A Concierge chair + a Chris plushie will fix everything...

CIG's recent tribunal loss made the gaming press. Unfair dismissal tied to their attempts to end WFH and get people into the shiny new office.

The guy in question was a Senior Programmer who worked on 'resource allocation, docking, jump travel' etc (via his linkedin).

There's some classic CIG in there ;)

CIG, having taken in what is getting to be close to 1 billion and has been in existence for 12 years, is still a startup?

On the other hand, Chris didn't invest in a massive new office just so people could work from home! How else could he tell people which pixels need changing colour?

"couldnt play if i wanted to" even if he sold all his stuff. he could just buy new stuff.

Going by all the other bits and pieces...

He went on to say this though:

Reckon he has cashed out in one form or another. (And the finality would suggest either grey-market account sale or partial official refund etc I guess?).

I just kinda liked the sass poking out from beneath the fuzz ;)

...He's sold his account, one way or the other.

And that seems to be a burnt bridge for now ;)

Well he's got some $10ks back and he's free now ;)

Thankfully those chairs aren't actually made by CIG and only have branding decals and a 24 month warranty. I doubt that anyone will play SQ42 or a released and stable game of Star Citizen while their back side is supported on one of those Chris Roberts official flimsy thrones.

For slightly less cash you could also buy a decent Herman Millar chair with 12 years of warrany and services which sadly still won't outlast Star Citizen still being "Alpha".

Apparently they are rated only up to 150kg. I'm not sure that is enough.

Some spicy e3.24 trip reports again...

So. A lot of issues I encountered so far.

1. I couldn't open any of my hangar doors to take off. (Bug? Only fixable with account recopy????)

2. Elevators (particularly between my hangar and my party member's hanger) rendered only sky (Orison) and couldn't visually find the panel to open the door and escape the elevator once arrived at destination

3. When calling my ship, for some reason I could see my party member's ship from his other hanger down below on the elevator and both ships started colliding with eachother, going crazy.

4. Somehow my party member had his Corsair and MSR both spawning at the same time in his hangar (weird).

5. Gear and Freight Kiosks: Dragging items from Storage to Drawer/Elevator sometimes would FREEZE

6. Seraphim elevators (ie. between Galleria and Habs) could not be called

7. LOTS and LOTS of server 30Ks, Recoveries (successful) and Crash to Desktops (client unresponsive) issues...

8. Various subscriber and player pledge items (decorations) could not be interacted with physically when called into the personal hanger from the freight elevator.

9. Audio still not isolated between hangar instances (ie. could hear others' activities)

10. Major choppiness going from Habs to Spaceport on Orison along the public shuttle route.

Greycat ROC powertrain/physics fixed! (1.5years later)

Thoughts:

1. My hangar and all eligible destination hangars should show at the top of the elevator panel as choices

2. I see no real need for gear stations with drawers that just adds extra steps for managing character inventory.

3. Gear/Storage UI needs major work still.

This guy wrote another lengthy one, but the pull quote would be...

- Areas around the new freight elevators at outpost are prone to falling through the planet.

PS almost everyone hates the new drawer faff...
