DLC18 discussion and predictions

I only got to see (just at the right time) the confirmation of the future dlc and the jwe2 tease
Did they talk about the update and how interactions will go for guests and our new animals?

No just a basic range of more animals included such as lemurs and reindeer for the animal interactions. We still don't know the extent of what the interactions actually are, whether its just simple petting animations or extensive mechanics such as feeding.

Ok i Will be a bit cynic here (yes even more) but do You guys think is possible that they decided to do another pack after the bad reaction they got for this pack as the last DLC? Or was that ever the plan and they just needed more time to work on a bunch of more difficult to animate and design animals like monkeys, secretary, coati, etc SO the pushed it to the end of the year and just put together a "quick" pack to reléase in the middle of it?
The price of the barnyard pack being regular says it was always the plan to do another DLC after this imo

So, we got our 4th bird in a row. While that could be because they were simply the best option (kiwi was highly requested, mute swan is an incredibly recognizable animal, little blue penguin is an easy filler animal, and you can’t have a farm without chickens) I think it’s also because frontier is listening to us.

I think we have a good chance of this last dlc giving us another bird (or hopefully more) but what do you guys think are the most likely to get in? To be honest if we get a monkey I don’t know if we will get any more “complicated birds”. Still of these groups of birds what do you guys expect?
  1. Galliforms like the chicken or peafowl
  2. A ratite like the ostrich or emu
  3. A crane like the RCC
  4. A flamingo like the greater flamingo
  5. A waterfowl like the mute swan
  6. Or another penguin
I’m not sure if we will get a bird with a new rig, but my money is we could get another waterfowl. Hopefully we get more.

The two most likely ones are imo the secretary since its so heavily requested and has been for a while and the rhea because its one of the relatively few simple south american animals that are also really highly requested.
Its not necessarily what i hope for, but its what i think is the most likely

I’m in the boat where Latin American Pack is coming in the summer, and maybe an Around the World or “Community Favorites” pack to tie everything together. It would make sense to me for the final pack to “celebrate” every continent in the world because that is how Planet Zoo started, plus with the 5th Anniversary coming out, they should go out with a bang. It’ll be a nice bookend for the game.

Here's a fun idea, I looked at the top 10 wild species that would work as habitat on zootierliste by holders and I got this list:
  1. Golden Pheasant
  2. African Spurred Tortoise
  3. Mandarin Duck
  4. Greater Rhea
  5. Black Swan
  6. White Stork
  7. South American Coati
  8. Wood Duck
  9. Patagonian Mara
  10. Silver Pheasant
So my question is, how much do you want each of these animals in the game?
1. yes definitely shiny yellow bird all the way
2. we need more desert reptile rep
3. its nice but dont really care for ducks
4. round out the ratites and gives south america good rep
5. love it may be biased because its australian
6. meh a stork is nice white storks always just feel to basic for me
7. honestly I know nothing about coatis not common where im from its from south america though so its needed
8. its nice but dont really care for ducks
9. looks like a capybara crossed with a rabbit and I approve of this vision
10. looks like a honey badger if it was a bird so its cool

3. its nice but dont really care for ducks
Blasphemy

Given what we already know about DLC making the decision was taken months ago (and they said that the DLC is on the work already). But maybe the backlash made them to decide and confirm there is another DLC in the future. That was a bit unprecedented move so some strong reason must be behind the announce.

IF we had some more packs in the future, it may mean a change for a 4 month distance between DLCs? End of April, End of August, End of December. They would have more time to prepare the DLC while still being a regular schedule.
Quoting myself again, sorry, but... Now that they have confirmed at least one more DLC, I'm wondering if it may be a way to manage the fact that we are waiting more than usual and/or they will be releasing it on a different date. And if the objective is reaching the magic number of 200 species two more packs would be ideal. So maybe these last 4 months since Christmas DLC are going to become the new schedule?

That one i can see. This is a very controversial DCL since many people really wanted it and other really didnt, feels like there isnt many people in between.
Confirming it isnt the last DLC, which was a big part in why people on the negative side were so against it, might be a good solution to sooth them.

Yes I hope so, quite possibly we got more clones in this pack because they are working hard on our new monkey rigs 😀 a girl can dream!

Now the real question is how long we will wait for the next one. This thread might actually reach 600 pages like the winter one lol

I'm hoping the rhea and pelican, but i know we'll get the freaking flamingo though. Is just so obvious because is literally the opposite of what i want and that's how packs have been for me lately lol

Imma be honest, I'm gonna assume that, if we get more DLC this year, then summer is likely gonna be standard. But it's actually not a bad thing. I've learned that the standard packs are where the new rigs/animations are, bringing in many more unique animals that future packs, most notably animal packs, will build off of.
So, what it's gonna be we have no clue. Maybe it'll be another regional thing, like India (which would actually kinda rock), maybe even Islands (more international as opposed to the Oceanía pack). Somehow, Frontier always finds scenery that works, not just with the theme but with the community.

Take all the past build themes:
  1. Arctic brought us useful wood pieces
  2. South America brought us amazing bamboo
  3. Australia is great on its own
  4. Aquatic brought some excellent faux pieces and the beach theme isn't bad either
  5. África brought sandstone
  6. Europe has the useful rustic pieces
  7. Conservation has many backstage props
  8. Twilight gave us some nice European pieces to build with, like the fences, shingles roofs, and stone walls
  9. Tropical brought us improved ruins pieces which also work great for SA
  10. Oceanía brought things like ropes and nets and even more beach theme items

So, even if a theme itself is lame or downright terrible, there's always gonna be something in there that people will use. That's partly why I'm not so against standard packs now as I was before
Africas biggest strength was honestly more plaster pieces all the scenery packs have been at most average non have been bad
I genuinely believe that the farm animals are those that are initially ignored or disliked, but then turn out to be so loved. Like the llama, I don't hear anybody talk bad about them anymore, and I definitely love llamas
I still think the llama was a weird choice for a south america scenery pack especially when at the time south america had 2 total habitat animals but I like the llama as a concept.
The metawishlist is not the only means of measuring popularity. Wishlists are posted as pictures across the forum, Reddit etc and there are plenty of petting zoo wishlists with these kinds of animals.
even on those wishlists the only common ones where highland cattle and alpaca the theme is popular just not any of the animals they picked
