Does Elite development ends in 2024?

Imo, to me it looks like ED development already has ended. It ended with the failure of Odyssey. Today they have a franchise that has less distribution channels than previously. It's degraded seriously in selling potency. They would rather look into publishing something new.

Players "we want legs"
FDEV "here it is, legs for you"
Players "hippeeeeeee"
...the game comes out
Players "wut? unplayable!"
FDEV "that's what you asked"
Players "hmm ok, but I dont like it, byez"
....

Still love this game. One aspect that raises some apprehension for me, as is often the case with live service games, is the potential impact on content and invested game time in the event of server disruptions. A reassuring factor for me would be the inclusion a transparent plan aimed at mitigating such situations. I'm not saying it has to be an off-line version. Seeing a decent long-term maintenance mode plan, if applicable, could suffice.

Also, focusing on bug fixing at this stage can be beneficial, offering an opportunity to address past issues and allowing developers to delve deeper into understanding the game's engine if this is the goal. This not only facilitates the resolution of major problems but also provides the game with some resilience and allows it to concentrate on quality instead of immediate project goals.

So there's nothing wrong in being a little "undead", but on the flip side undead means it's not going to die.

There's a whole thread on why it wasn't possible to put EDO on consoles and fast forward to 2024 (which is what the thread was about) Legs are not only playable they are alive and kicking,

Well put. I said I think the development has ended already. It doesn't mean the story won't be delivered. Au contraire - the stuff is figured and ready to be instered. The whole "made to deliver content" shtick they waved around while promoting Odyssey is this story arc delivery model. They have some text and someone who manipulated some dials in the live game (simplified) and that makes the whole story telling. The key is that they can do this without coding assets. They just need some story input.

Hello! personally i'd like to know if there will be new content! if the game is only moving forward on the story well? i like the story, the thargoids but i'd feel like i'm wasting my time! and i'd go elsewhere and the studio's silence would rather point to an end to the game! and that would be the last time i'd be fooled! starfield and many like ubisoft are already paying the price! the games are legion but without passion except for the money!
So!? So?
the question is: what are the studio's plans for the game's future evolution?

there's over 700 Tourist beacons to start with.
Almost any surface ones that would refer to something of historic importance of local feature - ever since oddy relase, dont are relevant anymore. Just text flavor wich refers to something that dont exist anymore. Not an majority, but quite of few are like that.

IMO, it's somewhat disconcerting to take tourists to see something which isn't there. :D

They really ought to fix those up so that there is an ice geyser to see next to a tourist POI for ice geysers, etc.

And now I want an update that introduces kicks!

We have punches, which were nerfed shortly after release, however kicks should be able to destroy an Anaconda, as they're meant to be.

Possibly with an engineering upgrade that makes them explosive. And loud.

Back to topic: ED can't die until my CMDR can kick.

Interesting but not sure what you mean, can you give me an example?

I'm ok with continued development ending, although that would be disappointing, i don't of course expect Frontier Developments to make a loss but the game is great (the greatest) as it is. I'll be happy if i can continue to play in solo offline mode, like we did with Frontier Elite 2. Elite Odyssey is too beautiful to turn off, that would be a travesty, in my opinion.
Maybe in the near future (i'm old) Elite would rise again in the form of Elite 5.

Wouldn't it be nice to take out the entire command center using martial arts and some throwing knives?

Maia 5c, the first barnacle site ever found. The surface poi is now middle of nowhere (nearest barnacle is quite far away in this planet), while it should be right next to very first known barnacle site ever found by cmdrs.

The Anaconda Graveyard - HD 76133 - 1c - Tourist beacon 706 is also middle of nowhere, wrecks are not present in oddy. This is very low from fdevs, it was conclusion of first distant worlds expediton, it was memorial of importance for almost anyone who took part of it (more for those who actually crashed there). Now when a new cmdr would visit it, they surely would wonder where those wrecks are.

Its preety much same of any geyser, canyon, mountian etc. tourist beacons, as since oddy relase, every planet got "changed", settlements well as poi's got shuffled or removed/changed with only few exeptions (engineers sites or jamson cobra site wich was put "back" by devs are only fews), but sadly most of surface tourist beacons did not had it be put back like that.

First two mentions are sites of historic importance, while cmdrs such as I, who been around when these events happen, well as visited them at some point, its just sad that they are gone. And I doubt these will ever go back. Fdevs dont care.

Of course, legacy still has it, but thats hardly count.... point is, that if someone such as like I would like to re-visit it, but this time with my own "legs", its not viable anymore to do so, just waste of time atm. Im not intrested seeing empty sites, I might well as just read it again in my codex, its preety much same, but with major diffrence, that I dont need go see it at person.

That'll be the Chuck Norris DLC where you can kick anything instead of shooting it pressing E. Want mats from a Brain Tree? Kick it, want mats from a geyser? Kick it. Want juice from bio, kick it, want to book a flight, kick it, want to get goods from a container, kick it! Really looking forward to it myself.
