Well, at least with this update timing, that'll be a good way for me to effectively 'skip' the download time by eating, walking the brown beast(also known as a dog, and to be quite fluffy), and some other boring life stuff which the elder gods could have spared us.

we'll have to see if that 30 giabytes is actually additional 30 gigabytes or replacing a lot of big models like the titans, and even possibly putting some of the new ships into the game, to make them accesible in a future smaller update, but i hope we get something interesting.

SCHWEET! 30GB? That's not nuthin'! Let's GOOOOOOO!!!!! (Hopes high, and anxiety level due to absolute chance of being very disappointed also very high)

Good point! I overlooked that. Makes me hope the update has some neat stuff in it.

I was aware of the stream, but I only looked up summaries. I already watch too much stuff, and I've always found Frontier livestreams a bit too boring to watch. But yeah, I know stuff like the Python II is coming.

In hindsight, maybe Frontier could work at making their livestreams less boring, ha ha :p
The live stream was much more focussed on what they were telling us than many have been and even though it wasn’t all about ED it was all interesting. So in hindsight I think you missed a good one.

Personally I thought their last stream was a far better than the the last ones, even if not dedicated to Elite it was 10 minutes packed with stuff, and not just a lot of fluff.

Just got 30Gb spare, hope the update overwrites so I don't have issues. My other drive has 2TB but I am not sure what to do to switch everything to that drive.

Ok that's a problem, if the patch is 30gb then it will need 30Gb for download, at least that again to unpack the files and install the update, so you need 60Gb minimum and maybe more to be sure of having enough space. As suggested by someone else, if you used Steam to download and install the game you can move the game library or just that game to another drive. If you haven't used Steam then there may be some large folders you can temporarily move across to the other drive to make room then bring them back afterwards if you need them where they are. Things like "my photos" you could move them all, video and etc, but that will be up to you we don't know what sort of stuff you have on your main drive. Good luck and we'll hopefully see you on the other side when it's all over.

30GB download! I need to upgrade my modem. ;)

I'm chucking all my Steam stuff onto a 1TB external drive. They're cheap and easy to plug in. I assume you can't play it from there, but I haven't opened the Steam version for the best part of a year anyway.

If you move it using the Steam method (add an additional storage drive under Settings) you can freely move stuff between drives to take advantage of space or drive speed. Games run irrelevant of their Steam location. I only came across problems with some Starfield mods that were expecting the game to be on C: drive.

No, there's a better way that is supported in the Steam application. You can have multiple Storage locations, each on a different drive/partition, and move games among them through Steam, transparently.
Go to Settings --> Storage. You should see your C: drive on the top. Open the list, and click on "Add Drive". You must choose a different drive, and can also create a custom folder for it.
Once you do that, you can select one (or more) game you want from your initial library and move it to the other drive(s). The games play normally. It's very convenient.

EDIT: The way I describe is just above your direct link, apologies if you meant the top of the page, it took me to the manual method which is not very convenient.
