It’s the tiger’s year! Well, at least for UNITY it is. As a good start into 2024 two tiger cubs were born in their freshly rebuild and expanded enclosure.
„We are happy things are good and running for us again“, says Linda, founder and director of UNITY. The zoo was effected by a huge storm that caught a lot of zoos, including some IUZ zoos. UNITY even lost the dhole offspring and two Bengal Tigers, a highly endangered species, due to the natural disaster. The former tiger habitat was completely destroyed.
„We were devastated of course and even the birth of the two new tiger cubs can not undo the loss we still feel. However, we are happy that the two little boys, Imaran und Charan, are doing well and will do their part to help the survival of the species.“
Life is what happens while you made other plans
While talking with one of the keepers the whole story of the sudden birth of the cubs reveals and it almost feels like destiny was at play.
“We did not expect to have Bengal tigers again for a long while, after the storm hit. I mean, the whole habitat was destroyed and you do not build an enclosure that focuses on animal welfare and theming over night. But then we got an emergency call. Twice actually. From different places, two tigers had been seized by custom. We could not just stand there and look”, says keeper Ellis Hall.
Director Linda explains further: “We worked again with the blue print method of a befriended zoo, Yuma Zoo. Their architect was able to rebuild our old tiger habitat, but we decided to do some adjustments and expansions, to give the habitat a better look and more space. The new Tiger temple now has a huge indoor area that also guests can enter.”
“It’s quite the experience to come so close to a tiger in an indoor room. There is a lot more sound and smell involved, making the whole experience more real”, a guest says.
Linda smiles when hearing that. “Yes, giving our guests an adventure experience while simultaneously doing a lot for the conservation of species are the main goals of zoos in our franchise.”
A unique approach for conservation
Conservation is also one of the main goals of the IUZ, the International Union of Zoos, an organization which UNITY Zoo is a member of. And with conservation comes responsible breeding, to help the species out in zoos and in the wild.
“You usually do not breed with animals that have an unknown heritage and that’s the case with most animals that have been confiscated or bought as pet at the black market. But due to the serious situation with Bengal Tigers in the wild and in zoos, and UNITYs past accomplishments when it comes to conservation in general, has lead us to a different approach with our current tiger couple. Jaya and Siddarath, have both been thoroughly genetically tested and with the test results have been included in the IUZ breeding program. That way we were allowed to keep the male and female together without contraceptives.”
And it seems like the couple took their chance right after been placed into the new habitat! It did not take long for Jaya to conceive and giving birth to two healthy boys.
By the way: Mother Jaya is a white tiger. She is, what is called leucistic. Something that some zoos take pride in. Linda however says: “While Jaya is beautiful and our guests and we love her, from a conservation standpoint we are glad that both boys have the natural coloration of their father. That’s the only way we can release them to the wild, once they are old enough.”
Jaya and Siddharath will stay in the zoo, however, enjoying the beautiful, freshly build tiger temple.
Sorry guys that it took me so long to get back into the RPG. I try to be more active again, I was just building away and besides that, one of my other hobbies finally picked up again.

UNITY is very sorry to hear about your struggles. One of our vets, who usually cares for our Cassowarys among others, is willing to move workplaces to Sapporo, until the situation is under control. We'll send the application via E-Mail.
Good luck and kind regards!

Out of game note (not in spoilers, so everyone will read): Guys, can we all make it a habit to put the name of our zoo in every post somewhere? I needed to search the list to propperly reply and interact with this and that can be a barrier to some to just reply more quickly and engage with other players. A job offer would give that important information away anyway. Love your zoos more, guys, brand it with pride

Thanks, we from the Sapporo Wild Animal Kingdom really appreciate all Help we can get. Most of the Birds are healthy again, but there is still a relatively big Amount of infected ones. It will most likely still take a While until all of them are healthy again. We can't wait to welcome your Veterinarian in our Park.
Out of Game Note:
Currently struggling to get back into the Game. It just loads for a Eternity. No Clue if it would finish after a While. I assume it might be due to the recent Construction of a Gift Shop
We are happy to announce that the Epidemic in our Park is over and we will soon re-open. Sadly we've lost approximately 47 Cranes. We will again release some of them to the Wild. Some of our previously released Cranes joined one of the biggest Flocks in Japan and are doing pretty well.

Out of Game Notice:
Seems like the Problem was fixed by just restarting the Computer. Today I was able to load the Zoo normally
We are proud to announce that our Park is open for the Public again. We've lost approximately 4 Million Dollars while we were treating our Cranes but we hope to make the Money back soon. Make sure to visit our newest Inhabitants: the Przewalski Horses, the Malaysian Tapirs and the Indian Rhinos and if you're hungry, we recommend our new Restaurant.
We hope to see you soon in our Park again and that you'll have a great Time there.

..... Is this working? Oh, we have a signal, excellent.
Hello everyone, Long time no see! I know everyone here might have a certain number of questions which will be answered in due time, however before the signal is extinguished once again, we from the dier zoo Have to explain about our excessively long absence to communicate the ongoing problems here, so i will give an explanation now.
As many of you might know, the Dier zoo was hit by a massive tropical storm, it was initially thought that the storm would only persist until december 27th, however, this has been proved as false, since the storm persisted until January 18th, during the storm some lakes, rivers and other water bodies reverted to an "primordial sea" state, mud cover the roads making whole roads inaccessible and to some landslide, all of those events culminated to the complete annihilation of our flamingos habitat, some of them escaped, the others never left the habitat. A Lightning striked our main antenna, which leads it to completely melt, so we had to buy a new one, and wait until the storm stops to bring it, however even after the clouds dissipated, we still had another problem: The scorched sun.
After the storm the sun castigated the earth, raising the temperatures to extreme levels and making the roads state even worse, essentially creating an desolate land, the new antenna arrive take even more time, being installed today, so those are all the reasons why we have been offline for so long.
Moving for a equally important topic, the vast majority of the animals was moved to the backstage area, aside from Moed, who stand on it home, facing the storm very bravely (and because he habitat didn't have water or any problem that could be exploited by the storm, and he courage and stubbornness helped a little), the majority of the animals returned to they habitat today as well, except for the flamingos, who don't have a habitat to return anymore, all the animals are fine and happy.
And well that's everything from now, we are vary thankful for everyone kind words and compre.....hension thr....ough those ro.....ugh ti...mes, we..........w.......sh........ eve............one......................................a..........n................ce........
Our Team is currently searching for a female Siamang because our last female died a few Days ago. If another zoological Institution could provide one for us, we would be very thankful

To the esteemed members of the International Union of Zoos,
We are happy to announce that construction of the T. J. Oakland Park Zoo is finally complete! We are grateful for your kind support as our zoo came to be, so we would like to cordially invite you to pay a visit and witness the fruits of your support.
Dear International Union of Zoos
Auburn Wildlife Park would love to join your group, we are a zoo dedicated to conservation and education while giving are guest a wonderful experience. so far, we only have a Beaver and Armadillo habitat that are right next to each other, in fact without the stone wall in the way the two could interact. anyway, hope you consider.
That's a really small Zoo. The Sapporo Wild Animal Kingdom wishes you lots of Luck with your Park. I assume from seeing the Zoos Logo that you might specialize a lot in Primates? We also want to soon move the Chimpanzees from our Zoos old Location and we also have Experience with other Primates. Feel free to ask us if you need any Help. We can't wait to see how the Zoo will develop
