DLC18 discussion and predictions

Yeah at least one is coming within a year or 2, their financial report covered briefly about the release of a creative management simulation game which describes the planet series of games.
More than just one, they're releasing 3 CMS games in FY25, FY26 and FY27.
Neither of these would actually work, as child-modeled guests can't separate from adult-modeled guests. They aren't individuals. From the way guests seem to work, it's an all or nothing situation. If you want children separated from adults, they will have to spawn alone without adult guardians, and then we end up with a bunch of unattended children running around. Either way, adults will have to also use playground equipment and classrooms.
They've been able to somewhat detach from the parents since the education items because whilst they spawn in a group they are still individuals, but children can very much detach completely from their parent groups now in the animal encounter. Children will walk around on their own, and IIRC I actually saw a parent gesture at their kid to come over and pet an animal.

On top of that, school groups already exist in the game. As Vigoga discovered a while back, schools can visit the zoo through a guided tour. As you can see right here.

So honestly, playgrounds and classrooms are technically a lot more feasible than before. Yes, you'll still need to provide something for the adults, but that could easily be done by requiring you to add a special seat/bench to the area where the adults would sit.

I'm not saying either of them are guaranteed, but we're honestly quite close.

That's so interesting, never really noticed that children can walk on their on and the thing with the school tours is also pretty interesting.
Thanks for sharing this!

That is cool. As before I had only seen groups of 6 or less.

Yeah there've been a fair few massive debates on this forum about cetaceans so I think we're all a bit hesitant to comment and rehash it 😅 if Frontier did a Planet Planet game where we could build wild habitats and ecosystems, that would be something!
Planet EcoSystem - Now that would be cool and would go along with their naturalistic outlook to Planet Zoo. Zoo gave us the chance to increase the wild populations... EcoSystem allows us to keep that wild world we've released them into in top notch condition.

That’s a bit daft, it’s only a video game. I don’t see much difference in locking any other animal in a cage.

Its still promoting something that seen as unethical in real life by most people knowledgable on the topic.
I mean i personally wouldnt mind to much if they added whales, but dont have any real desire for them either. But i can definetly see frontier trying to avoid such a topic that for sure would get them a decent amount of bad press.
In quite a few countries the captive keeping of ceteceans is even illegal now and zoos there are bound by law to phase them out

Imagine PETA finding out about Planet Zoo through a Orca dlc, oh my god 😂

There's one other highly-requested feature that often gets forgotten about, though; the international food shops from Coaster. And even though the free update doesn't always tie into the DLC, this feature, along with hotels, would tie together nicely with a world tour to finish off the game.
Yessss, I really want this one! I would help so much if we can make an asian area with shops that actually sell Asian food (as for other parts of the world). I really do get sick of the mainly American junkfood options we have right now.

I understand all this, but it’s still only a game. Planet Zoo allows me to put a Lion in with a Warthog and well yanno. I absolutely love Orca whales, and I would never visit a park that showcases them, but I’d still love to build them a unique home in the game.

I was opposed to the idea of orcas and Dolphins in a zoo game but since the game gives u so much freedom on what you can do, i would just use them in a natural setting. Rudi made a dolphin enclosures in it's scicily zoo and is just the Open ocean that you can watch from the cliffs of the zoo and i liked that idea. But you could also make a rehabilitatión center for marine mammals or something like that. What i don't think that it should be implemented is shows and tricks and training of the animals like in ZT2.

Irl i don't support orcas and dolphins in captivity just to be clear, but those are all ethical.ways to play with them in a game.

Agreed. Keep shows/tricks away from the game. But I’d love to build a huge beach Cove. Keep it as natural as possible.

Yeah if they had given the NZ island map some buildable terrain in the sea these possibilities would be so much more realisable. I really wish they'd done that, mainly so I can have a ship entrance but it would also open the door to a marine DLC. What about a map that is mainly sea and some dotted little islands that was provided alongside a marine DLC? What if there was a requirement that habitats for cetaceans must not be fully enclosed? Idk there are definitely work arounds to stop people putting them in glass tanks but I don't see any of it actually happening

I also don't see cetaceans happening in Planet Zoo, especially not at this point of the game where we are close to ending support. I also don't see flying birds and fish/aquariums happening.

I may be one of the few here but I'm not against cetaceans in captivity. I do have a big problem with the way these animals are showcased because it's still a sterile arena atmosphere in most of the holdings. Would appreciate if there would be more naturalistic habitats like zoos nowadays build for almost any other animal. There are some exceptions like the great dolphin lake in Harderwijk (Netherlands) and also Nuremberg in Germany has quite a nice and kind of naturalistic dolphin habitat (although there are still a lot of seating areas around). I personally don't think there is any really approbiate orca holding in the world, because they have such a complex social structure but in my opinion it's possible to keep every animal in captivity in theory. It's just the question if someone has enough space and money.
But bottlenose dolphins are doing fine in human care in my opinion. Nowadays they are breeding really well, in some parks already in the 4th or 5th generation and also life expectancy is much higher than like 30 years ago. Considering the American and European bottlenose dolphins originate from populations which live in shallow coastal areas and which do not migrate far, I don't think they are doing bad in human care. Yes, they are very intelligent and need a lot of enrichment (and yes, training can be an effecitive way to do so) but this also counts for pigs and crows.
