Stuart stirring the pot...

I think CIG should just go all in and have a new sale every day.

And the title of this one is hilarious.

Drifting from the pitch? Well, in the same way the Titanic drifted a bit into an iceberg.

LOL, ChatJ3PT

Nothing in the pitch changed, they are just delivering on parts of it and still working on others.

Ah, i see, so moddable private servers are still on the cards according to him!

Ooooh, love how he moves the goalposts as well when Stuart responds.

Stuart: Squadron 42 drop-in/drop-out co-op was scrapped years ago, a feature that was in the original pitch.

J: Coop was removed, does that mean the core pitch of the game changed? No. The game was enhanced but the overall intention and game they pitched is the same.

Original statement was "nothing in the pitch changed" which then changes to whether the "core pitch" of the game changed and makes out like removing coop doesn't change it.

He's such a weasel.

Also, note how posts calling him out are often deleted by the mods.

Either J3PT is a CIG employee, possibly a mod alt account, or he's just someone so far down the rabbit hole he's going to break when CIG collapses.

But in the meantime, defence force got this covered...

/r/gaming - Star Citizen dev CIG laid off staff following studio relocation

My partners brother in law is friends with a senior dev in CIG. This is not a bad thing. There is a massive hiring push in Manchester. Many dev teams are set up there and theres a lot of talent in the local area. People laid off will simply be people who couldn't relocate. They don't intend to cut the team they want to refill those numbers

EDIT: Oh, and now some counter-point...

Sure those articles are overhyped but having 2 irl friends in the studios, there was indeed quite alot of layoff on the NA side (Austin/LA/Montreal). Not sure why people are in such denial that this can happen

Say uncle!

EDIT2: Oh I should mention, there's lots of sass too ;)

Man even non-game companies laying off game devs these days. Goddamn.

Just reading through one of the above threads and I see this complaint, which is of course reflective of similar complaints here occasionally;

I've seen the reason given is that the QT bubble allows higher speeds. It's utter space magic.

The average SCM speed i've seen is 250 m/s. 250 m/s is about 550 mph. That's the speed of a privet jet today. In atmosphere.

The Falcon 9 rocket hits speeds of 17,500 mph! With no QT needed. And our ships are supposed to be 900 years more advanced.

The correct answer being it takes a huge amount of effort and energy to accelerate a ship to 17,500mph in real space, whereas QT (and SC) can do it easily so why bother to build that capability into the ships. Being 900 years more advanced in the case of SC doesn't mean using 900 year old technology to accelerate a ship to 17,500mph, that technology was abandoned because it had become superseded by superior technology and there is no practical application to accelerate a ship in real space to those speeds anymore, which of course applies both in SC and ED.

Interesting to note when somebody responds to a usual J3PT white knighting, their comment is deleted - and the poster likely suspended.

A wee claim that CIG have actually paid for some relocations...

My brother works for CIG and the move has added a massive commute to his day. He used to be able to walk to work, but he can't afford to move to Manchester. You'd think that if they wanted his skills enough to pay to relocate him from the other side of the planet they could throw him a bone locally.

(But that inner-Manchester may not be the best place for a dev house...)

Mind you, neither was LA ;)
