Binding controls enhancement

I really wish that we there was a description of the 5 controllers that I use to know which the "Joy_2" button came from. I really need to remove a controller as the throttle of my x56 keeps ghosting and I have a solution to replace most of its functionality, but the buttons that it provides are all over the place and I have no easy way of finding them to replace them with my new solution in game. It wouldn't take much to take the "description" from the binds file and put it inside of the in game bind system. The XML already has it there:

<ExplorationFSSZoomIn>
<Primary Device="vJoy" Key="Joy_2" />
<Secondary Device="SaitekX56Throttle" Key="Neg_Joy_ZAxis" />
</ExplorationFSSZoomIn>

<ExplorationSAAChangeScannedAreaViewToggle>
<Primary Device="Keyboard" Key="Key_B" />
<Secondary Device="334403F3" Key="Joy_30" />
<ToggleOn Value="1" />
</ExplorationSAAChangeScannedAreaViewToggle>

Why couldn't those descriptions be added like this:

Forgive the poor editing but I think it gets the point across. We need an easy way, in game, that is already mostly there, to be able to tell where the button is in the real world.

So what does that look like to you? For the most part the in-game system works. It would be nice to have an out of game way to do the binds.
All I want is the ability to Save As, something with a filename I choose, instead of just Custom and whatever presets they have. Then don't go overwriting those unless I actually save over them. Bit of cherry on top, if a controller is missing from the current binds on start, don't just replace it with whatever. Popup a message and tell me what is missing so I can fix it or select a new binds file. 🤷‍♂️

I have due to huge skill or even greater amounts of luck avoided most of the issues with the binds file rewriting itself going missing or failing to find a controller where it left it.

But I fully support the suggestion as stated above by @metatheurgist give us a save as and a popup message even if the save as is limited to uppercase only you know you can do the name something thing so please tell the bindings team how it is done.

As for the ghosting which the X56 throttle is legend for, a powered USB hub fixes it.
Actually, it doesn't. I have tried everything. I have had 2 different powered hubs, an internal PCIe card which was also powered by SATA power. None of it fixed the problem. For the longest time everything worked fine, now it's decided to be a problem again. Hence my need to remove the binds from the throttle and move the controls to a different scheme. Additionally, I was going to replace it anyways, just sooner than anticipated.

This wasn't about fixing my ghosting; it was about a better interface for managing the binds.

Yes, agreed, agreed, agreed and agreed. Those are all good points. There is a work around for the first bit. If you go to the binds folder, you can mess about with the file internally, then rename the file to match the heading you made it, and it will be "saved as" a different binds file. Let me know if you need to know how and where to do that.

Also, in DCS if you're in the control setup, pressing a button or moving an axis on your controller jumps to and highlights what it's bound to. It's such a timesaver if you have a "What's this do?" moment and wish it was implemented in Elite, too😛
