Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

Don't mention the Grey Market. There is no Grey Market. It is more a Whitebox Market, anyway.

And all that because they couldn't buy a Javelidris.

Speaking of nightrider, just a few days ago my spectrum avatar was removed. I had it for months before they noticed.

lol what a dope

I also don't like some things in MMOs, but that's the nature of the game. Chances that you meet other players is very low in ED, because players are spread out. You can play in solo or private group if you don't want that to happen.

Same here, and you know what I do, I don't play the parts that have those things in them, it's really easy, however forcing combat and PvP on players that aren't interested, well that's another thing right, that's creating content that's unavoidable.

You see I would be fine with megaship interiors that could be invaded on foot and fought through against either human, Thargoid or AI enemies with objectives and such, a sort of ground combat in space type of thing, but the big difference between ED and Starfield is that singleplayer/multiplayer divide, having other players invade my ships would be just another annoyance, another forced PvP interaction that I am not interested in, so our own ship interiors would not be useful in that regard, it would be just another ganker tactic for players to complain about. So I don't really think you can brring that sort of gameplay to ED, sad as it might seem to some players. But exploration and combat in megaships and other abandoned ship sure.
There is nothing worse than a grindy game with other players. I don't ever want to play something like ED ever again.

According to this leak Star Citizen will:
  1. Launch in 2 years with a severely reduced scope
  2. A minimum viable product
  3. 5 star systems: Stanton, Pyro, Castra, Nyx and Terra.
  4. Each star system has a single landing zone
  5. Bespoke narrative content 10-20 hours
If they launch SC like this as a full game it would exclude 95 star systems that were mentioned during the Kickstarter and funding goals: "Star Citizen will launch with 100 star systems." What about all those unfinished concept ships? Could CIG get sued for not fulfilling their Kickstarter and funding goal obligations? Many gaming journalists would give SC a low score.
I don't think we can take that seriously, 5 systems done and finished in 2 years? not gonna happen!

3 tops.
What's MVP gonna be? Cutting back on all those promises will generate lots of tears. My bet is very limited networking. Stable 100 players is probably already to high a target given the track record but you gotta aim for something.
"Bespoke" narrative content. Don't mind me but every time I read "bespoke" I sense a lot of marketing waddle. Bespoke from the rear maybe?
Single landing zone? In the major settlement that is, I guess? What else would the rest of the planet be good for otherwise - I mean you never know with these clowns.
2 years? Yeah, already stretching the original 1.0 plans aren't they?

I keep seeing Citizens say they already got more than their money worth of fun with the game.
Whatever CIG did since 2016 was pretty much because Citizens allowed them to.

The more interesting question I think is, if Star Citizen release, how long will CIG be able to keep the server running?
Without the dream crafting money and things to still do post release, I can't imagine they can sustain their server forever.

Same as of today: promise even more in the future and making sure to never deliver on past promises so there's still much to come/fix, fueled by useful idiots and newborn suckers' wallets.

Because as you said, even without fulfilling anything CIG is praised by the faithful nontheless. So basically any form of release isn't necessary by any means, and from another perspective we can assume it IS released already.

Just had a though (a random occurrence!). Considering CIG mostly runs on hype for the new ships and they are almost done with implementing new ships, what happens when they implement all new ships? Where will the money come from?

And the first concept sale of the year hoves into view...

I like how they've given it a detachable cockpit function. Just like the one the Caterpillar doesn't have...

I doubt the server cost constitute their main expenses - that'd be the bloated staff that seems to have trouble delivering results.
