In other news the UK financials are now 1.5 months late. Gotta wonder if there's something juicy lurking in there :unsure:

(Something that'd be a bad look during restructuring perhaps? A big wage bump for the c-suite maybe. Another round of dividends perhaps? Although if they used the same method as last time there would have been some other paper trails.)
Seven years as a Live Game Director with not a single game being live.

That's not the individual's fault though. Time spent fulfilling that position delivering what is asked of that position by upper management is pretty industry standard.

The fact that the deliverables change on probably an hourly basis at the merest whim of upper management is the whole reason behind this ongoing slow motion trainwreck of a Space Game, and they, and they alone, are wholly responsible.

I am not saying he was in a good spot, or in a position to influence SC to somehow make into an actual game. However, he is an experienced professional and he kept himself in this situation for seven years.

Yes they went in too early. It took over an hour to bring the shields down. Then quite some time with distortions to disable the ship. When we finally got to that point and we were about to get on board: 30K.
It was epic though. So many players working together (we were all in one massive party) in so many ships. All the while the Idris was defending itself with those big turrets and the railgun :).

I'm a little sad about the current state of the project.
can someone tell me what happened now days? does SC have more than 1 star system yet? aliens? criminal apprehending gameplay? open world trading? any tank gameplay? property buying gameplay? does anyone remember sataball? ship to ship refueling? scavenging gameplay? has the bartender come alive with next gen AI yet? janitor gameplay? have they added monster taming gameplay yet? have they added companion system yet? have they added land based racing gameplay? have they added boats? have they added factory management gameplay yet? have they added musical gameplay yet? have they added deck building and auto battler gameplay yet? zombie survival gameplay? zombie tower defense? I'm pretty sure there are a lot of new trends from the gaming world that I missed out...

Snow of yesterday. Now it's PES and POO. Serverised intermesh with little clue what it's supposed to do. Thousands of players sitting on millions of persistent coffee cups.
SC is the dungeon of the digital masochist - you go there to suffer: Lag, rubberbanding, spontaneous explosion.

I'm a little sad about the current state of the project. The fun part of following it is the hubris of CiG, and I don't think they have much hubris left in the tank.

I mean, they've still got the incredible chutzpah to have a director stand on stage and say 'base building is coming!', 4 years after they last did the same thing...

(And we've got the added drama that he then almost immediately left the company ;))

It ain't the heyday of 'We'll do cyborg dogs a bit later', but they're still capable of being shamelessly absurd ;)
