Spring 2024 DLC Speculation

To play devil's advocate to this point in particular, they did not confirm more JWE2 DLCs in the next fiscal year in their latest financial report either, but data-mining has confirmed another DLC after this one.
There's steamDB info on the next one, it's an unknown app at the moment. That JWE2 DLC would be 2-3 months away based on that, combined with a lack of an "outsource_lqa" update. It could still be in the financial year hypothetically (I would think it's June though).

I checked for Planet Zoo, there's no unknown app between the last DLC and now (Ctrl+F, searching "this changelist" to look for a shared changelist with an unknown app on the history page), but it can be as little as a month before release.

Yes but as @Doran pointed out already, this was already in the files since the Dominion release in 2022. So with the new information we have at hand, we have no confirmation that the PDLC10 slot is guaranteed. All we know is that it's there, but we're a full year since it was discovered, and Frontier has taken loads of hits in the past year; so there's a real chance they decided to cut it off early to focus their resources on the next CMS game.
OH! Water trough half empty mindset over here.

The thing that still gets me about that presentation slide is how lopsided it looked. There was a space that could have been perfect to highlight FY255 PDLC for any game (even if it just said TBA" in the orange square and just said "PDLC for new and existing games" or something like that).

You can't argue that it's really strange that they didn't announce more PDLC if any were actually still planned. It would have benefited them in every way right down to the aesthetics of the presentation.

It could also just be that there was uncertainty and they left it out. It doesn't mean anything one way or another but... Let's not act like it's not really strange/odd that they left it out.

JWE2 community is arguably clueless regarding reading steamDB. Changenumber can affect few unrelated apps, but they chosen to go ignore it. L u l.
Literally written in steamDB FQA.

Most likely scenario! I think will be the same like last dlc for jwe2. Also they did a stream for the dlc or what?
Pretty sure there wasn't a stream for it, as they moved everything to the Frontier Unlock streams. It was also only announced like two days before release, so there wasn't really any reason to have a stream for it

The JWE2 release cycles were always pretty wonky. I didn't pay too close attention to them but it always felt like they were either released like, 2-3 days before or had quite a bit of lead time similar to Planet Zoo.

For PDLC for a game like Planet Zoo at this point... Social media isn't critical to convince people they should buy the pack or convince them to want it. It's more about letting people know that it even exists or reminding people to buy it. If anything it might serve as a way to convince people to buy the base game and then the DLCs (but even then it's people who were probably following the game anyway).

It's just as critical. And it's one of the key reasons why they'll probably give console a beat to have its moment of "shine" before launching a DLC. They don't want to distract from console... Those pre-order numbers are probably pretty important for them. Especially for that Ultimate Collection.

Yeah, it makes a lot of sense for them to postpone any DLC marketing until after console is fully well launched and maybe some hotfixes.

I think the DLC might still be a ways off.

Im very curious what the next pack will be.

I hear South America and Africa a lot and I agree those continents have some beautiful animals left, like squirrel monkeys, howler monkeys and maybe coati. In Africa impala, kudu, serval and honey badgers and baboon (and or gelada) are kinda iconic and don’t forget barbary macaque.

That said as even as a nature and real life zoo lover, for me there is no continent or climate zone left with enough iconic animals to fill a complete pack.
Al least when we don’t count birds.

That said. The roster has two and a half flaws for me,
  • The number of monkeys species is on the low side.
  • The number of bird species is very low.
  • I would love some petting zoo animals too.

That’s why I hope for ‘The interaction pack’ a pack with animals for petting zoo, some birds and monkeys.
Because it’s the last pack it will have a bit more animals than usual and of course all walk though.

  • Squirrel monkey
  • Howler monkey
  • Barbary macaque
  • Victoria pidgion
  • Mandarin duck
  • Pelican spiecies
  • Goat
  • Shetland pony
  • Goose
  • WTE macaw pack (3 species)
  • WTE Ibis pack (3 species)
  • WTE parakeet pack (lori’s parkeet and one more spicies)

It would solve all the flaws for me,
Of course the free update would give us interactive play grounds

It's been funny watching this thread cycle through the exact same discussions over and over again. Like clockwork. "South America!" > "Birds!" > "It might not be the last DLC!" > "South America!" > "Birds!" > "It might not be the last DLC!" > ad infintum.
I mean what else is there to talk about?
Massive L on frontiers part that they dont tease anything or make an official statement to actually build hype instead of letting their game and community fizzle out into loosing interest and Engagement

Nothing like going slowly insane with friends!

But yeah all the radio silence isn’t helpful, and I agree with others, what else is there to talk about? With the Winter 2023 DLC thread we all still thought there could be another year of fun dlc left. So people could make more “niche” pack ideas that could work well. Now all signs point to this being the end, so people only want to talk about what’s left that Planet Zoo “needs”. Which is mostly South America, monkeys, and birds. The occasional conversation about animals also at the top of the meta wishlist will be around here and there, but usually that just plays back into the insanity.
