So . . . . Type 8 eh?

It is a good versatile ship. A lot more cersatile than the Python MK II. But no ship is worth ARX for FOMO access. The prebuilt ones are a bit of a different story.....for new players getting a quickstart. As a seasoned player I rather wait for the ship to be fully released for credits and then kit it to my liking.
As far as I know, any ship can be outfitted to your liking.
But that's not the point. The situation with the new ships is strange. You will receive a Python Mk2 on August 7 and it will be a new ship for you.

A new ship that I could already plan out due to the early release and have all modules except the armor for it ready, engineered in storage.

Oh, I will be buying it, just not testing it for anyone else!

I actually think I might reset my commander and either play from the start with the Type 8, or start with nothing and work my way up to it. The bit I like most with Elite is the start where you are scrabbling about to afford the next fuel let alone the modules or a new ship. It will give me a chance to see how much easier the engineering is as well.

I did that earlier this year. It was a lot of fun, but I'm in no hurry to do it again. It's absurdly easy to generate enough credits to make suits/weapons, and small ships/modules/hardpoints accessible within a few hours. I still found myself consciously choosing to not buy a new ship despite being able to afford it to keep that feeling going for a bit.

Doing it with a Type-8 as the first ship may actually help with the feeling you want as the cost of running and upgrading it will be that much higher from the get go, particularly if you go for the Basic version, rather than the Stellar.

I've got it from this video on youtube. Later will be able to check that personally, already bought one.

Nothing pre-engineered from the looks of it? That's an... interesting choice. Or am I getting the Stellar editions confused with the Jumpstart ships?

I know we can't store modules from these Stellar/Jumpstart ships, but is it possible to sell the modules for 0 credits or replace them?

It's not an absolute dealbreaker in any case, since buying the Stellar editions unlocks buying the ship for credits and I'm pretty sure one can apply the associated cosmetics in the Livery section. I'm mostly interested in the T-8's Stellar edition paintjob, it's got that classic Chris Foss aesthetic I really like.

I did the same thing, I think. The jumpstart ones do come with engineering. But the store page still doesn't break it down for you which I think is a bit weird. You can inspect the load-out in a bit more detail by taking a peek at the in-game store, though.

I haven't bought a pre-built (yet) to personally test, but I was under the impression you are able to dump a module to replace it with another module you've purchased using credits.

Yes, I had a look at the bounty hunting Jumpstart Vulture on the store page just to check, and there was no info about what modules or engineering it has. A most puzzling oversight!

Here's what the T-8 Stellar comes with, just for anybody else who shows up here curious:

No, nothing engineered, same as with Stellar Python MK2.

Sure, no problem selling those (for 0 Crs) and replacing with anything we want. But here comes my favorite feature about those Stellar ships from ARX: when we want to "reset" ship back to initial A-rated modules, we just store our modules, "selling" ship for 0 Crs then buying it back (for 0 Crs) and all initial A-rated modules are there. And all that is possible at any shipyard in the Gallaxy.

Nice, how does it fly? Asking for a friend who's stuck in a festival cabin until later tonight :(

Haven't bought it yet. I'm still agonizing over it.

I'm working up builds in EDSY and thinking to myself seriously, "Would I actually truly ever use this, or would I just hop into my Phantom? Class 4 PD is awfully anemic for 6 weapons, and no matter what I do in this game I will probably end up in a fight... 🤔"
