DLC18 discussion and predictions

Even I feel bad for the builders... :( I'm hoping this next pack and/or the last one could have a full scenery set somehow... Which themes do you want?
I'd like a generic/modern theme because it seems like no matter what you build they all seem heavily stylized. The only sort of neutral theme to me is Classic actually, with the brick.
I'd also like, flexicolor reward statues. :) Please? More flexicolor in general... Maybe much smaller generic shape pieces too?
Hard to choose just one. Caribbean, Modern, Urban, Bavaria/Tudor, Log Cabin, Hacienda…I’d love them all.

If i had to pick what would actually be most useful, probably an urban them me. Lots of city type items and buildings. So that if you want to build your zoo in the middle of a city you can. It can be done now but with a lot of work.

Still want a log cabin set if for no other reason than getting a horizontal axis wood set.

I mean the last 3 animal packs weren’t so bad! They were:
  1. 1 bird, and 6 ungulates
  2. 1 bird, 1 tortoise, 1 mustelid, 1 bear, and 4 ungulates
  3. 1 rodent, 1 cat, 1 snake, and 5 ungulates
It’s not like we haven’t got a monkey in over 1,000 days, and got more ungulates in one year than the entire clade of aves represented in the game!

I’ll agree, I think this next pack could fix a lot, but I understand the hesitation. It’s something like we could finally get a duck and a monkey, then the rest of the pack is cat, dog, and even more ungulates.

It makes me feel bad. Ungulates are such a beautiful group of mammals, I do feel bad they seem to get a bad rap on this forum. I’ll also say though, they have had plenty of time to build a roster up and I hope frontier actually uses the next pack to diversify the other areas of the roster. The barnyard pack is a bit unfair to use in the “frontier loves ungulates too much argument” but at the same time we could have got a rabbit and/or another bird.

I’ll be hopeful, but I totally get why you and others are still very hesitant.
Yeah i love ungulates aswell. Its more of a situation of eating a meal you really enjoy way to often, eventually you get sick of it.

If I had to get a theme, something that fits the woodlands. Like some rustic/ log cabin building. Maybe we could get a cool forest pack with monkeys, birds, etc.

Here, I’ll throw something together real quick:

The Forest Pack
  1. Black Howler Monkey, the ⭐️ of the pack
  2. Wood Duck, while I would love the WFWD or MD the wood duck would fit best for this theme I think. But they could also equally work.
  3. White nosed Coati, got to give SA some more of the love.
  4. Golden pheasant, found in the forests of China I think it could work with the theme.
  5. Exhibit animal: the chameleon is found in all sorts of forests, any species will do. I’ll say panther chameleon for now.
A lot of the building pieces will be like log cabins, and maybe some generic “research in the forest” types of props. Like binoculars and more rope pieces. Some new flexicolor wood would be nice. As well as some wood covered in moss/ lichen.

Oh my goodness! I'd buy that in a heartbeat! The Howler monkey is soooo adorable majestic. I'd prefer white-nosed Coati to South American. I love the Wood duck and I want any pheasant. And that's the chameleon I want. And the theme would be cozy.

I’m honestly fine with getting 3 animal packs in a row, the game needs more animals than it does pieces, and even if those animals aren’t the most popular they still are more animals and more options to choose from. I’m at a good state right now with pieces, if we did get another scenery pack we would probably just get a new beam for the 100th time, a wall set that looks useful at first but really isn’t later on (like Oceania and conservations imo) and like 10 pieces I will actually use regularly. I would rather trade those 10 for 3 more animals. What I would like is more foliage, but we get that in the free updates usually anyway so I’m satisfied.

This is something i could agree on if the animal packs actually deliver animals i think are missing in the game. The way they currently are is mainly just expanding animal groups that are already well represented in the game.
In which case whats the big difference really between getting a new beam set for the 100ths time or another antelope for the 100ths time?
So for me its the other way around, id much rather have the 10 pieces i regulary use over 3 animals id probably use once at best.

With all that said i would actually be fine with a barnyard type deal going forward, like 6-7 animals and the rest are pieces, provided the the animals are worth (to me) sacrificing the full set for.

I want more animals. I'm fine with pieces. BUT what i really need is a modular netting set. Come on Frontier we know u have ornitophobia but but not only birds are kept in netted enclosures you know? And it really is a pain to build them piece by piece.

Copium and Hopium for sure, but I can see a pack with monkeys and/or birds and following the barnyard pack. 7 animals and 60 or so pieces. We could get some cool netting and that would be neat.

Copium and Hopium for sure

Yeah completly

How would it be called? Wings and tails pack? 😜

I can SEE an arboreal animal pack happening though.

1. Coati
2. Ocelot
3. Spider monkey
4. Scarlet ibis
5. Tamandua
6. Birds or monkey number two (Golden lion tamarin or mantled guereza/ i can't think of a good habitat birds that is also associated with trees )
7. Tree kangaroo

Treetops pack; it'll also come with new faux pieces that look like trees and vines

I love building but I'd always take an animal pack over a scenery pack. I could do with more tiny pieces, useful material pieces (net, glass, beams) flexi/mirrored reward statues and definitely more foliage, but more animals would always entice me more.

I would like a few more props like gardening boots and gloves, a few musical instruments, some museum set pieces, fossils etc. But the first thing I look at with a new pack and look forward to getting excited about are the animals.

Hey on the musical instrument note, wouldn't it be a cool update to get a new entertainment feature with small curbside bands and video theatres that we could add in to our parks? What if there could be musicians that also entertain the animals, have you seen the videos of elephants and horses rocking along to pianos and singing drums etc?

Actually, a good bird candidate could be the ground hornbill

Also I have been really into sea birds lately, I don’t think we will get more than a possible pelican or 4th penguin. Still there is one goober I think would get me possible more excited than a duck:

⭐️ Atlantic Puffin ⭐

Honestly after seeing them at different zoos and aquariums I think they can be doable on the penguin rig. In captivity they don’t fly almost at all, the most they do is just getting to a rock perch or doing a small “jump”. A good handful of birds can do this already in game. Mostly they seem to swim in the water or chill out.

Do I think they will happen? No. But this would be an awesome way to get another bird for Europe and our first bird for North America. For the people who do care it is also more “exotic” than the mallard duck.

Overall I want a duck more, but this would get me super hyped.
I am all for this, I LOVE puffins and they’re easy to keep in zoos.
