DLC18 discussion and predictions

Uh we are talking plants?
Completly agree that South america needs more and tropical plants in general could use a touch up and i know that i am a filthy european for saying this but man if i could choose one just one plant to come to the game, its 100% lavender
How is it not in the game yet? Its a popular garden and landscaping plant, would bring propaply the most iconic mediteranean plant to the game that isnt an olive tree and it would work just so well to get a few differently sized and shaped patches of them, similar to many of the base game small plants like the nettle.
Its even a very enviromental friendly plant as bees LOVE them so it would have fit perfectly into conservation but oh well no lavender for me

I'm Surprised No-one Has Brought Up The Idea Of A Herbivore Animal Pack And A Carnivore Animal Pack. They Seem So Obvious Yet Haven't Been Talked About.
When I was thinking of “how I would do the packs” for a different thread I had this idea. I had the wallaby, oryx, peccary and armadillo in 1 and the Tasmanian devil, maned wolf, marten and ground hornbill in the carnivore one.

Speaking of temperate trees, I really want some proper beech trees for NZ. I keep using Google Earth for reference on my current zoo and I see these guys everywhere, especially rising into the canopies and adding some height to background forests. They’re very distinct from the NA beech trees in game and my park just feels like something’s missing without them. There’s quite a few different options for species. The silver beech is probably my first pick but I’ll take any.

After thinking a bit i would like some of the really common houseplants. Because i always see them at zoos, be it in tropical houses, terrariums or just general decoration in indoor areas. And pretty much everyone should be familiar with these, even without knowing the names.
Pothos, dracaenas, ficus' just to name a few.

Oh my god I would eat these up. They look so yummy and would go everywhere - and I mean everywhere. Small common houseplants wouldn’t really be restricted to many regions, budgets, or even themes in some cases. Honestly just give me more tiny plants in general. I remember having some ZT2 mods for these dudes and they went all over the place.

Unironically these could be a highlight of a pack for me. I’m salivating just thinking about them.

Me rn:

I mean, are they really? Yes I get ones from Japan and the other sounds unique but you still build for them the same as you would for example the moose or any other ungulate.
If we get more ungulates they don't necessarily have to have a different build style because that's kinda a weird argument and is being applied really selectively, they need to also be a useful addition to the region such as the blackbuck

Yeah i mean they already kinda started it with the monstera plant back in the day.
But to be fair most of these can get pretty huge, which would be even better so you could have a tiny, medium and big version of each

I'm resisting the urge to explain all the different ways to build habitats for these examples, each and every new zoo I build has new and exciting ways to build for ungulates.

I've said it many times before and I'm sure I'll say it many times in the future - I'm desperate for more eucalypts. For temperate Australia your tree options essentially boil down to nothing but stringybark trees and the occasional silky oak, and any additional temperate eucalypt would be revolutionary for me at this point.

(river red gum, blue gum, swamp gum and manna gum are the ones shown above, just a few of many many options)

In regards to other local plants, grass trees would also go a long way in making Australian builds feel more authentic - they're just such an iconic part of the bushland landscape.

I could see next pack being a coastal/latin america pack, with a final pack in spring ending the game with 20 dlcs and 20 content updates.

Coastal Animal Pack:
[REASON WHY, Last pack was a theme pack, the other last pack was a region, so I think this one will be a biome pack!!!]
  • Pacific Walrus [A very wanted pinniped for the game!]
  • Nene [A unique bird for Hawaii!]
  • Southern Rockhopper Penguin [Brings another very iconic and last penguin for the game]

  • Atlantic Puffin/Tufted Puffin [Brings a sea bird that is beloved in many areas]
  • Great White/Brown Pelican [Finally brings a pelican]
  • Manatee/Sea Turtle/Roseate Spoonbill [Manatee/Sea turtle brings one beloved and new feature while spoonbill brings a beloved bird]

This game will always need more plants and I stand by my sentiment that smaller, scenery-focused packs would have been the way to get some of these in-game and would have been popular among builders with the right combo of plants and scenery. Global Gardens could have been a GOATed 75-piece scenery DLC. It is a good idea and I stand by it.

Anyway... I forget who mentioned it but somebody recently pointed out that the JWE2 SteamDB has been stone silent since the last DLC. No movement whatsoever. I don't know why but I never thought to check that and uh, yeah, that game's got to be done. Just in time to start the next sequel. :ROFLMAO:

they need to add mammoths and Smilodon to the game

Any palms would be a thumbs up at this point.
Still I long for my traveller's palm for recreating Madagascar 🥲🥲
Traveller's tree isn't a true palm (closer to a bird of paradise or bananas), but yeah, that and the Bismarck palm are the more common Madagascan plants I know.

I've seen Golden cane palms & Triangle palms. Don't think I've seen Majestic palms or Sugarcane palms, but they sound common.

Decarya & Alluaudia are some interesting Madagascan plants, though here in Adelaide they're in the palm house in the botanic gardens, so not I'm not sure if they're harder to keep.
