DLC18 discussion and predictions

A roadmap would be lovely, but I really don’t think we will get more than one more dlc. If anything I can see them finishing the year, so we get two more DLCs if we are lucky. I will be very surprised if we see a “PDLC 2025”

I am not so sure if the next animal pack would be the last.
I would take any news with real excitement though.
They have really surprised us with barnyard pack. Maybe there still have something very interesting for us in store.
We will know something more on Wednesday… or not 😜

Maybe they will use the financial report on Wednesday as the starting point for reveals and stuff? Like I said, while the socials have reason to be so silent (nothing new to announce). It’s so weird that has been the case. No weekly awards, no screenshots, nothing. Either:
  1. Something is coming (may not be Planet Zoo related)
  2. The change of guard with the new CM is affecting things
  3. This is absolutely nothing and socials have been silent for 10 days for nothing.

I don't think the Planet Zoo socials being quiet has anything to do with a non-PZ related announcement. I think it's likely that they're onboarding the new CM and there's simply not much to talk about...

I also wonder how much of the pivot away from things like Workshop Wednesdays has to do with the focus on console? Since console doesn't have the Steam Workshop, or all of the DLCs yet, I could see them assuming it would create some confusion.

The social media posts might have been done by the elite dangerous or even the support team for all we know, I'm sure they have enough on their hands than make some engagement posts. A new CM might be for planet zoo or the supposed jwe3 but no guarantees for any new activity for our side of things.

But that’s basically the same case as them posting about the barnyard pack even though console players don’t get that. Yes the pack is new to console players but PC players would it would raise the same confusion.
The key difference there is that one is for promotion of the DLC and the other is simply for engagement.

The "supposed JWE3" isn't dropping until 2026. So I'd assume its' for the as-yet-unannounced CSM title for FY25 and to close-out Planet Zoo and JWE2. For now, anyway!

Its dropping next year.
The way we were saying about the jwe3 announcement made me think it was the upcoming new game 😅 Guess I can get excited for this planet window washer or whatever next!
I was confusing things! It's coming in "FY26." Which probably means it'll be next year to coincide with the release of the film in July...

"Over the next three consecutive financial years, Frontier plans to release one new CMS game per year; the development of the unannounced own-IP CMS game for FY25 is on track and Frontier expects to announce the title in the coming months; the third Jurassic World game confirmed today is scheduled for FY26; and a third unannounced CMS game is planned for FY27."

Either way, it's still more than a year away which is too soon for them to be hyping it up this summer. More likely for the new CMS game as that was set to be announced "in the coming months" as of May. I feel like that has to be announced soon to allow for a fall ramp-up.

Let's say the new planet game is something like planet city, would anyone be excited after the disaster of the new cities skylines?
Idk i think planet city isnt really something that fits the planet line. One of their main selling points has always been the piece by piece approach, and building a whole city this way would truly be a dreadfull task. Not to mention that most computers will probably explode 1 town district in.
Ofcourse they could always do a simplified approach and i expect them to lean alot more to management than creative, but at that point its really not a Planet game anymore.
So short answer: no, i most likely wouldnt be excited.

I mean if we get it beginning of July it makes sense for them to announce it end of June and showcase it on the unlocked stream.
I'm not at all convinced that we'll be getting a DLC until the fall. They said "later this year" not "in the coming months" or "this summer." And there's no reason to keep it that vague unless it's very far out.

I've been thinking about this some, and I think the reason they gave us the info they did during that livestream is because they knew it was going to be a long while before the next DLC and they didn't want people assuming hte game was over when nothing comes for a "summer" DLC. It's a very logical reason why a notoriously tight-lipped company would say something that explicit. Something they haven't done in the last four years.

With all the info out there this is what makes the most sense to me but I'm very happy to be wrong and hopefully on Wednesday they'll let us have a bit more info that changes things. Even something non-specific like saying something is coming "this quarter" or if they again say "later this year" or something could narrow it down a bit (and if I were a stakeholder and there was no formal announcement of a new game yet, I'd want to know what else was coming that would drive profits in the short-term).

When its suppose frontier will release their next CMS?
TBD. All we know is that it's supposed to be announced "in the coming months." As of May 9th.
