Did I ever tell you the definition of insanity?

Insanity is making the exact... same SA wishlist... over and over again expecting frontier to change... that. is. crazy. The time someone told me that, I dunno, I thought they were lying to me so, I mocked him. The thing is... he was right. And then, I started seeing, everywhere I looked all these forum members, everywhere I looked doing the same exact wishlist... over and over and over and over again thinking this time it's gonna be different. No no no please... THIS TIME IT'S GOING TO BE DIFFERENT!

I don’t see us NOT getting to 200 animals when we are so so close. I really think we can either expect a couple more packs OR one bigger final pack. Well, I’m hoping so anyway. Even if the extra four or five animals in the pack ARE the most basic of reskins, that’s better than having eight animals!!
A normal animal pack would get us to 195, soooooo maybe a "SURPRISE! Here's a scenery pack too lol" in the fall?

Yeah the whole SA thing did make speculation really stale tbh.
Pretty much everyone agrees that SA needs an animal pack next, and overtime there really crystalized a core roster of monkey, bear, coati, ocelot, rhea and mara
monkey, and another monkey, bear, coati, ocelot, rhea and mara

Or the American Flamingo. Or my little friend the Brazilian Porcupine or Scarlet Ibis

Also a Tamarin or two so that's more monkeys.

Bush Dog? Tayra? Viscacha? Yes please.

I swear I could easily do two animal packs for Latin America and I'd still have more I want, and that's not even getting into Macaws and Toucans that we know won't come.

Real question, not trying to be dumb. I don’t get why people want the rhea. Out of all the birds missing in the game, why add another ratite? They seem very over represented when it comes to birds especially considering we have no parrots, storks, raptors, pigeons, toucans….etc. am I missing something.

Because the rhea is a keystone species from South America. Just like you can make mixed African savannah habitats with the ostrich, it's the same for the rhea. While not really bringing anything new, it's an important animal for the region and is as much needed as the American black bear and even monkeys, I'd argue

A keeper collection pack is actually a really smart move for PZ specifically since it doesn't necessarily need to cover all continents like world tour / around the world pack would. They could do a couple from Africa and SA then 1 from Asia, NA, Australia, etc. they can really do any mix up they want - which excites and scares me at the same time lol. I'll be surprised if they don't choose this for the final pack.

Also about the rhea, its wanted because its a key species to South America, and btw yesterday when I was at my local zoo I saw an Ostrich very up close and now I really wanna see either an Ostrich remaster or better yet the rhea since its very similar to the Ostrich. The feathers could look so much better than they do in the game at the moment.

Interesting! I had no idea.

None of those are comparable. We don't have any aviary birds in the game and at this point we're definitely not getting any, so why bother putting them on a list? The rhea might not be the most interestng choice of bird but it's a realistic option. Choosing a parrot is choosing a fantasy; at this point you might as well ask for a unicorn or sasquatch at the same time.

Yes this. Thanks Quell for saying it so clearly. I do understand the point that it might be boring and an ostrich clone though so i don't expect a lot of people to want the rhea or be happy if we get it, but is one of my most wanted animals.

I'm still really confused as to why people are convinced Frontier wants to hit 200 species? I don't even fully get it from a marketing perspective because you'd need to buy all of the DLC to get those 200+ species. And somebody buying a "Complete Collection" or whatever down the line won't care if it's 190, 195, or 205 species.

I just don't see them hitting this arbitrary number as something Frontier probably considers all that important in the end... I'd love to be wrong because, hey, more content is more better but I just don't see it.

If they want to make a big deal out of selling the complete bundle, I could kind of see it make sense.

With just 201 you can write 200+, and not every person will realize how small that + is. Far from all players look as much into the details as people here do. 200+ looks promising.

If we land at like 197, they can either just go with the exact number or write 190+. But I think most people would realize that would mean 199 at max. Because if you cross a hundred, you wouldn't start at a lower number

I get that 200+ would look a nice round number on paper. That's a decent, logical reason to do it. But unless the remaining species are clones in the way that the butterflies are... That's a long way to go to use that as a selling point (3+ months of work across however many employees that could be spent on a new game).

I'd feel more convinced of this being a likely scenario if there were more competition. My thinking is that if people want to buy a zoo sim, whether it's got 175+ or 200+ probably won't change their desire to purchase the game. But maybe they've done some marketing research and figured out that's not the case. :ROFLMAO:

I'm not even thinking we won't necessarily get to 200 (because we might). I'm just not convinced it's any reason other than happenstance if we do.

Oh, definitely. Haha. I can't speak to how requested any of these dinosaur species are but... That pack name just feels like a catch-all for a "whatever dinosaurs" pack. Hah.

What's weird is that the pack and update don't seem to have anything to do with actual park management?

EDIT: Also? Charli was right! It's not a bigger pack, nor is it more expensive than usual. Could be the last one and they've changed the pattern. Could also be that there's more coming. I would be really curious to see what the JWE community feels about this one and if it has "final pack" vibes.
I wonder if instead of one bigger than normal pack they are going for 2 packs really close together as a way to end it and maybe we might see that for planet zoo

Guess having 2 animal packs in a row being ungulate heavy is enough to upset people.
if we are looking purely at animal pack its 3 in a row and yeah I think its upsetting people the first couple of animal pack were good they finally perfected them with wetlands and grasslands then decided ungulates were all the game needed.
Nope. I meant the domestic one haha
The inclusion of the donkey is the first time since australia that we have gotten a second subspecies of something every animal between australia and barnyard has been its own distinct species and in general most of the game are this way with the 2 brown bears and 2 tigers in the base game and the 3 grey wolves being the only exception. We can now add the donkey to the list which could of had its place replaced with something like a duck, rabbit.

This is why I whole heartedly believe we will either get a bigger summer pack or support will end after the anniversary animal this year the marketing behind 200+ animals alongside the now being bigger than every other major zoo game will for sure out way the effort of throwing in some more clones.

Isnt the pig also technically a subspecies of the wild boar?
