Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

Notable CIG fires/losses reportedly included key leadership for the PU, causing major shakeups in structure.

Surely that doesn't mean the Director of the Persistent Universe, the elusive Mr. Tony?

A great disturbance in the Quantum, as if millions of quants suddenly cried out in terror. And then went back to playing Sataball with the Star Marines on their closed server in a good state.

When even Zyloh is "not denying the existence of layoffs", the situation is possibly quite dire. Man, backers were hoping that CIG would put all those SQ42 devs back onto the PU now, not the job market.

Hold on, what did I miss? Linky please?
The Pipeline post, Golgot linked:

While not denying the existence of layoffs, Tyler Witkin (Zyloh) had made sure to indicate that neither office had planned to close. When I had mentioned that CIG’s job hiring site had been cleared of all but one US job posting (indicating a potential hiring freeze), Tyler indicated more were incoming as well as confidently dismissing a rumor about the fate of the Austin studio as untrue.

I wouldn't be surprised if any layoffs are due to Chris playing at 'big game studio head'. all these other studios are laying off people, so I probably should - because we are a big game studio too

Seriously Golgot, you need to move on to the new reddit 😋

Only old reddit saves on wayback ;). (And that burner account likes to delete their posts...)

They dumped this one from the last round of redundancy chat...

I can confirm there was layoffs. I was even personally asked to give my opinion on if we could fire x employees in Austin. But it's not just there, they even fired some people after the turbulent acquisition for "budget reasons".

Ah yeah ok, ta. But that is to be taken with a tanker full of salt.

It is. But it's not the only signal in that area (re a layoff run, with the US hit worst).

Might not mean much on the big picture level (IE just recalibration after Turbulent's absorption etc). Might mean a bit more (IE they're feeling the pinch on the salary front when the sales slow down).

The talk of a rejig at the top of the PU chain has been going on for a while too. Tony Z would seem like a safe bet there. (And decent bang-for-buck saving too ;))

A compilation of all 51 Intergalactic Aerospace Expo and all Invictus Launch Week trailers from 2024 to 2019. All clips/trailers that have been released so far are summarized in one long video.

You have to admit one thing to CIG if they can do one thing then trailer

To be fair, making great flashy vids I do not think it is a rare skill in the industry today, and hasn´t been for a long while. Most game dev companies can do those. Can´t see much merit in those per se. CIG´s merit is rather in making marks believe there is an actual product behind them.

Your woodwork will love you!
