It's possible. But I still don't understand about the wings and better atmospheric flight.
For example MARS has a rarefied atmosphere and there are very strong winds ... in those winds, wings are more of a hindrance than a help.
I think you should ask FDevs to be sure. Because what is clerar for me, or someone else probably won't be the same for you.
For me it is obvious, I feel the difference flying different ships especially in glide, what is important when I am landing to find good biology spot. So I take this information as a face value, and even if Frontier thinks about dense atmospheres, more bio etc. in the next 2 years this is good idea if they think about proper ships right now; but at the same moent they don't want to create early promises, because after Odyssey they learned that players read between words even totaly impossible things.

Most of us do, there are some I am unsure of.
It isn't as simple as the people who were entitled to the ship not wanting others to have it.
There are some who have the Cobra mk4 and would be happy to see it made available despite the original deal.
There are some, like myself, who are not entitled to it by that deal who want to see that deal kept as a matter of principle or because we object to the I want it because it is there attitude.
It has wings because in the real world where we live things that fly in the atmosphere have wings. It's a subconscious visual clue that this thing flies. That's how artistic design works. Don't overthink the physics bro
Mars has high velocity winds however at that atmospheric pressure I am not sure they could be classified as strong. Despite Hollywood science as shown in the Martian a spacesuited astronaut is probably going to feel as if they were in a breeze on Earth.

A large ship can not dock anywhere in these systems.

NB. Zorgon Peterson who build thePregnant Swallow types as I get it, hardly ever never followed any consistent snake naming scheme (Faulcon did), the Adder, Mamba and FdL being the only exceptions, and Mandalay is just a ridiculous choice of name. Name it Black Snake Moan, King Cobra or whatever instead, not after a city.

Now, explorerconda with all stuff (even SRV) can jump 85 Ly (but for obvious reason it isn't the best ship for exobiology).
For me... more optionals and FSD 6 even if I need to build ship like that from new parts, and jumprange like explorerconda, maybe that big to create new record to beat jumpaconda I think this is some work to balance it, because if you try to put FSD 6 to Asp X (edsy), it jumps like more than 100 Ly XD

For someone spending time calling himself "grown-up" you sure as hell don't behave like one.
On the topic of the Mandalay, the more I look at it the less I like the cockpit positioning relative to that giant belly. I can guesstimate my distance to the belly on the Anaconda because I can see the front. But Mandalay seems like the only ship that has no frontal frame of reference and yet is this thicc.

(oddly, I have a T-8 marked as large on my EDSY).
I.e. there will be 5 FSD and he will be very light ....

Maybe, maybe not - looking at Coriolis.io small ships use size 2,3,4 or 5 FSDs, medium ships use sizes 4 or 5, large ships use size 5, 6 or 7 FSDs. It would not be unreasonable, given that there's a small ship that uses the maximum FSD size used by medium ships currently, for the Mandalay to use a Size 6 FSD.
