Spring 2024 DLC Speculation

Are toucans that common in zoos? Maybe my view is skewed based on ones I've visited but in my experience they are nowhere near as common as parrots, owls, eagles, vultures, hornbills, pigeons and the like. Those groups I feel basically every major zoo has at least one or two species, but toucans only a minority I have been to have them. The only one I've seen a decent amount is the green aracari, I think the toco toucan despite being the most iconic might be a bit rarer in Europe than it is in the States (I can only recall ever seeing one once).

I don't know how common they are in zoos, but toucans are one of those instantly recognizable birds - in terms of recognizability, they're among the giraffe/lion/elephants of the bird world.

TBH I doubt we would get one walk through species of bird if we finally got one, now it’s possible it may be a couple species from the same group of animal. I imagine if they make a rig/ animation set like they did with the butterflies they wouldn’t use it once. Now that may mean we get something like 5 parrot species:

  1. Hyacinth Macaw
  2. Scarlet Macaw
  3. Blue and Gold Macaw
  4. Palm cockatoo
  5. Sulfur crested cockatoo
But I doubt they would only do a scarlet macaw and that’s it.

Idk about 5 species in one especially since they all still vary quite a bit, but i can definetly see them doing scarlet and blue and gold since they are basicly just a colorchange

If they give us 5 parrots they'd probably all be macaws since they are all very similar in terms of appearance just with colour changes. I could see them going with:
  1. Blue-and-Yellow Macaw
  2. Red-and-Green Macaw
  3. Scarlet Macaw
  4. Military Macaw
  5. Hyacinth Macaw
These are probably the five most iconic macaw species I'd say and you've got a decent amount of the colour spectrum too. The Hyacinth might need a bit more work though, its quite a bit bigger than the others.

I'd still miss other birds, but having 5 macaws would be something at least. Just giving us one though...ugh. Please Frontier, at least 2.

Not that I think any are going to happen at all.

It is just too bad it won't be happening, especially since they have the knowledge with Jurassic World Evolution. Same with marine animals. To be honest I don't know how big the player base is at this moment, but when they would be releasing a big "update" with marine animals and birds, I would be happy to be paying € 30 without a problem. Aviaries and aquariums are really a miss in the game. Just don't hope we get a 2nd version as with JWE but it would be released as an add-on. Graphic wise the game is ok and the gameplay can maybe be profiting from some tweaks, but nothing major in my opinion. So no need for a complete new game, but a big add-on with marine animals and birds would be epic.

You are missing one.

Graphic wise the game probably is close to its max. Making it any better would probably result in making it unplayable without a like 2k setup

Yes thinking the same. My PC can run the game ok, but when I look to the screenshots of others my graphic card is already lacking. So better graphic performance would probably mean that a lot of players won't be able to play this game with as much details/size of the zoo as they are doing now. My zoo currently has 7 exhibits/WE and I can already notice some lag.

One region which basically never gets discussed when it comes to new scenery is Africa, we have two packs... One for North Africa and one which is a general mix of all of Sub-Saharan Africa. I get other regions probably need priority for scenery but considering how culturally rich Africa is, it could definitely have more. I specifically think East Africa has a lot of potential. Considering how many African animals we have, it would be nice to have some more themed pieces to use instead of using the same ones over again.

Firstly, Ethiopia is one of the oldest civilisations on Earth and they have quite a unique style (best way I could describe it is a mix of European, Middle Eastern and African) that could work for a Mountain or Shrubland pack:

Secondly, an idea I had for a Coastal pack - Since the popular options were always Caribbean or Polynesian (and we got the latter and the former is more popular for a Latin American pack now) I thought an African option had good potential. Specifically the Swahili Coast of Africa and Zanzibar which have a long history with influence from Arabia while still having a traditional and distinct African feel. Best way I can describe it is a mix of African, Middle Eastern and Oceanian:

Would you like to see another scenery set from Africa?
I doubt players may rarely use these two themes if they are truly offered into the game b/c these two themes are quite "niche" for general players, like one of the reasons why the Arctic pack is often rated as the least favored pack is the rarely used building theme of that pack.

I hate to be that person but isn't almost every picture there using a mix n' match of themes we already have? Africa + tropical + oceania themes are a very strong scenery pallette to choose from where only regional specific decorations are the thing we would need, kind of the same with any Latin America pack with the same argument I stand by.

I wasn’t talking about a huge update with flying birds, I was talking about them adding one species of bird either by itself like a toucan or a variety of subspecies like macaws in the final pack. They did the same with JWE adding pteranodons and aviaries in the final pack, the pteranodons in that pack were in a looped aviary I believe, also being the only flying species in that game. I don’t see why we can’t have the same thing happen in Planet Zoo, the only difference is that the looped system is already in place.

I think JWE did this as a tease to get people to want actual aviaries more, then release them in the second game which they did. Again, same thing can happen here, give us 1 bird that is both a zoo icon and can function as a teaser to PZ2 with full flying birds.

Alright, though experiment, excluding Latin America/America or "Around the World" finale vibes, what are other themes you could realistically see being the next DLC?
Like assuming its not the last?
Taking anything SA related to the side, Petting zoo imo has a very good chance since the next one is likely a scenery one.

The other themes i can see filling the scenery pack slot would be Temperate(Native NA, Logs cabin), Mountains (Himalayan scenery) and Desert (Wild west, Native NA).
But the first to are a little too close to eurasia and Desert to Arid.

Imo those to situations still differ quite a bit. Pteranodon was the only really prominent pterosaur back then, so just having it didnt feel too weird or like something is painfully missing.
You cant really say the same for just having macaws.

On the other hand Frontier did exactly that with having just bats in the aviary so i guess everything is possible :D
