ARX store inflation

But what's the ratio to real world currency? Did that change as well?

And why isn't this announced or explained in a News post?

A change to the store was announced.

🚀 Greetings Commanders!

We've got an update for you on the release of the Python Mk II, as well as changes coming to the gamestore:

I’ve no clue what ARX purchase prices have been, this is what is listed now.

As much as I like supporting the game financially, and we were well warned this was coming, I can't say I'm not glad I sorted out my suit cosmetics when I did. That'd be more than a little more painful on the wallet now. Here's hoping we get some really cool stuff added soon to make it more tempting.

I'm surprised that people are surprised that FDev is trying to monetize more on Elite. Of course this means increasing prices and finding new ways to cash in. Of course they will keep on doing that up to the point of a negative market response. It is in the hand of the customers if and how long they are willing to go that way together with FDev.

Ooof!

P.S. show notes for last week's Lave Radio includes a link in the community section to a spreadsheet with old prices if anyone was curious.
(plus you get a bloody good interview with Derin thrown in for good measure!)
It was an excellent interview!

Maybe some of the armchair devs around here ought to listen to it to get a small idea about how game development works in a bigger software house. :)

Expected the prices to drop actually based on the "warning", increasing the prices on old paintjobs/suit cosmetics that were imo overpriced already might be innovative and synergistic but it's not going to get people to buy more stuff.

From what we know the upcoming Powerplay 2.0 stuff will reward ARX for weekly quests like a mobile game so we can assume you can potentially also get more free arx to offset this for people who don't want to spend on cosmetics on top of the game.

Prices for the ARX packs look unchanged, so it's still about 2000 ARX = £1, depending on exactly how much you're buying.

Of course this means increasing prices
Not necessarily - their marginal per-unit cost for all of the cosmetics is essentially zero, so if they'd sell more than double the amount at half the price, decreasing prices would be better for them. I was always fairly surprised that people were paying the previous prices for quite a lot of the stuff, but apparently they were, so...

I was expecting the price increases to go live with the other changes, on the 7th, not today (not that it makes much difference).

The price of the ARX is unchanged (as already mentioned by Ian Doncaster): I have been tracking it recently, and it's exactly as it was in the past weeks.

I imagine that at the next sale, the new discounted prices will be comparable to the previous full prices (if not higher), depending on the discount.

Of course they will keep on doing that up to the point of a negative market response.
They have just hit that for me, £12.99 for a suit skin, no thank you. (I can buy a new ship for less!)
It is in the hand of the customers if and how long they are willing to go that way together with FDev.
It will be interesting seeing what happens in the future.

With the pay to not delay Python MK2 fee being ~16k ARX I would alter a variable so the silver package in the ARX store was a couple thousand shy of filling that need for someone starting at 0 ARX to push them to a gold package purchase.

I will be giving a lot more consideration to how I will spend my Arx in the future. I'm internally debating whether or not to continue buying Arx semi-regularly on a monthly basis.

Also, has any mention been made of changes to how much Arx we get playing the game? Because the store front price increases basically mean that the "value" of our "earnings" (for want of better terms) has been effectively cut in half, if not more than that.
