Another disappointment

Wow what an update. 30 gb and all we got is more thargoid related crap. When are they gonna figure out most people playing this game couldnt care less about thargoids. What about a new ship or two? how about implementing base building? That is what will attract new players. The ability to stake a claim on a planet and construct your own base would open up the galaxy. It would give people a reason to travel away from the bubble. You could create your own economy depending on your resources. Imagine the possibilities!! But no, all we get are some patches and some nanite torpedoes. Thargoid this and thargoid that. thargoid thargoid thargoid Thanks a lot. Really made my day.

More stuff is incoming, so patience is a virtue.

4.5 hours or so since we were able to access so not much time has passed for CMDRs to experience the changes, which included fixes.

Isn't it possible that there are things in this update that players are supposed to discover? Like, does everything have to be in the patch notes, including spoilers?

Edit: And you have my utmost empathy for your disappointment. Endeavor to persevere.

Before I left for work the same thing happened to me alas. I tried verifying the game files and also reinstalling the entire game but no joy.
On Fdevs support site they recommend a few things to try.

Going to give them a shot once I get home from work/tomorrow depending on energy level after tonight shift.
Failing that its the old check to see if drivers are updated, anti virus etc- Im sure you know the drill!
Then maybe a clean install of elite and steam/epic.

If you find a solution let me know!

I agree they should wrap up the Thargoid stuff and focus on features (as you mentioned) that would really entice old and new players alike to play ED.
One thing I'm still waiting for is Thargoids on foot like Starship Troopers and Aliens.

From what I can see, the launcher doesn't update to the new version. Mine shows 1.7.6926.10. It could be the old launcher bug.

If you actually get involved in the content that is being pushed out then you would and moan less. asking for base building is like asking a chicken to fly it ain't going to happen.

Well, carrier once again was fixied - switching "pause" while onboard of the own carrier :D I think that is 11th time about they fix it :D
Good enough for me.

If you really want new players to be interested in the game, this is not the proper attitude to have. If you truly want to usher in new commanders, which increases the playerbase and might actually increase the chances of even further content being added to the game including what you want, concentrate on expressing your positive feelings. Be a better ambassador if you actually like the game. These storylines and development have been in the works for a long time; the voices of you, I, or anyone else is not enough to change the direction of a moving train that is a game dev company.

Don't worry, Frontier will move onto something else here after this so you can bemoan that instead, even if it is base building, I'm sure it will fall far short of what someone who surely only wants the best for the game believes is deserving. Forget the other players that do like the Thargoid aspect of the game, what care should you have about that? Or alternatively, speaking as someone who wants to see base-building in the game as well, we wait our turn because Frontier do not have infinite resources, so therefore cannot do everything at once, and looking at the utter mess CIG have made of the non-development of Star Citizen, it very much for the best that Frontier have stuck to that. And maybe this Thargoid stuff isn't so bad after all and it's possible that some of the development of it may be useful for base-building or x feature down the road yet to be implemented.

What is elite dangerous?
Its a space sim. Isn't it?
Exploration of the games huge galaxy.
I've educated my grandkids using elites galaxy. Giving them a sense of whats around them.
It's supposed to be a game for all. Pvpers, pvers, ax pilots, haulers, explorers. And so on.
But let's face it, since odysseys release, it's focused on goid wars and on foot pew pew. People left! 1000s of em. Pushing elite into a game played by just 5000 or so at one point. According to steam. Yeah I know that doesn't reflect the true figures but its telling.
Fdevs finances going to the wall. Share prices plummeting. Because 1000s of elite gamers felt the game was going in the wrong direction. Including myself.
This Is how alot of players feel.
It's undeniable.
Cmdrs should be allowed to speak their minds here in forums without reproach.
Ops right.
The game needs new content.
