Update 18.02 | Wednesday 10th April

Fixed Reboot/Restore missions sending players to an already online settlement
I'm betting that this still won't be fixed, seeing as it's an issue from February 2023. The fix has failed every time.

"And to make things worse, combat ships usually don't have the internals to spare for a FSD booster."

It is a choice that a player has to make. The space is there, it is just that some will not use the optional internals for anything but SCBs and HRPs. Cannot let the defences drop by a smidge, gotta have the max otherwise the ship is not competitive.

There have been requests in the past for an additional bit of cargo space (filling the bridge/corridors etc) so that the odd item can be collected. Once again, players refuse to sacrifice even the smallest internal slot for anything not combat related.

Its not my fault. size 1D Hull reinforcement Heavy Duty 5 provide +15% to all my resistances!!!!

[Insert here some stupid fix like remove most size 1 modules, include default cargo racks or free assist module]

I don't quite understand why we need E and C. D is light, B is sturdy, A is best performance, C/E is cheap. Why do we need two module classes in the cheap area ?

Because way back in the earliest days of the game, long before reward inflation began to spiral out of control, ships had operational costs based in the value of the ship. And thanks to Frontier deciding that ship and module price growth should be exponential, while their capabilities should grow logarithmically, it was possible to go broke in the largest ships by A-Rating everything. Thus E was economic, and C was the best bang for your buck.

Plus it will be awesome for proper exploration where the journey is important and not the destination. All those first footfalls at far-away planets will be much more appealing.
Gameplay wise this makes so much sense. CMDRs can still min max with A rated jumping monsters. But those who want to actually explore planets will benefit.

The mandatory ½ - 2 hours too early:

Even if you refuse to spare a class 5 slot, a 3H Guardian booster will still net you 19.4 ly assuming the new FSD has identical stats to the normal C-rated FSD (plus the overcharge capability) and can be engineered. 15 ly if it cannot be engineered. For comparison, my battle-'Vette with G5 6A FSD does 17.5 ly.

Assuming they don't change any of the stats for the C, EDSY tells me that using fully-engineered C FSDs I'd get 23ly out of my BGS cargo & combat 'vette, & 36ly out of my data Courier. 8-10ly drop over the A-rated FSD.

I could definiltely live with that.

Also there is basic synth for 25% boost to jump range. Really cheap on mats if you are going without a booster or fuel scoop.

Aside from the overcharge thing, they mentioned something about size 5 pre engineered FSDs now allowing an experimental effect as per all the others. Did I understand this right?

Yup it was previously allowed and then after a recent update it didn't work anymore. This is being fixed with this update.

Hi @Paul_Crowther just a quick question, on legacy here but lost the ability to see paintjobs on Legacy or access the livery on station or FC ? Has the update affected legacy ? In any way ?
Yes I know legacy isn't getting work done But this only happened . Many thanks
