Get smashed!
I understand you, and I don't know how to solve it.Earned in game for Rank and Credits OR purchased with ARX would seem like a pretty straightforward way to handle a couple of new Imp / Fed ships.
Personally I hope they do that - both Imp and Fed desperately need a medium ship that can match the Chieftain, FDL and now Python MkII.
I used the FAS as an AX station CZ ship for quite some time, until the lack of hardpoints and utility slots just became too limiting with all of the changes and scope creep on AX combat. I then switched to a Cutter but it wasn’t half as fun and I lost interest.I understand you, and I don't know how to solve it.
Even if we revamp FAS a little bit to the right level, since it's not good for AX or PvP duels right now.
At least remodeling the FAS would make it more like its name, Assault.
I have no idea what to do with the Empire.
I also had an unemployed FAS since I switched to a Krait for general AX combat. Just recently, though, I've repurposed the FAS for Titan attack. It's more of a specialised activity so you can fit all the stuff needed, and the speed is good for getting away from interdictions on the way in.I used the FAS as an AX station CZ ship for quite some time, until the lack of hardpoints and utility slots just became too limiting with all of the changes and scope creep on AX combat. I’ve also used a FAS for a general purpose salvage/scan/courier/combat mission runner. It does work in that role but it’s hugely compromised and both the Cheiftain and the Krait massively outclass it for that. To me, it would make absolute sense that CD would introduce a newer variant (or new ship altogether) to compete in that class rather that sitting still.
For Imperial stuff I couldn’t really say since I don’t tend to fly their ships - other than having had a Cutter simply for the cargo space (which is an odd niche for a luxury craft to fill …) that I then tried for AX combat. I understand the Courier is pretty good so maybe a medium ship along similar lines would be popular?
Thinking on … a Large freighter with more cargo space than the Cutter would probably make sense “in universe” as well but would be an odd move having already done the Type 8.
It's purely for fan as there aren't many weapon slots. There are FDL, KraitMK2, PythonMK2 even chief would be better for this.I also had an unemployed FAS since I switched to a Krait for general AX combat. It's limited. I have a nanite launcher and three AX MCs or missiles. I'm still messing about a bit with the build. I've found that the escape speed is a big advantage though. It's purely for fan as there aren't many weapon slots. There are FDL, KraitMK2, PythonMK2 even chief would be better for this.
I've been comparing FAS for a long time on different parameters and it always gets worse![]()
Compare it yourself, without a shield the same Chieftain or KraitMk2 wins, with a shield the FDL and PythonMK2 wins. It's limited. I have a nanite launcher and three AX MCs or missiles. I'm still messing about a bit with the build. I've found that the escape speed is a big advantage though.
Utility slots are enough; I have two caustic sink launchers in there. BTW it's all shieldless.
Yes, sure, I'm not saying it's the meta. I just already had the FAS built with tough hull and wanted to find a use for it. And the speed is useful for getting out of trouble; I haven't had a rebuy so far.Compare it yourself, without a shield the same Chieftain or KraitMk2 wins, with a shield the FDL and PythonMK2 wins.
All win by any metric.
Speed, shield, armor, firepower, cooldown, maneuverability.
Give me any FAS build I will do the same on any other ship and it will be better than FAS, always.
No you misunderstand, it's made for Fighting freighters. Introducing the T-9 puncher!
It’s okay for there to be obsolete ships. That happens in real life too.No point in the T7 anymore, but there was. It's definitely not the first time Frontier have invalidated their own game with their choices.
In CZ, npcs on mk3 cobras are a frequent enemy.Frankly, I think we should have NPCs flying cobra Mk IIIs around.
Oops. I meant to say mk2. I meant like the one at the crash siteIn CZ, npcs on mk3 cobras are a frequent enemy.

I didn’t think either Cobra Mk2 actually worked well enough to actually crash.Oops. I meant to say mk2. I meant like the one at the crash site
It had a 100% crash-free flight record (due to melting from massive acceleration heat on the first flight)I didn’t think either Cobra Mk2 actually worked well enough to actually crash.
Used to be cool, special nests just for rockets and everything was balanced. Now, as many as there were no nests, they'll stuff 6-8 shard cannons in there and don't care about everything. It had a 100% crash-free flight record (due to melting from massive acceleration heat on the first flight)
Yeah that is the one bad thing about restriction-free modding. MWO has a similar problem with people building entirely around alpha-striking often using only one kind of weapon. PGI introduced a mechanic they call ghost heat which means that firing more than a certain number of a particular weapon at once (the exact number is a balancing point now and varies with weapon type) causes exponential heat gain. Simple but effective.Used to be cool, special nests just for rockets and everything was balanced. here, in principle, too, the distributor is small, the energy for the weapon decreases faster, which also leads to overheating.Yeah that is the one bad thing about restriction-free modding.
