Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

The guy seems to have been more in red team / cyber security stuff for Blizzard / Amazon, only just moving into indie gaming himself now. But fun takes none-the-less ;)

The EPTU 'board the Idris' mission is on again...

As far as I can tell lots of people couldn't alter their loadouts to distortions etc at the station, so couldn't disable the Idris. And performance was too bad to try and target its engines manually...

When I joined there was just a kid's toybox of ships dangling around the soft-deathed Idris, janking into new positions about every 3 seconds.

Going well ;)

EDIT: New run, but a bunch of clients just crashed, including the streamer's... (And the Idris is back at a station, so I'm guessing the dev crashed too ;))

EDIT2: DTOX streamer is struggling to get close in their Corsair. Says their FPS are ~25fps.

EDIT3: Idris just disappeared from Avenger's screen... Players complaining about server being very laggy (unable to target etc). Idris reappears. Idris disappears again. More complaints of server feeling laggy.

EDIT4: Now Avenger can see it but the DTOX lot can't. (Def all the same server though, same name tags etc). Tags show up for them again after a bit.

EDIT5: It soft deaths again. No boarding fun. General streamy grumpiness. 'Test done'.

EDIT 6: Although it didn't quite go to plan...

Oh I agree revenues are also used, but generally in combination to plenty other information, including peer group benchmarks. Which this guy can’t and doesn’t do. But if a single type of multiple is to be used to eyeball a company valuation then profits, as imperfect a measure as it can be, is where it is at. I wouldn’t dare put a price tag in a company unless I can see their profits in some way and reasonably project those a few years forward. I don’t think profits are available publicly for Turbulent, nor is their cost structure or cash flow, and so just using revenue to estimate value is going to carry a huge error margin.
Spot on, but I usually discarded any forecast as fiction for price targets. Any multi year lookout can only help to gsuge potential business, except fir rare cases of extre mely stable revenues, like energy e.g. And yeah, the P/E ratio is what you look for in public companies first. Not revenue.

it'll all work perfectly fine and be lots of fun, soon when these jesus techs are done:
  • server meshing for better performance
  • private event instances for controlled activity
  • reputation to keep out griefers
  • armour so the idris is tough
  • Subsumption NPCs that man and guard and repair and defend the idris
  • quanta economy that triggers the event dynamically
  • messaging so players know what the event is
please check the roadmap for all these things coming real soon

So, were there bans for displaying the atrocity of SC in live streams?

I played Phantom Liberty this weekend - new playthrough - that dumb section where you don't have any money nor car? I can now ride the metro. It isn't so hard. And the doors they made the whole process static. Janky, yes, but it doesn't blow up and it works.

Oddly I'm looking forward to my final playthrough of CP in a few months time for that reason.
I forgot to mention, re: our earlier discsussions, you ever need a RIO for the F-14 and if you're in a timezone thats reasonable for us both, give me a holler and I'll happily take you on the glorious road to multicrew victory!

What happened to the tight NDA stuff?
That only applies to specific focus group tests in the Ordus Evocati.
EPTU is the experimental test universe and not under NDA. Neither are the test universe PTU, the live universe PU or the tech preview channel (not a universe, apparently).

Live (PU) is the alpha version of Star Citizen.
PTU is the beta version of the alpha version of Star Citizen.
EPTU is the alpha version of the alpha version of Star Citizen.
