Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

Speaking of ship choices, FDEV has now said that the Python MKII is designed specifically for PVP.

I am now much less interested.

It also indicates that FDEV plans to push the multiplayer/PVP side of the game, which just means more content that isn't for me.

It's not a good sign!

I am not sure that a design intent from FDev that it is a PvP ship will stop it working just as well in PvE it might be a lot more of a shooter than the all rounder the Mk1 is but there is no point getting your hopes down at this stage.

I decided to try something I have not yet attempted -- buying Tritium from my carrier.

I think I want to take a very long trip into the black, which means I need a bunch of Tritium.

Usually I just buy it myself, and haul it in the T9 or Cutter to my carrier.

But it should be possible to get other CMDRs to do the hauling, if I set up a buy order with a high price. It'll cost me a lot more, but I won't have to do the hauling.

So, I've set my carrier near a station that sells Tritium, and set a buy order for 150% of Galactic Average. I'm not sure if anyone will actually notice and sell me some Tritium.

If not I'll just haul it myself as usual. But I want to see what happens.

If it is PvP oriented, it may be the one ship I won't get*

* this is a lie because I'm an OCD completist and it really makes my teeth itch knowing I can't get a Cobra Mk IV :D
I've been lamenting that only my 'main account', which doesn't have legs has access to the Cobra MKIV.

But since the sale is now on (as of last night), she got legs! I can play with my MKIV again - I mean I always could, but when I initially got Odyssey it was on an alt acct so I could have a 'do over' without erasing my original character.

I still think FDev should just open the MKIV on the ARX store (or flat out in the in game shipyard) and let everyone have it. It's sub-optimal in it's class, I still love it. And exclusivity of content is meh.

I mean, if you tell us where, I could probably be persuaded to bring a couple hundred tons

I just saw the Dev posting about the rewards for helping to kill a Titan.

It's...ARX. 100 ARX for helping to damage the Titan Heart (first I've heard about a Titan Heart).

That's not much of a reward, especially since weekly ARX is capped at 400 and most of us already make that much.

There are also apparently paint jobs and decals.

I guess it's better than nothing, eh? :D

I know what you mean.

In other MMO-type games I've resigned myself to the fact that I will never do the end game stuff. I hate "raiding," it's just not something I enjoy at all. I've actually done a fair amount of it, but always ended up dissatisfied with the experience.

But in ED I've always been able to do pretty much all the stuffs just by myself, perhaps less efficiently. Even up until this latest content with the assault on the Titans. It's the first thing that I've felt was just impossible solo.

I wonder if that's a clue about what's to come? Maybe they intend to push the multiplayer aspect harder. They certainly could do that with an update to Powerplay.

I hope they don't go in that direction. The game has a lot of problems in multiplayer -- disconnects and bugs abound -- so I'm not thinking it would go well. Also, I like that until now you could choose any of the modes and do just fine.

I guess we'll see :)

It's completely crazy in there - had to rebuy my conda several times today - and i'm just recording video mainly... war-time photojournalists' life expectancy has been dramatically reduced recently! :D

Nice video, thanks for that. You did a good job of showing the events, and the Titan itself!

So creepy and icky, lol. I guess the designers were going for that.

Well, that worked faster than I expected. It took about an hour for my buy order for 6000 Tritium to be filled. People do notice!

And with that I'm off to other pastures for a bit. I shall make back the credits by doing Exobiology and Exploration.

Here's Big Tony, my T9, looking forlorn because there's nothing for him to do.

Back home again, i.e. at the PC with my builds on it. This is my Mamba, with the PA loadout:
I also got an MC and a beam laser for the top slot.
The two mediums get gimballed weapons, to get convergence with the top mount (don't know how/if that works with the FdL). That is less of a concern with the PA loadout, as the engagement range of the PA (2 km falloff) is much larger than that of the lasers (600 m falloff). A long range PA sounds tempting at first (throw a punch at 7 km out) - but that punch still travels at 1700 m/s, so takes around 4 seconds to reach the target at full range. Or at least go to where the target has been four seconds ago...
Also, the gimbals help dealing with those pesky Vipers.
The cytos in the small slots melt shields at close range. Simple as that. The additional scramble spectrum mod is for :poop: and giggles.

Dang, I'd hate to meet that rig in a dark ally, everything grade 5, very nice.

How are you guys so comfortable with the free camera? It feels awkward to me.

Nice soundtrack choice with Sunshine and Oblivion though.
