DLC18 discussion and predictions

The majority of players don't actually use those third party resellers, the practise behind them isn't exactly the most secure way of keeping that dlc with lots of stories about dlc keys magically disappearing overnight. For me, I bought all the dlc from steam at full price so the way frontier manages this (or doesn't) is really important for me to consider moving to a sequel. I believe a good chunk of animals from dlcs are going to be locked behind dlc possibly years after release, the only and only reason I would accept this is full aquarium support, anything less and I stick with the first game.
i feel like frontier is gonna use the bait method, and add flying birds while also making us rebuy all the animals from the first game with some animals that didn't get in before first games ending
just need more birds and primates and I dont see me buying a Planet Zoo 2 in a while

Tinfoil hat theory, we got the quokka rather than the tree kangaroo since someone thought it would be a great idea to use the tree kangaroo as encouragement for pz2.

just saying the statue of quokka, and rig seems like tree kangaroo, they were 100% gonna give us tree kangaroo which was gonna make oceania one the great packs but some genius said why not use tree kangaroo as a way so the pz1 players have a reason to go to pz2 and rebuy all dlc animals
[please tell me if im wrong]

I would definitely prefer the mirroring tool over scaling. Having the ability to make certain things symmetrical would be so great, scalings good but its too overwhelming for me, maybe for stuff like lettering, foliage, rocks and signs it would be good but I can't see me wanting to go super detailed by scaling so many things.
Yeah scaling is something that definetly come in handy in alot of scenerios, but it would also push the building complexity and skill ceiling through the roof, which would be very daunting.
I would definetly want i for signs and fonts + art shapes tho

According to the rules you aren't allowed to "personally attack other forum users." So please delete this immediately. Because. I. Feel. Attacked. By. This. Post. :ROFLMAO:

Seriously, though. I'm pretty convinced the quokka replaced the tree kangaroo too. Though I think it's more so they could save it for another pack when they realized Oceania already had two heavy-hitters, a cute bird, and they could replace it with a cute animal the people on the Internet love.

And, honestly, whenever I think about this all I can see/hear is the CEO's face saying "the adorable quokka" as if everybody was going to know exactly what he was talking about.

It's definitely daunting. But the freedom with fonts, foliage, and art pieces would be really nice. I'm sure some people would get aggressive with it and do super detailed builds but most would just build as planned and use it to fix smaller things. There's so many little ways scaling could be used to help builds along it's hard to not want it for me (e.g., shrinking a bush slightly so the leaves don't push through the wall next to it).

I've always felt like it would be a really great end of development feature because it would sort of be a way to "hand the keys" over to the community, so to speak. Especially if we aren't getting a TMTK...

Oh god please no

Why not? Adding a feature like that is never a bad thing. If people don't like it? They don't need to use it. But people who want it... Can. Nobody loses.

The way I look at it, even if people don't want to mess with it? There's plenty of other people who will go buck wild with it and I can just download that stuff from the workshop. Haha. More options means a more vibrant community full-stop.

Yeah but the aquatic pack is very much about the deep diving feature, which i guess counts for the buffalo but thats a very big stretch. Which is also why im sure stuff like ducks, pelicans or wading birds were never in the cards for aquatic
Hey a tapir could of been an option or the moose they can dive ungulates can fit any pack idea if you trey hard enough.

The more I think about it the more im certain they wont give us all the animals right away they would just be limiting themselves on pack ideas because they would have to add a bunch of animals to the base game to make it worth it and if the add planet zoos original roster on top of that dlc ideas begin to be really limited.
I will however never forgive frontier if even a single animal does not return to the sequel

Guys, you cannot be serious.

Quokka: Basically a shrunken down wallaby.

Tree kangaroo: Requires a whole new set of climbing animations in a climbing system Frontier clearly tries to avoid dealing with.

The quokka did not "replace" the tree kangaroo. Every single pack is mostly clones and Oceania is no different. Kiwi, quokka, penguin. The special one was the devil, and they didn't even put that much effort into it (sounds). They chose the quokka because it's a meme and it was easy and that's all there is to it. The tree kangaroo was probably briefly considered and then thrown into the "Too Hard" basket.

I thought that was based on the quokka having some chimp climbing files?
