Depends. Sometimes, when I feel exceptionally masochistic, I will try to find them all, no matter what.
Most of the time, if there is some I totally fail to find, I will give up and move on.
My home from home.
I try to grab everything, except if I don't see any blue patches from orbit on the DSS, or if my patience runs out while trying to find a particular species. Cactoida can be ridiculously sparse as an example of the former, and I've given up on trying to find Fungoida as an example of the latter, although I do always at least try to find them before moving on.
Morten's Paradise, Desy System. I had a tough run to this place, got interdicted by an assassin and while I was dueling with him two more dropped out of highwake. Thank the lord for cell banks.

Ahh that is a beauty! …i’ve not bounty-hunted seriously in quite a while and this FdL hasn’t even been out of the hangar in a few years, though it served well as a Threat-6 Elite pirate hunter for a few before in Nuenets/Alacagui, etc - nb: the “pirate” paint job is because i work undercover and like to catch the ’rats with their pants down…

Actually I don’t remember what they sound like.
Most of the bios make some sort of sounds, Tubas unsurprisingly sound like blowing over a partly filled bottle, others are more crackly. It can be quite creepy at times.
My guess is that you have spent too many time in the loneliness of wild systems far away, seeking for signs of life. Now, your mind is tricking you, you can hear Foticuluae say things. Come back, CMDR, and have a beer at a crowded station asap!

...yep, this is probably because while exploring/exobio-ing, i usually have a mix of ambient/spacey music on and probably assumed any exobio singing noises were just part of my own soundtrack - this reminds me to add some John Foxx to the mix, like this old favourite...
