Best Latin America pack has to have 1 of these. Prove me wrong.
I got be honest it’s not that I find them super interesting, it’s just there aren’t many rodent species I think would work outside of exhibits. The paca is one of them, it’s coat pattern is pretty cute though.I don't understand what is so interesting about the paca or the nutria that i see mentioned frequently but yeah i agree with mara being my top priority.
The mara is more important to me, but they are both cool. The Brazilian porcupine would be awesome. But there is probably just one place for a rodent if any and then it should be the mara.Best Latin America pack has to have 1 of these. Prove me wrong.

I would actually be more excited to see the porcupine than the mara, forget representation of every area I want some adorable indoor habitat animals.Best Latin America pack has to have 1 of these. Prove me wrong.

I would be happy with both honestly, but in my mind the porcupine is just a tad bit better. They could both be really important species though and I would by no means be dissapointed with the mara.I would actually be more excited to see the porcupine than the mara, forget representation of every area I want some adorable indoor habitat animals.
For representing South America yes, but for coolness factor, porcupine takes the win (imo). But there is probably just one place for a rodent if any and then it should be the mara.
Honestly besides tropical house birds, getting some more tropical house mammals and reptiles would be nice too.I would actually be more excited to see the porcupine than the mara, forget representation of every area I want some adorable indoor habitat animals.
I know this is not saying much, but seeing how much South America stuff is left out right now is just painful. Though I bet if everyone made a breakdown of their continents you could probably still convince me lolSouth American representation needs so much
- Primates:
- So many zoos keep South American monkeys, and there are so many interesting and adorable picks to choose from. Tamarins are colorful, cute, extremely common in zoos, and conservation icons. I think they are one of the best options to add and underrated because some people don't think their animations would work. The golden lion tamarin is a popular and personal favorite, but there are a bunch of other great species, such as cotton-top tamarins, emperor tamarins, and marmosets, that could use that animation set. If I'm wrong and they aren't possible for whatever reason, there are still a bunch of cool options for South American monkeys. The black howler monkey is somewhat common in zoos, has been popular for a long time, could use the chorus behavior, and has interesting sexual dimorphism. Geoffroy's spider monkeys would be awesome to watch on the brachiating frames, and they come in brown, black, rust, and cream. Tufted capuchins and squirrel monkeys are pretty common in zoos, and the latter is also popular here. Both seem like low-hanging fruit that would be nice to have in the game, but I hope we get the first three. Sakis are less popular but pretty common in zoos. Uakaris are a pretty odd oddball. Night monkeys, woolly monkeys, and titis also exist.
- Birds:
- I don't really count the king penguin as a South American animal. This region needs birds more than any other. I would start with at least one of the pink trio: the American flamingo, roseate spoonbill, and scarlet ibis. They're all pretty strong. The rhea is also popular for Patagonia. Most people would be pretty happy with those two, but there are also white-faced whistling ducks, other waterfowl, brown pelicans, curassows, trumpeters, jabiru, seriema, and screamers just to name a few that are brought up frequently for habitat birds. Macaws and toucans are some of the most popular options for WE/aviary birds. The harpy eagle, Andean condor, and burrowing owl are also popular contenders for aviary raptors. I may also dream of hoatzins, quetzals, hummingbirds, and conures, but so many people, myself included, would be thrilled with even just macaws in a walkthrough exhibit.
- South American Tropical Houses (mixed species areas):
- The first thing these areas typically need would be birds, and while one of the pink trio and macaws would help greatly, even more birds are necessary to build good tropical areas, especially for variety. I would want at least a second member of the pink trio; at least one waterfowl, including the white-faced whistling duck with its high prevalence in zoos; at least one curassow; and maybe a trumpeter for variety. Agoutis are an extremely popular small mammal to cover the ground. For the water, an Arrau turtle could swim beneath a waterfall, and perhaps the dwarf caiman's space needs could be reduced. Although no one really expects them anymore, the river giants (arapaima, catfish, pacu, and Arowana) are pretty popular and iconic for such spaces. We can already drop down the sloth for an arboreal species, but I'd also want some monkeys, especially tamarins and perhaps marmosets. Not all of these animals are the most popular, but they're kind of needed for tropical houses, which would be very fun to build.
- Non-Tropcial South America
- Patagonia: The rhea and mara are brought up frequently as the primary staples for this unrepresented region. Some people would also like to see Argentine tegus, which would be pretty cool in a habitat. The burrowing owl would be an awesome option for a bird.
- Andes: The spectacled bear is one of the two missing bear species and is one of the most popular animals on the forums. It would probably go over with a casual audience, and they are one of if not the biggest icons of the region. In the skies above, the Andean condor is another icon but for conservation. These huge birds would be cool, but I think they'd need something bigger than a WE. For smaller mammals, pudu come up sometimes as an interesting ungulate option and a chinchilla or viscacha would be pretty cute.
- Non-primate small mammals:
- Coatis are about tied with tree kangaroos as the most requested small mammal on the forums. They are fairly common in zoos, and cute enough to be popular even if not everyone might know of them right away. There are two pretty popular species, and while I prefer the South American, I would not mind if the white-nosed was added later. Ocelots are the most popular option for a small cat and are decently well-known. They'd probably be popular with a casual audience, too. Maras and agoutis are two important rodents that are also common in zoos. Tamanduas and bush dogs are perhaps not as essential or common in zoos as the first four, but they are pretty popular as well. I'm personally really hoping for tamanduas. Brazilian porcupines are another adorable option. All three would be pretty good oddball picks, which South America doesn't really have right now. South America really needs more small mammals.
- Caribbean and Coasts:
- Manatees, sea turtles, brown pelicans, the pink trio, and perhaps a South American fur seal are great options for Caribbean and coastal sections.
- Other exhibit critters:
- The emerald tree boa, blue poison frog, and green anaconda are popular on the exhibit metawishlist and I've seen them many times in zoos. Eyelash vipers and mata mata turtles are popular, too. We already have a lot of 4x4 animals for this region, but I still want to see more.
As much as that would be an incredible pack (replace the Martin with the Markhor though) definitely not in favor over latin America.Allow me to break the silence.

Yea I've been saying this for a while, I think this line of thinking applies to Oceania and Eurasia as well.Honestly considering we were all so far off base with the last dlc I wouldn’t be shocked if it is once again nothing like we predicted.
Last year I remember talking about domestics/ children’s zoo animals, could it be a coincidence? Maybe, but I also wouldn’t be surprised if Frontier has been planning things out for a long time. It’s probably a “ship turns slowly” type of deal. So either it’s one of the popular themes from last year, or in general one of the more popular themes. While it doesn’t rule out another South America pack, part of me thinks it won’t be.
Here were some of the themes I remember talking about:Yea I've been saying this for a while, I think this line of thinking applies to Oceania and Eurasia as well.
Desert / middle east - arid and partially grasslandsHere were some of the themes I remember talking about:
I don’t know if anyone else remembers what else was discussed.
- Islands - Oceania and Tropical
- Coastal - nothing yet …..
- Forest/Rainforest/South America (a lot of it was due to Tropical only having one SA animal) - Tropical
- Mountains - got a number of animals in the Eurasia Pack
Temperate Forests or just Temperate pack that people talked about was basically complete last year between Eurasia and Oceania with kiwi, tassie, wild boar, wisent, swan... Just missing the ABB and some fowl.Desert / middle east - arid and partially grasslands
Temperate forest - nothing yet although Eurasia kind of included some
This is such a fun pack! But man oh man would this be a bummer of a final pack considering what it would leave out... Outside of that context, though? This is pretty fire.Allow me to break the silence.

I think it's probably just a coincidence. Frontier tends to stick to the meta wishlist for most DLC. It feels like for the last two years the team looked at the wishlist, sorted out pairings of animals in the top 10-20 and went from there... Which is probably why the current list feels pretty "loaded" with Latin American animal species honestly. Because the top tier animals, until very recently, haven't been from that region.Last year I remember talking about domestics/ children’s zoo animals, could it be a coincidence? Maybe, but I also wouldn’t be surprised if Frontier has been planning things out for a long time. It’s probably a “ship turns slowly” type of deal. So either it’s one of the popular themes from last year, or in general one of the more popular themes. While it doesn’t rule out another South America pack, part of me thinks it won’t be.
This would be such a fun DLC and update! Only thing to say is that I don't think they could change the exhibit type for any animals (e.g., iguanas in bigger) as being ONLY in the new type because then it would mess with existing maps. They'd just have to add it as an option (which, honestly, would be kinda nice and offer even more flexibility). So going off the idea I had yesterday, a dlc with an accompanying free update for the exhibit/ WTE I just wanted to flesh it out a bit more. I imagine it would work similar to how the Grasslands pack worked, where one animation set would be used for similar models. Obviously some changes would be in the textures, colors, sounds, etc. regardless this pack would have higher than average species. The main focus would be on some of the changes made with the free update, with focus on making the exhibit boxes and WTE more engaging for players. (Also this is a pipe dream, so I had no desire to make it realistic)
So be prepared I intend to make this a much longer post.
Insert DLC Title here (First set of animals are for the current exhibit box(es))
Insert name of dlc here (This is the segment which contains the WTE animals)
- First off I would like to add some fish, I’m going with Red Belly Piranha, African Cichlids, Discus, and Banded Archer Fish
- For the first major change I will get into, we get the large exhibit box which will also contain the Green Anaconda, Alligator Snapping Turtle, and the Mata Mata turtle
So in total there would be 24 species, but while that is admittedly a lot there is a way to break it down to be more digestible:
- Now for the first set of mammals the tamarins! Which contains the Golden Lion Tamarin, Emperor Tamarin, and the Cotton Top Tamarin
- The next mammal was the one we wanted, the Two Toed Sloth
- The second set to no one’s surprise, is the Macaws. Scarlet, and Hyacinth
- Following that is the small parrots, which contain the Rainbow Lorikeet, Monk parrot, and Fischer’s lovebirds
- Then we have the wild pigeon on species, which contains the Nicobar Pigeon, and Bleeding Heart Dove
- I have no idea what to call this group, but they move fairly similarly. Only varying in size. Toco Toucan, Green Aracari, Yellow Billed Hornbill, and the Rhinoceros Hornbill
- Finally for some other small WTE birds, we have some passerines. This would have the Gouldian Finch, and Sociable Weaver
So in total I only imagine 8 or so new rigs are needed, that way we could go from there. I tried to pick bird species that are usually held by themselves, so you wouldn’t really see a lot of species mixing in this update, with the exception of the pigeon/doves. I was originally thinking of some “x-large WTE” but that seemed almost too hard considering the stuff I wanted in the free update and all the species I thought of. I also left a lot out, which made me have to delete a lot and try over again.
- The fish will all act on the same animation/ rig, with basic schooling. Likewise I chose all freshwater species so they can fit into into the current freshwater exhibit box
- Likewise the turtles also use the same rig
- The tamarins will be the same
- The macaws will be the same
- The small parrots are the same
- Pigeons/ doves are the same
- The “large bill” birds will be the same, covalent evolutions sure comes in handy!
- Likewise the passerines birds are close enough (I’m using the word “same” a lot)
- The anaconda and sloth will be pre-existing animations and rigs, so it’s a bit cheating but whatever.
Here would be the free update:
If anyone can think of any other birds/ animals to add in feel free to weigh in. I spent way too much on what would be an ultimately niche dlc.
- Exhibit sizes now come in sets of 3. Small, medium (current size), and large.
- Moved the yellow anaconda and iguanas to the large exhibit. Added a new forest and swamp large exhibit type.
- Moved most of the Invertebrates and some of the amphibians to the small exhibit type.
- Added new baby model for the sloths, bats, and tamarins. The baby will stick to the mother until it is an adult. Added a new “cocoon” box for the butterflies. The cocoon box can also be placed manually outside of the WTE.
- For WTE added new nest boxes, which can contain eggs.
- Pathway for WTE can now be placed in 3 spots in the exhibit. Middle is the default, but either side can work. Pathway can also be manually turned off.
- New guest interaction for feeding the small parrot species. Which can be used by placing a new stand type in front of the WTE. This can also be placed outside the butterfly WTE.
- Changed guest behavior so guests walk through the WTE at lower rates.
- WTE and WTH can now charge for an extra price.
