I could see the next pack possibly being revealed on June 25 with a release date of July 2. I know that it’s past the end of the FY, but it’s right between console DLC releases

pretty early no? wouldnt they then say soon or this summer instead of later this year? For me it sounds like they will push it further back, since its the last pack
I think it's going to be either end of June or end of August. End of May is for the console bundle, and I assume the following bundle for console will come in July.
I'm thinking more along the lines of the fall dlc slot since later this year was used.

Honestly, as the last pack, we could still potentially get a 5-year anniversary animal, as a sort of post-farewell gift. That wouldn't be so bad either

I honestly chuckled a bit when they told us that there is going to be another DLC! This community has become completely unhinged due to the uncertainty and it's kind of hilarious. The comments on every platform and social channel are so dramatic, but that's just how much we love this game!
Knowing that it is going to be an animal pack (which I'm surprised they even told us what type of pack it is), I just can't help but think it's going to be a Latin American animal pack. If it is the last pack, I could see it as being a worldwide animal pack to wrap things up. I think that LATAM is significantly more likely and could even be the final DLC.

I'm thinking regular unless the theme calls for it. I feel like Barnyard was a special scenario where it just made sense to do it this way. There wasn't a really suitable candidate for an exhibit and farm scenery was missing from the game.

Honestly, I don't think it's fair to say the "community" as a whole has been unhinged. It felt more like a small, but very loud minority once the dust settled. I'm distinguishing between people saying "eh, not my thing" and the more toxic elements but yeah...
It's hard to tell what's coming next but you raise an excellent point about the Barnyard pack. It just makes sense. There's no strong candidate for an exhibit critter and I think they realized the pack theme kinda called for new scenery items (but a full set would have felt like overkill considering that we've already gotten some garden stuff in the Conservation DLC). There aren't a lot of other packs that could readily make sense in the way that this one did.
At this point take as much damn time as you need frontier, wait until Christmas I don’t care lol. If waiting longer means getting us more species like up to 25 (heavy dose of copium lol) then I don’t care how long it takes. Seriously speaking though I do think now that the next pack will be released in the fall (can it land on my birthday this time lol) with AT LEAST 13 species, to get us to the all and mighty 200 strong roster.
I meant more in the sense of animal theme, yes if we look at the meta wishlist the specific breeds aren’t highly requested.
I think we all need to remember the forum is its own echo chamber, and the meta wishlist isn’t some all encompassing bible that represents the whole community. In the end Frontier will cater to whoever makes money, and domestics, regardless of how generic, are what people want.
The longer time + the fact that this current pack is all clones, definitely makes me think the next pack will have a few more rigs and heavy work animals than usual, everything’s back on the table - tree roo, baboon (please now there’s no reason not to
