ARX store inflation

I would gladly accept the price increase on console if we actually got something in return, but in there own words, console is going to continue to get didily squat,Nada, nothing, ziltch., this is one feature that I ( and I think I speak for other console players) would have gladly done without.

The prices aren't much different compared to other games with a cosmetics store.

Only just noticed this reply to me, sorry.

I again would point towards the cost of DLCs for the other FDEV games, I mentioned this earlier. I mean can you imagine the uproar if they charged £7 (say) for a single ride in PC, an individual animal in PZ or JWE or even a building (whereas their DLC PACKS are priced at £7.99).

Ramping up the cost of already-produced repaints, COVAS, weapon-effects, etc by huge amounts (at least 15% I think, many even much more) is just disrespectful in the extreme.

Please don't suggest I should compare this with horse-armour.

what, if u r comparing it with mobiles game then yes 💀
Can't believe someone defend this inflation 😂
Or u comparing it with star citizen or destiny which is cash grab games
Here is my comparison with other games that didn't do cash grab: nms has free dlcs, bp everytime and warframes is really good example of f2p,

There is only one name that need be uttered here: Baldur's Gate 3
The gold standard of how to make big money in the modern games industry without abusing your customers. Funnily enough the formula seems to be as simple as: make a quality product and sell it for an honest price.

Perhaps we should all go and try to convince Sven that he really, really, really, wants to try his hand at an epic space game. Of course all the ships would be gay*, but it would be bloody glorious.

*Obligatory clarification ;)

The price hike is pretty steep.
I wouldn't have removed the date specificity from some paint jobs etc., rather add some new ones or even put up a poll for what sort of suit, weapon, ship cosmetics people might like to see and pay for.
Hell, I'd even say I'd be happy to put in a yearly contribution for something like removing the upkeep cost on a carrier just because I like playing Elite when I have time and having things look certain ways, but that's me.
Perhaps it would have been better to go for lower ARX prices and more options rather than the approach that's taken. I didn't understand the "difficult to navigate" part of the shop, rather the "there's no need to navigate it because nothing really changes".
Pretty sure I'm not the only one in that boat at least.

You see, how I would have done this would be to improve the experience of trying to purchase things first. Let me see a simulation of what my ship/Cmdr would look like in different environments after application of the kit/paintjob. Had this been done, uptake might have increased so much the price rises weren't even necessary. But I'm certainly not going risk potentially paying for a paintjob I later decide I don't like because I couldn't get a good view of it, at these prices.

But what's the ratio to real world currency? Did that change as well?

And why isn't this announced or explained in a News post?
Systems like 'Arx' are introduced to obfuscate how much money people are spending on stuff. That's the whole purpose. Make it hard to figure out how much money you're spending, and you'll spend more, probably without realizing it or being able to figure it out.

Arx are quite easy in £ - around 2000 is a rough guide. (I don't know other currency ratios)
So, last week a suit skin was 'around' £8 (a bit steep, but on the limit of OK) and today around £12

But the principle you illustrate is quite correct, conceal the cash price.

Seriously no one should be excusing this, it's downright wrong. It's all well and good to increase the cost of ARX because it effects only the future purchasers. By simply doubling the cost (or there abouts) of store items, they've applied the effect retrospectively to anyone who held ARX. It's such a terribly thought out solution, oh wait it's frontier, the home of ill thought out solutions.

For clarity, I have no ARX

When Frontier announced that there would be a change to the cosmetics store I decided to record the ARX prices for all cosmetics. I recorded them all in a google sheet here.

Just a few, for reference. Absolutely ridiculous.
