DLC18 discussion and predictions

I really hope we are gonna receive packs till the end of this fiscal year. That would be a perfect situation.
I doubt it. My current predictions about DLCs left are split between one last pack in November for Anniversary or two more packs (July/August + December + Anniversary). I hope for the last one, i think the first option is more realistic but i hope is a larger DLC (and the larger part is not just an animal pack with scenery set but more animals)

I believe there was a reliable leak confirming jwe3
Idk I perfer to keep giving a great game love so it can be the best it can be as opposed to buying a new game to correct problems and give you features that the original game could have had
This year it is hard to say with the next dlc as it could be this month or it could be random to make up for time with the console releases.
Anyone see anything suspicious on the data base?

Will be interesting to see what changes they make to warrant a 3rd game

It's funny because, where my head is at now, I'm actually thinking it'll be one final pack a little later (fall; late August/early September) simply because summer feels too soon and anytime after that just feels like such a long slog with no activity at all.

But I'm also still not convinced that an anniversary update/free thing makes sense for this year if they're ending things. I feel like that could be potentially confusing for folks.

It wasn't really a leak nor did it explicitly confirm JWE3. But it's been confirmed that Frontier and Universal struck a deal to a create a third game using the Jurassic Park IP so... People are assuming (probably correctly) that it's another JWE game that would be coming in FY26.

So it's definitely likely that it's JWE3 but it's not really confirmed (technically).

Quick Question, anyone remember how many weeks in advance the lqa was updated for the Barnyard pack before we actually got an announcement?
It got updated on the 9th and then again on the 11th (~3 weeks ahead of release).

Thing is, for June, the 25th is the last Tuesday of the month. So if it were to be updated along the same time table for this month it would only be ~2 weeks ahead of release. I really don't think June is happening.

I agree June is becoming extremely unlikely, but I do still think the next one will be the last one and will be probably in July.
JWE2 had its packs this year on March 13 (hybrids pack) and May 16 (Collection pack) so just over 2 months apart. So if we look at the next couple tuesdays after June 30 ( 2 months directly after the release of Barnyard) we're at a release of the 2nd or the 9th of July. Of course this doesn't confirm anything since they are 2 different games, but lets face it both are ending support, ones already extinct (I'm so funny ) I really think their plan is to wrap up both games in the first half of the year then focus on the new game in the second half. Why they haven't announced the new game yet is strange to me though, games fest would've been the perfect way to announce it at least imo.

I'm in agreement that both are ending and that JWE2 is fully lights-out at this point (for multiple reasons)...

Your points make logical sense. And you have more evidence to support your thinking than mine. Haha. I just feel like it's a little soon and the apples-to-oranges between the mostly-clone and/or species from the earlier game vibe for of the spring JWE2 DLC versus the Barnyard pack with its new mechanics, relatively unique species and such is my biggest driver in this thinking. It's definitely possible but something about a July release just feels off to me. And September would still be early enough to not conflict with whatever game they have coming out because that would inevitably not be until October/November.

As for Summer Games Fest there's still a chance they announce something! The PC games showcase is tomorrow. I'm still not 100% convinced they'll be dropping anything but it would make the call with investors a little easier on Wednesday AM if they had formally announced plans for a new game, eh? :ROFLMAO:

One thing I forgot to mention also is if the next pack for PZ is the last pack, it would mirror JWE2s approach to ending support as well. For JWE2 we got the hybrids pack which was something that a lot of players needed before support ended for that game, the hybrids weren't included from the beginning and now they're in. For Planet Zoo, a large portion of the community wanted petting zoo animals and a lot of the community would be upset if support ended and we didn't get them. You see the connection? Both games end in 2024 with 2 packs, 1 as a "this is gonna be controversial but we need to add it" type pack, and a "here's the last few species you wanted before we end it" type pack. Again 2 different games but come on it lines up almost perfectly it just can't be a coincidence. I'm extremely confident the next one for PZ will be the last.

Oh really? Had no idea I thought all of the new games were yesterday, very excited then!

This feels like a stretch for me. The effort involved in that one JWE2 pack is significantly less than adding a brand new feature, etc. At a super high-level it makes sense but it's just not the same in practice...

The JWE2 pack literally felt like a "let's do something small, easy, and bare minimum" pack. The Barnyard pack was certainly not that.

Yup! Like most of these things it's hard to know exactly what to expect based on the description but...

"PC Gamer's showcase of the latest & greatest in PC games is back for its 10th year. Expect announcements for your favourite games, and a few surprises"

I am still really confused as to how not telling people even developer names in advance helps them but yeah. We'll see tomorrow at 4pm EST!

But the effort put into each pack doesn't matter in this case imo, frontier knew both hybrids and petting zoo animals were the most controversial topics of each game but they had to add them so at least part of the community would be satisfied, that's why they saved them for near the end of support for both games.

Well here’s hoping we hear some cool news today!
Yup! That PC games event is happening at 9pm UK / 4pm EST / 1pm PST today, BTW.

Re-reading your post and I think I was confused a li'l bit. Haha. I'm fully on board with everything you said as far as why they might have saved these packs for the end of the game and yeah, it's got absolutely nothing to do with the time/energy involved.

The timing is where I disagree with you. But we already knew that. ;)
