[MEDIA] KUMO Crew Lesson 4: Don't be rude

She didn't do anything of all that... all happened in same system and CMDR didn't wake, leave, change game mode etc. when he/she had the option to do it.
Come on, it was a sort of a tongue in cheek remark, I know she didnt do that :)
Obviously if she keeps targeting the same commander and stalks them over several sessions, things may look differently

Are you sure you are talking about Open?
Because what you are consenting to seems to apply to something like Mobius Private Group where rules like this apply regarding PvP.
In Open play, your consent is irrelevant.

That my friend, is reality.

Nope, this 👇 is reality, and this is exactly what i was sayin in the first line of the post you were so kind to quote

Open mode is not a PVP mode, its an all inclusive social mode.
PG mode is not a PVP mode, it's an invitation based social mode
PVP being just a part of that social mode play, possible in Open as well as in PG - and is NOT specifically mentioned nowhere on that screen.

And this is what i'm consenting by joining in open - only to the possibility that i will meet you if the stars properly align
No further promises - since what will happen next depends on my mood and the quality of our potential interaction - however there is no implied PVP consent in my choice or anyone else's choice

Nothing more, nothing less

And once more, if you really like this topic, come over at the Hotel California topic

Never happened, as it's not needed outside trading routes.

She has also many haulers in the friendlist and they keep coming just for some challenging game play.

"In open play you may encounter other commanders connected via this mode"
Not every interaction you will encounter will be a positive one.

I agree that Open is not strictly a PvP mode. However, it is a mode that allows PvP interaction/engagement regardless of your consent to said engagement or not. If I was hell-bent on taking out a ship I encountered, chain interdicted them in a system, then as a result of that managed to destroy a critical module like FSD or thrusters thus securing a kill, there is nothing in the Terms of Service of Elite Dangerous that prevents me from doing so.

It’s simple really, you play in Open, you better be prepared to swim with the sharks. Because flying around saying you don’t consent to an engagement or you won’t be subjected to a PvP encounter won’t prevent you from eating a rebuy.

I haven’t even touched on tactics or ship builds yet. Once a player realizes what they are getting into with Open, they have a choice. Either play in Solo or PG or build a ship that can withstand an engagement and has enough HP to enable you to high-wake out of the engagement. Not to mention the various tactics that can assist with a PvP encounter like this.

CMDR Harry Potter said something along the lines of this a few years back and it always stuck with me, "People would actually have a chance of escaping in Open if they didn’t fly around with the equivalent of a chair strapped to a frame shift drive.

Maybe instead of complaining about PvP players you just have to Git Gud :)

I think you got fussed over nothing.
I'm not complaining about PVP. As far as i'm concerned, PVP is fine if/when it happens between likeminded cmdrs. And not only it's fine, but it can be insanely fun and entertaining, for all parties involved

I just mentioned that chain interdicting the same commander over and over again, IF Reported (big IF) as harassments, can lead to FD taking measures against the offending cmdr.

So, again - i'm not complaining about PVP nor about getting ganked - the only time i was ganked (in 8000+ hours spread over 3 accounts in 5 years) happened in an AX CZ where my shieldless ax ship, already damaged by the encounter happening in that AX CZ (2 hydras were in the instance at the time) was exploded by a ganker - there was a pair of them and they basically ruined that AX CZ and some other too so i had to block both of them to be able to enjoy some AX CZ action in open together with some other likeminded random commanders.

However, what i'm actually complaining about, is the assumption made by gankers (specifically them but also by PVPers in general) that Open=PVP and people consent to PVP when joining in Open.
Nope, No, No, No.

PVP is just a really optional subset of the interactions possible in open and not specifically something i consent to - as mentioned in the Button description for Open selector.
And if i dont like the quality of the interaction i have with a certain commander - i can block them and make my game better, which is the ultimate goal of my gaming - to have a quality time and not to entertain a 3rd party at the expense of my own entertaining.

So, it's not about me getting good, but its about pvp'ers managing expectations in ED - not everyone is enjoying PVP being forced upon them, and also joining in Open is not something that can be decided by someone else except the player themselves

"go to pg/solo" is nothing more than a karen type of entitlement which usually leads to "there is no one in open, game is ded" and then to "plz make bgs and pp open only"
Which is a succession of events that always manages to make me go 🙂😊😄😁😆😂
