Spring 2024 DLC Speculation

We have animal wishlist but what about a list of animals we think we most likely WON'T get? :D
Destroy my dreams, which of these animals you think we won't get in the PlanetZoo and why?
In order of least to most likely:
  • Dodo, Thylacine, Quagga, Liger/Tigon: I don't think they will ever add extinct animals or hybrids.
  • Dwarf Gourami: Fish aren't likely to begin with, and this one is obscure.
  • Red Wolf, Asiatic Lion, Grevy's Zebra, Kiang, Roe Deer, Tibetan Fox: I don't think there are many people clamoring for these, and Frontier has better and more popular options for clone picks. There are probably mods for most of them though, or they'd be easy for modders to implement. You could probably play with them that way.
  • Domestic Donkey: This is a pretty basic option for a domestic pack, which isn't entirely off of the table. People have been begging for petting zoos for a while.
  • Any rabbit: They aren't that far off from the quokka. If we got domestics, I'm pretty sure a rabbit would turn up in such a pack. If they don't, they still might work one into another pack. They aren't the most likely thing, but I could definitely picture them, especially if we get a few more packs.
  • Pheasant: While they aren't the most likely bird, I think we have a decent chance of getting at least one. The first would probably be the popular golden pheasant, though. I don't think the species you listed were super likely.

Hmmm. We got into an argument about birds and how they should be implemented for the 7th time in this thread much sooner than expected. Looks like Frontier aren't the only ones shaking up their patterns this time around!
Great! Time to bring back some of the other arguments!
  1. Petting Zoo animals
  2. Another bear/ cat/ dog/ crocodile
  3. Golden snub nosed monkey
I’m gonna go study for a bit, I expect chaos when I get back!

I got to be honest, if the final pack contains recently extinct animals I would probably not get it. I would honestly even be a bit upset. I think it would be a cool concept, and I would be happy for those who want it. But I have no desire or use for animals that aren’t here anymore. Sure I think the dodo and thylacine are cool, I just have no desire for them at all.
Same. I just think Planet Zoo is the wrong game for this.
Prehistoric Kingdom already has some pretty recent extinctions like mammoth and cave lions, so i think dodos and thylacines would fit in there perfectly.

Although i can see the message of "see how human impact drove these animals into extinction" has some value in PZ. Im kinda split on it since i think they are important for educational purposes, but i wouldnt use them ever probably

1. Asiatic lion
2. Kiang
3. Red wolf
4. (Wild) rabbit
5. Roe deer
6. Pheasant (ringneck, diamond, peacock...)
7. Grévy's zebra
8. Liger / Tigon
9. Tibetan fox
10. Dwarf gourami

12. Quagga
13. Dodo
14. Thylacine
15. Waterbuck
I think we won’t get any of them. The equids are a long shot though.

I honestly don't think we'll have anything left, I've already given up on everything.
I believe that the creators are focusing on the console when the franchise ends, it will definitely be over, that's it, it was good for how long it lasted.

There is atleast one more DLC confirmed tho

I don't. I'd fine with the Brown throated sloth. I rather get something else.
I dont even care about right and wrong sloth anymore, the WTE and its ugly climbingframe is such a turn off that id rather pretend my sloth is 24/7 asleep then use any sloth inside the WTE.
Where the fun of building a climbing frame and stuff when it isnt used anyways and the sloth just teleports between a prebuild ugly one?
Might aswell just build a faux habitat and actually have fun

So, my friend, which Snub-nosed Monkey do you want?

I've said it before but I'll say it again; given the sheer number of bird species needed to even be a passable representation of a zoo collection, zero is better than one.
You will find more zoos with 1-12 bird species, than you will find zoos with 0 bird species.

Therefore getting just one flying species will be a tiny step closer to decent bird representation.

me too, I'm already upset with frontier as it is.

It is still so weird to me they never reused the peafowl rig, and it’s not like any of the popular additions would be harder to make than a peacock's tail feathers. Having one or two more pheasant species would go a long way.
Both the flamingo and peafowl rig are underutilized. I know they used the flamingo rig for the crane, but for both groups you could get a large population of wading birds and game birds out of the rigs. Such an odd choice that could easily go a long way for representation.
  1. Roseate spoonbill
  2. American flamingo
  3. Grey crowned crane
  4. Guinea fowl
  5. Golden pheasant
  6. Wild turkey
