Frontier's been consistent in their communication strategy in that they pretty consistently
don't communicate. Which is why I think that livestream was so important. It's the first time they've ever been that direct. I think it was to keep people from panicking about the game, to keep interest up, etc. Think about it. If something were coming in the fall and it was just silence? The doomspeak would be intense at this point.
I think it was, in part, because JWE2 got two DLC right in a row. I think they knew people would panic if the same didn't happen for Planet Zoo and they wanted to manage expectations. They plan these things out. Maybe not the specific date, or even the week, but certainly they have the month planned well in advance (give or take a week). So they would know if something was coming in the summer.
And, TBH, "months" would be vague enough to give them some wiggle-room if they wanted it... I think they were trying to avoid giving false-hope about something coming so soon. We usually get a DLC every 3 months. June 30th would only between DLCs. July 30th would be 3 months between DLCs. So why are we expecting anything anytime sooner than that? And, arguably, since it was 4 months between Eurasia and Barnyard... August or September would make a
lot of sense.
I'm just really confused why people are thinking June or anytime earlier in July when all of the evidence and past patterns would dictate otherwise. I like the optimism, don't get me wrong, it just doesn't seem realistic or likely to me given the context of everything else (another CSM game already in development to the point where its nearing announcement, reduced staffing, Barnyard DLC being later than usual, the info they laid out in the livestream).
I wasn't talking about that one! There's a line in the
press release about the new Jurassic World game where they explicitly note an unannounced own-IP CMS game will be announced "in the coming months" and will be released in FY25.
"Over the next three consecutive financial years, Frontier plans to release one new CMS game per year; the development of the unannounced own-IP CMS game for FY25 is on track and Frontier expects to announce the title in the coming months; the third Jurassic World game confirmed today is scheduled for FY26; and a third unannounced CMS game is planned for FY27."
