She's a beauty! (New ship revealed--Mandalay)

More than likely. However when it comes down to fitting on a medium pad, I'm more willing to go for some kind of retractable or rotating wing than anything that needs a rework on how station landing works.

Especially given that Diamondbacks and Alliance ships (possibly more, but those stick out to me) have rotating parts when landing gear is deployed.

A lot of ships has movable parts.
And foldable wings you can see at T-10 when you land, so this is just applying that mechanic to the Mandalay and that is it. I don't see any problem here, because that mechanic exists in other ship.

Of course you're right - the only thing that bugs me is I can't see any obvious end line after the landing engines where the wing can fold. The wing would have to pop out a bit and then go up.

EDIT
The wing would have to break somewhere here, but in all the illustration so far it looks tight

Or it will have a ridiculously lightweight hull for its size, just like the Anaconda.
I really hope not.

My bet is that that's what will be the case. I don't consider it impossible that they will go with the class-6 FSD (that would make it the medium-ship equivalent to the DBX, which technically has a "one size too big" FSD for a small ship, to give it a ridiculously large jump range), but I find it somewhat unlikely.
As long as they don’t force us to fit a smaller scoop than the FSD like the DBX does.

It has wings because in the real world where we live things that fly in the atmosphere have wings. It's a subconscious visual clue that this thing flies. That's how artistic design works. Don't overthink the physics bro 😅
This is one of the things I like about the original designs, they don't conform to 20th C expectations. Our ships already have magic thrusters that can overcome any gravity, God forbid you'd have to equip your ship right to tackle a certain planet. I think that's "unfair and inaccessible" or something. 🤪

I hope it has a Boost Multiplier similar to the Vipers, FDL and Mamba.
Could do with a new boost flip boost ship.
:)

If thats true would it be the first ship to land sideways?
When it was suggested for the first time I just considered it a joke. However, the more I think about it, the more plausible it's starting to sound.

(Of course it's unlikely they will implement that because I'm assuming it would require quite some coding to make it work properly. But at least in principle I don't see much problems in it. At least in theory it could work nicely. Although launching (without the autodocking computer) might require some getting-used-to.)
