DLC18 discussion and predictions

...yeah I guess 😅
Also why is it called the west indian manatee anyways?
Lives exlusively in the americans, nd only on the eastern side so the atlantic ocean, not the indian ocean.
Idk maybe im just kinda dumb and missing something, but this strikes me as quiet the unfitting name?

Most likely the historical association with the old caribbean name being called the west indies in the 16-19th centuries. Blame Christopher Columbus lol

The West Indies is a subregion of North America, surrounded by the North Atlantic Ocean and the Caribbean Sea, which comprises 13 independent island countries and 19 dependencies in three archipelagos: the Greater Antilles, the Lesser Antilles, and the Lucayan Archipelago.

In 1492, Christopher Columbus became the first European to record his arrival at the islands, where he is believed by historians to have first set foot on land in The Bahamas. After the first of the voyages of Christopher Columbus to the Americas, Europeans began to use the term West Indies to distinguish this region from both the original "Indies" (i.e. India) and the East Indies of South Asia and Southeast Asia

So with the talk about the zookeeper collection pack as the final pack i think one cool way to do it would be to frame it as a zoo collection classics theme.
Meaning a bunch of animals that are really common in zoos, with maybe generic zoo scenery.
Fortunately, and probably not entirely unrelated, alot of the animals that usually get thrown aorund for final pack ideas do fit this idea pretty well.
And idk i think its a little more interesting to have an actual theme to the final pack instead of just a more or less random hodgepodge of animals

Interesting? sure I agree, but for what the game actually needs a keeper collection pack needs to happen in order for the most gaps in the game to be filled. Yes Latin America can have a pack but then the baboon, rest of the asian species, tree roo, and so on miss out, look at JWE2. Maybe not the most interesting pack theme but the pack from content creators looks like it has a positive reaction from it, because the pack includes species people wanted for a REALLY long time, Micoceratus and Meg specifically. The same should apply here, and looking at it it makes even more sense to me now.

In JWE2, the 2 outliers, Microceratus and Meg, could've both fit into packs earlier (dominion pack and aquatic pack) but they were skipped over and therefore, people wanted them more. The same thing is happening with Planet Zoo - skipping the Walrus in Aquatic or Arctic or Baboon in Arid (which I'm starting to feel like was intentional) whether they were planned skips or not, both get more attention after they weren't included in their packs. The microceratus was wanted way more after having 2 missed opportunities, and with the baboon missing like 3 and monkeys missing god knows how many, it sets them up to be fan favourites in the final pack.

Yeah i mean a pack with really common or classic zoo animals could still fill most of these holes.

-SA coati
-Patagonian mara
-White faced saki
-Mandarin duck
-Great white pelican
-Hamadryas baboon
-Spurred tortoise
-Bearded dragon/Ball python

Could be cool, i mean its not perfect but also not there worst. But i think if we dont have a real theme to the final pack, and frontier can basicly freely chose the animals they want we might have a problem at ur hands 😂

damn, I've never had to scroll to find the Summer Speculation thread, usually right at the top 😅
And also about this, i guess is quiet because most of us are not expecting a June or even Summer release. I predict a Fall release at best and maybe final stuff (if there is anything left) for Christmas.

Yeah of course, but assuming they follow the same thing JWE2 did, choosing some that were heavily wanted, 1 or 2 that are decently wanted, and a couple nobody expected but still good (unless its a damn antelope again) would probably be fine. The one thing I don't know is how much work they have put into this next pack, because the JWE2 collectors pack has basically all clones with a couple new animations sprinkled here and there with the most basic update (better than no update granted) but comparing the spring packs, PZ had a lot more work done with Barnyard than the Hybrids pack for JWE2, so idk how much work they plan to put into this next pack. I hope its at least better than Arid and Eurasia.

I still really think they'll release it in June. If they leave the game for so long people will get bored and move on, plus JWE2 did their final pack close to its previous, and the stream only said "later this year" which to me includes June.

I mean the thanatosdrakon and segisaurus sure, but how are the other two clones?

Out of the 12 packs since the last monkey, 6 could have easily included one, 10 if you do a little stretching.
Only ones where a monkey wasnt an options were barnyard and oceania
Let's see...

Tropical for sure. Any number of monkeys could've been featured there.
Arid the baboon obviously
Eurasia: golden snub nosed monkey or any indian primate
Wetlands: crab eating macaque?
Grasslands: Patas monkeys, olive baboon, vervet, grey langur, even howler to an extent.
Twilight: night monkey?
Europe: barbary macaque
North america... nothing.
Conservation: again a bunch of monkeys but spider monkey or golden lion tamarin would've been perfect fit.
Africa: again all of the african monkeys that exists but given the desert focus theme i guess the baboon once again

So other than the casual birds, SA, and monkeys, what animals would you want to see in a "collection pack?"
That's pretty much it.

Nah, I could always want more, but the basics for me:
Muskox
Tree Kangaroo
Hamadryas Baboon
American Black Bear
Eurasian/North American Otter - solely for my own wants, it's not a big community want. But I do really like otters.
Markhor
Blackbuck

Add in a King/Indian Cobra and you've got a whole animal pack there.

Second tier would be things like the Bat Eared Fox, Sulawesi Bear Cuscus, Masai Giraffe, a Jackal, Grey Kangaroo and Honey Badger.

North america: none? What about the dozens of species living in mexico, costa rica, belize and so on?

the meg is off of the dunk model with the new shark feed animation and flipper nibbling social, and the microceratus probably goes off of the homalocephale rig, the cuddle animation might be new I'm not sure. Not saying they are all direct clones, but they are all obviously cloned off of an existing species with 1 or 2 new animations added.

Yeah but at that point what isnt a clone? I mean both of these pairs are entirely unrelated. If taking the base rigs as a base for another animal does count as a clone the devil is a raccoon clone
