Unpopular Opinions

for sure depending on where you are deer make up a huge amount of a zoos roster but 4/55 is about 7% which is still fairly good representation when the game only has 180 animals total and only 11 birds. I have no problem with deer I think deer are one of the more underrepresented ungulate families its just a pack entirely full of then will turn many people away whether that be they look at the pack and see a bunch of similar looking animals and not think its worth it or whether they actively dont want deer.
This is also the same reason that unless its flying birds or a marine life no animal group is good enough to be a standalone pack because it offers no compromise to people not looking for that animal groups. These sorts of pack would be good if the wait wasnt 3 months minimum between packs and if the future was certain. I actually think if asynchronous to the main dlc timeline they release packs of 5-10 clones animal all using the same completely undedited rig just colour and size changes would be good for the game.
You are right, sure, now we all see why it's in Upopular topic XDD
I guess to get those animals it could have been in separated packs like one of them being American Wilds? It could still fit the free update vibe but idunno.

Did i miss the usa annex japan recently or why is the raccoon dog in an american wilds pack? :D

On a more serious note, if youd change the raccoon dog for the porcupine and one of the deer for something like the mallard, wood duck or canada goose this would be a pretty cool NA pack with something for the local peeps but also something for everyone overseas, sorta like eurasia did.

Oh WAT XD why did it show me under american animals? And it's one of the huntable animals in american map of one hunting game, which is what confused me. I am so sorry XDDD
Fixed it with "bobcat"

Edit: I am sorry, I saw your edited message after I edited mine ^^"

Some time ago I made a thread with a pack and update I'd like to have in game and it pretty fast appeared to be very unpopular opinion so I guess it counts if I send it here
It's kinda centered around gamekeepery and taxidermy which is probably what people confused and angered about this pack

New addition to education boards:
-Warning messages about overhunting problems reffering to past extinctions (dodo, quagga, auk), inrormations about overpopulation problems of certain animals (boar, rabbits in certain areas for example)
taxidermy and hunt throphies in a zoo is the worst idea ever i would honestly not buy the pack no matter the animals with that decoration im sry but it has no space in a zoo

Hunting trophies? Sure not really fitting the zoo vibe.
But taxidermy? Pretty common for zoos to taxidermize deceased animals either to use them themself or donate to museums and stuff. Atleast where i am i see that all the time

This is an opinion thread, so thank you for sharing your opinion!

Respectfully I disagree, I made a whole thread about zoos and education. You will find that taxidermy, skeletons, antlers, furs, etc can all be quite common as a learning tool. From museums like the Smithsonian, to zoos like Roger Williams, and to science centers like Squam Lake you can see them all being used.

If this is a language barrier thing, we are not suggesting that animals should be able to be hunted! For example, if I could get my hands on some antlers I would love to show them off near my deer. Showing how antlers will develop over the years. Something similar to this:

It can make for a cool interactive learning tool!

Since this is also an unpopular opinion thread I’ll share another unpopular opinion.

As someone from North America, the continent (outside of the tropics of Central America) doesn’t really need anymore mammals. Every addition is nice, but the reality is most of the niches are filled pretty well. At most we need some birds. I know this isn’t some groundbreaking revelation, but I really mean it. Obviously like everything in life there is exceptions, but I really mean it if I don’t get one more mammal it isn’t the end of the world for me.

  1. We already have a bear
  2. We already have some cat species
  3. We have multiple small mammal species (not rodents)
  4. We have two marine pinnipeds
  5. We have two deer and some rather unique ungulates
  6. We have multiple exhibit species
  7. We have some canids
  8. We have two rodents (which means we have half the rodent species in PZ in NA alone)
As I said about the exceptions, would I be angry about getting a sea otter or a ABB? Nope, but I really think we need some birds to fill out some of the niches already present in Planet Zoo.

  1. We need a waterfowl (ducks, geese, etc.)
  2. We need a wading bird (roseate spoonbill, whooping crane)
  3. We need seabirds (pelicans, puffins, etc)
  4. Gamebirds (wild turkey)
A little can go a long way!

You say that like thats an unpopular opinion, when in reality it has long been the popular opinion for everyone not from North America

Hey man I am in the trenches over here, I love bird watching and I have also been getting a little tired of the mammal rep. I understand saying “need birds” is a fair statement for the whole world, but I really mean it where I have been waiting FOREVER to even get something like a mallard.

Also this statement is more for other NA players, who still want another deer, bear, etc.

This was me watching Oceania/ Australia region get 4 birds after the Oceania Pack

Yeah I know that now, but we can’t even get an easy clone like the Caribbean Flamingo or the Whooping crane? Shoot if we want a bird with more mass usability I’m sure the roseate spoonbill can also use the flamingo rig in the same way the crane did.
Yeah you see those are worth their weight in gold, sort of like monkeys. Thats why we only get one of those once in a blue moon when someone at Frontier finds some change between the couch

Why people discuss there will be last DLC for PlanetZoo?
Their sales are only increasing and each DLC it's assured a lot of people buy them. There is still a lot of wishlisted animals to use and keep the fandom interested. Why would they give up on such 'easy' money considered a lot of animals can just be copied rig or retextured? I would understand for them to give up on development when people lost interest in it but right now? And even if they planned it for some unfortunate event they would most likely not say that in such an time advance otherwise ppl would just start dropping the game slowly before it even GETS the last update. So I don't understand where this information comes from.

The sentiment of PZ support ending mostly stems from the fact that that has been the case for Planet Coaster and Jurassic World Evolution in the past.
The game got its console edition and support for the PC version ended with a slightly bigger than usual pack.
Obviously it could be different for Planet Zoo but between the before mention end of support pattern, Frontier not doing to well financially and alot of staff layoffs at the end of last year its not looking to bright

I will not rest until we get the white speckled hodor in Planet Zoo for the 42nd DLC, the sponsored Game of Thrones DLC.

Maybe it's not the right thread for it but I have to ask, I saw some comments about something happening in their staff, but I didn't get what exactly. What is the information circulating about it? What happened there, do you know?

Frontier hasn’t been doing well financially, they layed off some staff.including community managers for Planet Zoo. This also included a number of developers.
