What did you do in Planet Zoo today?

Used the Opportunity with the really cheap older DLCs to get some new ones. Twilight, Wetlands and North America.
Then I've prepared everything for my japanese Zoo to move (selling and releasing Animals, also from the Trade Center because it was always full. Taking a small Selection of Animals to keep and created Blueprints of the Entrance, the Big Cat House and the Chimpanzee House). The new Environment is gorgeous. I knew when they've announced the new temperate Asia Map that I'll need to move the Zoo there. Because of Lack of Creativity, the Zoo is still named Hokkaido Zoo though. Currently still collecting Money to rebuild but I've already started to keep some of the new Species (Red crowned Crane, American Alligator, Egyptian Fruit Bat and the Danube Crested Newt). I'm planning the new Version of this Zoo since Years already. I'll build two Red Fox Enclosures there. One for the Wild colored ones and one for Silver Foxes. Still missing the Sika Deer for the Zoo but I guess I might keep Fallow Deer again instead, even though it would be awesome to keep the native Deer Species.
All of the new Animals already bred successfully except the Newt. Hope I can start with the real Entrance Area tomorrow

Feels good to be able to fill in this empty shell:

Got a new computer up and running just in time to throw some takin and sloth bears in the san diego zoo and start to close up the zoo. The project has been a fun on and off 2 years but the zoo is far too big and 0 motivation remains to continue.
It wouldn't help with motivation, but I can't help but wonder if these big-ass carparks a lot of you guys build are eating up performance for kind of no reason. Like they look nice, and they're realistic, but since they don't serve an actual purpose could you not get more out of your zoos by just leaving it out?

I never build them, mostly due to laziness (and, as I said, because aside from looking cool they're kind of pointless), and just have my entrance near the map border to "imply" parking and so on beyond it and I've managed to build some pretty big zoos in the past (granted, with far lower piece counts and no real building interiors unless absolutely necessary, but still).

It could be possible, its basically a huge path plaza made up of dozens of 10 metre path grids paired with around 5000-6000 pieces for all those parking spaces, jeeps and details. That's 6000 pieces for just... pointless scenery I'll only appreciate once or twice. I'll experiment with that in my next recreation, maybe just make a tiny portion of a car park instead of trying to build the full size versions.

Spend hours building, demolishing and rebuilding a gift shop! This is the end result.
It's pretty simple but I really like those simple yet effective shops.

Love this new mechanic! It's so easy to use yet you have so much creativity!

Why with Path? I do always use Floor Pieces for it and put Guest Spawners and Paths below. This does especially make it easier to hide the Spawners. What I also love to do as a Guest Spawner is to build a Bus Stop. Also allows to realistically get away with building a Parking Lot that has way less Parking Spots than Guests

Looks great 😊
Didn't build one myself yet. The only Thing so far that I don't really like, is the limited Amount of Plushies and other Souvenirs. A Penguin Plushie would be nice for Example or a Tiger. 🤔 I should take a Look if the Panda is flexicolor. Even though the Head Shape doesn't really fit at all, I could still try if it would look enough like a Polar Bear Plushie if it's dyed white

Finally Time now to continue building in the new Location for the japanese Zoo. I hope this Time I will get enough Money to rebuild the Entrance from the original Location. Need a bit over 300.000 for that

Why with Path?
I could be looking at 2000 floor pieces to get an idea how big realistic parking lots really are. The parking at san diego zoo is the size of the average zoo a planet zoo player builds so either way, path or pieces it will have a performance impact when trying represent 1500+ parking spaces.

Finished the snow leopard habitat and started working on the takin enclosure and surrounding areas today.
Above of the snow leopard and takin habitats I'm building a little snack bar area. This is actually the highest point of Biopark and if a takin is standing on the ibex enrichment mountain (which I really hope they can use), it's going to overlook the whole zoo. :)

I usually build small ones and road that goes into a tunnel and disappears. You can make big zoos in the game you just have to sacrifice something usually foliage, paths and scenery pieces and the biggest lag causers in bigger zoos. I usually keep scenery simple and foliage to a minimum and my zoos can get pretty big lag free

Ok this is definitely destroying your performance. Paths are the number one lag causer that I have found scenery pieces would likely be less laggy

So, I played a bit more on my big. I probably need to look at packing it up and "moving it", though. I think it might just be too big to make money now.
Got several of the newer animals added. Since my Himalaya section was already "complete", I just add an off shoot to the vertical path I already had cutting though my Bactrian Camel and Wild horse exhibit. Gets a back side view of the Snow Leopard Habitat, and a lovely waterfall I made for the Takin.

And lastly I realized Mute Swan, Wild Boar and the Wisent all had enrichment bonus with Red Deer and Fallow Deer.

So they got tossed into that massive 7.8k M^2 behemoth.

Tomorrow, i gotta try and fix my money problem. I've pretty much run at a loss for the last 20 years and my 700k chest wont be full for very long. Hopefully more animals around my three other zoo entrances will help, along with advertisements for animals on the opposite side of the zoo.

Do have to add, I was not enthused by the wild boar at first. Too similar to feral boars. But this screenshot changed my mind on it.

Eastborro gets a Gift Shop!
Tanglewood Trading Co. is located next to Marco’s Creek in the Wonders of the San Marcos section. It is named after a neighborhood in the city of San Marcos and its appearance is based off of Maswik Lodge, the hotel I stayed in when I went to the Grand Canyon

As my game kept crashing yesterday, today ran smoothly.
After work got on PZ and started working on buying new Eurasian animals.
I added Saigas to a P horse habitat. Holy heck they are very small, I don’t know if it’s just compared to the P horse but the Saigas are smaller than I thought.
Splitting time between my Europe Zoo and my Asian zoo for animals that belong in each zoo. At some point Il log onto my Indi zoo for the sloth bears and boars, then at my bear zoo Il get a pair of sloth bears.

Finally got enough Money to place the Entrance of the old japanese Zoo in the new one, created a really nice Staff Area, got a few Crane Chicks, bought a few Red Foxes, a Silver Fox and Macaques and built a Enclosure for Fallow Deer in the Entrance Area. But now I'm having a weird Problem. No Matter what I do with their Water Sources, the UI always claims that they aren't accessible and the Zookeeper also doesn't fill them😕
Does someone know how to fix it?
Edit: ok, I've restarted the Game and now they are full and the Deer were able to Drink. It still shows it as inaccessible though and all the Food Stuff too. So I'm still worried

Decided that it didn't make Sense to try to fall asleep because I need to be awake early, so I've built the Japanese Macaque Enclosure with a Indoor Area that includes a really nice Hot Spring (didn't see them properly bathe yet though). In the last few Minutes I've used the Time I've still had to start building the Enclosures for the Red Fox and the Silver Fox. Unless I've somehow missed something, only the Cranes will still be needed after that to finish the Native Species Area.
Edit: forgot to mention, the Problem in the Deer Enclosure fixed itself after the last Restart of the Game
