Alternative development of the Elite.

I realize that PP2 is coming, and maybe the war with the Thargoids will be over, and what I write below is just a figment of my imagination.

There are many games where the death of mankind happened, for example the same Fallout, etc. I thought Elite could do the same thing.

The entire bubble was taken over by the Tharogoids and burned many large stations and all the planets with atmospheres are now poisoned and there is no life on them at all.

There's no Empire, Federation, etc. No Powers. It's all anarchy with small groups. There is rampant piracy, etc. The stations are all dilapidated and the settlements on the planets. All the equipment is old and you have to pay a lot of money to fix it ...

Welcome to ELITE V !

I think many were hoping that this could have been a potential outcome of the war, if we didn't meet the Thargoids effectively enough. With how the war is currently going I'm thinking that we're meant to push them back, then (because it'd be a shame to lose the assets and gameplay) they'll pop up in PP2 every now and then as an incursion.

That said, a switcheroo ending could be fun to set up the next game, whenever that happens.

Let’s just see what happens when Titan numero quattro(4, and I don’t know much more Italian) goes down. If Frontier have written anything, in advance or not(would assume the former), I’d like to think we’ll start seeing it then.

Otherwise the remainder of this Titan arc will continue to be rather boring and the lamest way to add the Powerplay rework… because the Titans were literally just removed to make space for it(and effectively there to serve as players’ punching bags, little more).

Yes, I understand you. I'm just imagining a world after the war. There's devastation, fires, everyone's wearing patched suits. And to attack others not for enrichment, but to survive, and to take from another unbroken FSD :))

If we have any hope of ever seeing atmospheric green/blue worlds—which I think is highly unlikely at this point—then there is one thing that really must happen. Earth must be destroyed. Otherwise there will always be this "But why can't we land on earth?" whiny question and there would have to be a really lame "just because" excuse or they would have to attempt to create a believable future Earth environment with sprawling metropolises and recognisable features etc or again there would be endless whining.

Having the Thargoids destroy Earth as a final middle finger before retreating in defeat would make good sense both story-wise and from a technical perspective.

I mean, they could just permit lock it like the moon. With the implied out of universe reason that we don't actually know what it will look like over a thousand years from 2000s and such. Probably why the moon is permit locked too; we might have done something with it in real life between then and now out of universe that wouldn't match up with the timeline.

The thing is, if they do land on atmospheric planets, they'll have to lock up millions of habitable planets.
And if the Thargods would infect all the atmospheres of all inhabited planets during retreat, it would look more realistic.

I would like the thargoids to offer the following deal to humanity:

We leave if every humans's bank account resets like this:

sqrt(1000 * your money)

This gives
1000 -> 1000
1million -> 31623
100 million -> 316K
1 billion -> 1,000,000
10BN -> 3.16million
...

In the meantime the rest of us will be killing as many bugs as possible and winning the war the old fashioned way.

No offense, but I wouldn't pay $5 for that. Actually, I'd not take it if it were free. But that's just me. :)

I am also in the bug killing business, the icourier with 3 MSC is my favorite.

The goids should return now and then.

But having too much money took many things away from the game, at least for me.

There’s lots of ways to dump credits if anyone wants to.

In game I am financially independent and I like it that way. I’m sure there are many others that are as well. I really can’t imagine why anyone would sqrt(their credits) in the hopes that the bugs would retreat. So again, good luck with that.

Thargoids wouldn’t care for credits anyway. What are they to do with a virtual human currency which they are not going to use?

It’d make more sense if they demanded for humans to leave the nebula colonies… which we’re of course not going to do.

Make a deal?
I take my hat off to the developers of the game, but so cool to show not humonid, alien to us life is 5 points.
How can we allow the idea of negotiating with a colony of ants?
I remember one of Saimak's novels where he showed (I don't remember exactly) non-humonoid, five hollow life. Cube, cone, cylinder ... it was very cool.

You can put a lot of money out of the way of such a thing by buying a small number of 8A Fuel Scoops, too, so it'd really only be a vote to make people who aren't paying attention have their credits cut.

Frontier would have to create lots of new lore and game assets in such a timeline so better keep it as is.

Update 18.06 shows that the remaining 4 Titans will never end. I was expecting something like that, but I didn't know it had to be 4. Where did YOU get that information?

I didn’t. Just made an educated guess that, possibly, things may change by the fourth Titan going down, but the direction of that is not known to me.

Though my tinfoil senses have been tingling after an odd end to the latest GalNet News Digest, strangely focused on the central part of a Thargoid surface site(or as they’re otherwise known, the crashed motherships of the first war). And they are an “official Elite partner” that do sometimes get sneak peeks at upcoming content… but it could also be nothing.
