New 2024 Livestream series!

I'll certainly be giving the new series a look over, though not live as I have a prearranged appointment. It will be good to get any news on ED (unless it's the macOS client style of news) and a look see at other Frontier titles may prove interesting.

I'm not going to go 'yay' or 'boo' (or any of the states inbetween) until I've seen the product. And even then it might be wise to give it a chance to get into its stride. The proof of the pudding will be in the eating :)

Well it makes sense to do 1 live stream series for all of Frontier's games, because that means more quality content rather than filler.

This indicates that ED is not in maintenance mode yet. What should Frontier do? Here's my 2 cents:
  1. New ships to fill the gaps in the roster
  2. A long overdue graphics upgrade (anti-aliasing, ray tracing, update the blurry nebulae etc)
  3. VR-support (could be sold as a DLC)
  4. Ship interiors as mini-DLC per ship or a full package for all ship interiors
  5. New planet types and biomes with planetary landing
  6. New land vehicles
  7. Base building and management (could also be space stations) with cosmetics
  8. Thargoid faction in Powerplay that players can support and dock at Thargoid stations
  9. Comics, figurines about the Elite universe and other merchandise

If Frontier plans another paid expansion for ED how will they not make the same mistakes as Odyssey?
What "gaps in the roster"? -most ships can be fitted with various items and pre-engineered modules to fit those roles.
AA can't be changed due to the assembly backend. This has already been made clear quite a few times.
Ray tracing, are you for real? (a low-cost option is the new AMDFSR3/AMD FMF)
Re-introducing full 3D in VR does not need to be a dlc.
Ship interiors as dlc is indeed the way to go.
(Captain's Quarters dlc as i call it)

Rest of the list is just money out of hand for frontier at this time, how about we support the streamers and game and then let the good people there get back to work before we start harping on them for not doing what "we" want, hmm?

Topic: YAY! Have time to watch it live too. :D

Elite is the only livestream I've ever modded for (across all companies and individuals) where we regularly have to moderate things before the stream has even started. You're correct though there's more Elite users on these forums.
I'm sorry, but that's just anecdotal evidence. My experience was that certain other space games' (note the plural) livestreams after they received many bad news were worse. But this is also just anecdotal evidence.
Now, multiplayer games with much larger audiences? Yyyeah...

The screenshots are merely a snapshot to emphasise the different reactions to news of a stream.
Well, for Elite the news of Frameshift Live getting cancelled permanently wasn't good, so negative reactions to that are entirely understandable.

You need two unhappy to balance it out :)

All of the streams for the individual games had the same.

Still it's all good anyway because this stream is going to tell us what the plans for Elite in 2024 are, which is what everyone wants I'm sure. I'm personally hoping for some non combat content, but I'm not hoping too hard.

Good news......Livestreams move from 4pm thursday's - a time when I'm drinking in the pub with my mate....so I could only watch a re-run, IF I could remember;).

Bad news..... Livestreams are being merged to cover Frontier's other games..........seems like nothing's gonna change for me personally.

Sorry Paul, not a dig at you in any way, just how I feel about what's happening in the Company & my concern for the game I've played since launchday:(.

I think this new format is a great idea - gives consistency to a Frontier stream, and we can know in advance whether it will have Elite news or not.

Looking forward some news regarding "System Authority and Power Play agents unprovoked agro" introduced in Update 17 that wasn't fixed in 17.01 and skyrocketed to Issue Tracker's #2 spot. It's quite immersion breaking and sometimes fatal.

And that feature rework investigation that was going for 2023.

I just hope Frontier's usual policy of ".....Update X is coming in Q2, it's looks really exciting, but we're not gonna tell you anything yet..." changes from previous years gone by.

I'm sure the community would at least want to know which area's of the game are gonna be looked at this year & not necessarily ALL the fine details......give us something!

Just to cover one of the things being mentioned about only being interested in one game: We are aiming to edit the stream after it airs and to share the relevant game bits on the channels of those games. So if you are only interested in Elite and don't want to check in on the stream to see when it is "your bit" then fingers crossed we'll have the Elite bits up on our YouTube and social channels soon after.

Not all members of the community react the same obviously. The screenshots are merely a snapshot to emphasise the different reactions to news of a stream.

I went through a few different reactions to this news about the livestream. In this order:
"Another livestream? That's great news."
"Wait, one a month?"
"Wait, it's not even dedicated to Elite, but for all Frontier's games, and only once each month? Why even bother now?"
"Hang on though, Fireytoad is right, some news is better than none."
"Looking for a positive, we'll find out what the two upcoming games are, and for a normally silent Frontier, that's great."
"Frontier took the trouble to post about it in the Elite section AND the general Frontier section, so you could interpret that as them recognising the Elite community. It's not all as bad as it might at first appear."

Read into my various reactions what you will.

Unless you are privvy to information the rest of us are not (and you might be, I don't know) .... that is speculation. They could still talk about Elite for a majority of the stream and still not tell us the exact plans for Elite in 2024

Well, we'll know next week.

But we need to stick around on the live multiproduct stream for the Elite drops? I got myself an alt recently and have a fresh interest in the perpetually popular purple panoply procurement.

2021 was when it was announced an ingame feature would get a major rework.
2022, wasn't it? I don't recall it being mentioned before this post in May unless I missed something really obvious.

(It's still been a while since the last update on it, of course, but it's not quite that late)

have been really given scraps for a fairly long time now WRT the state of new content going forward.
It always ends up with the usual problem. Frontier can't (or at least shouldn't attempt to) give us information they don't know themselves, and frustrating as it can be for players not to know what's coming next, getting information which turns out to be incorrect on either timescale or content or both ends up being even worse for everyone.

If Frontier hadn't mentioned the Feature Overhaul in the first place, people might be marginally more anxious about "what comes after Update 18?" at this point, but they could have skipped a whole bunch of questions/complaints/frustration about not hearing anything about the Feature Overhaul, sold Update 15 as a positive "it's great to see so many participating in U14's Thargoid content, so we're going to add more of that" rather than a mixed "sorry, this Thargoid stuff turns out to be taking a while to finish off so we'll have to push the Feature Overhaul back a bit", released it at exactly the same time it'll eventually release, and quite possibly will have got better post-release feedback on whatever it turns out to be because people wouldn't have been imagining something completely different for years.

That's not an alternative which encourages them telling us about things with uncertain timescales which might never actually happen.

Who the hell knows when PZ has this in its patch notes

View attachment 381906

Is EDs narrative leaking into the animal packing sim?
What is the PEGI of PZ?

I started ED as an innocent sympathetic space enthusiast, but after a few months, I can feel that I am slowly turning onto a greedy looter just like the rest of you, older conspirators and mercenaries. 😂
You should be fine as long as you don’t start eating the burgers and kale.

Isn't this rather close to naming and shaming and talking about the posters rather than the subject?
Nobody was named, so only posters who thought it was about them should feel shamed, and livestreams were mentioned. So not that close IMO.
