectly to the HOTAS.

Mike...

Im gonna try to play with the TARGET software too. Thanks for that heads up...
Oh yea, why wouldn't the standard keyboard mappings not map perfectly?
I mean why would you say this? Have you seen things not map correctly within TARGET Mikey?
Just wondering...
