DLC18 discussion and predictions

Yep, totally possible but that does not take away from the need for Frontier to discuss a pro or con decision internally.

On a different note, it's wild for me that people think PZ2 isn't a given, just because Frontier was vague in their response. They absolutely NEVER even hinted Planet Coaster 2 until last month, so very close to release.
This company usually does not confirm any game before they got a release date that can be narrowed down to a year and a season (e.g. fall 2024).

So without confirming anything there was in Frontier style no other choice as to say "we know nothing".
And as I said, I don't think confirming PZ2 now would kind of hurt PC2. The theme park nerds are happy of course, but at the end of the day Frontier also tries to get other players on board with the game, including zoo nerds. All of us who are on the fence about dabbling into coaster would back off way more easily if Frontier said: "We are working on a sequel and this Feature is our main selling point!"
I mean, c'mon, it's "bad" as it is for them already. We all look at PC2 news and think "oh, I can't wait to have this in PZ."
It potentially hurts PZ1 DLC sales as well, so yeah, certainly incentive to brush it off until the time comes.

They said there's no obvious sequel direction, which isn't the case for animals, though I could kind of believe that for scenery.

In terms of stuff they could do, there's Aviary, Aquarium, Native American, Mexican, maybe a third African set, maybe Central Asian?, maybe Antarctic bases, but beyond that you're going for maybe Playground, Veterinary/Hospital, Museum, Hospitality, or even Air Travel/Airport theming, getting further and further from the core ideas of a zoo.

So in short words, planet zoo is still profitable to frontier after 5 years?
I dont mind at all if it ends this year. We got support for 5 years and we have plenty cool animals.
The only sad thing is frontier is still tied to do annual f1 games.
I might be wrong, but I'm pretty sure they were only contracted for the 3 yearly F1 games, with 2024 from July being the last one, and I don't think they continue support with DLC or anything like that.

Zoos are evolving in the real world. Hotels, VIP encounters etc. are a thing. I'm sure they know that.

They mentioned in some place it was only 3 years? I hope its true because for me annual games only drains studio resources, money and time for other things. And I doubt dlcs due any of the past games got dlcs. And I saw the 2022 game was removed from steam!

Why do the ambient pigeon in Planet Coaster 2 look like they skedaddled over from Zoo tycoon 2? 😵

Doves are in Planet Coaster as ambient animals, so that's disputed. IIRC there's a rollercoaster or ride called the hornet, is there not? Then, moray and coral doubtless relate to items in Planet Coaster 2. I'm assuming vulture will also be something to do with Coaster, a prop perhaps for a Wild West theme, and mamba also seems reminiscent of a coaster or ride (lemming, too). There are plenty of disputes.

The only ones that seem to definitely point to something Zoo related are civet, Hamadryas, and Goodfellow, especially the latter two which are way too specific to be anything else (and then civet is a pretty niche word, so).
I know next to nothing about planet coaster and dont own the game so cant check for those but if doves definitely are ambient animals then sure they can be removed from the list i only based it on what I know from planet zoo.

Looking into it I was wrong, they're still locked in for a 2025, but after then it seems to be over.

From the 2022 Annual results announcement: "I am particularly pleased with initial player engagement with F1® Manager 2022, since this is a major new sports franchise for Frontier, with annual titles scheduled for at least the next three years (2023, 2024 and 2025). "

Yeah, that raises a whole different issue. You're presenting a list of words but only referring to Zoo, which is kind of misleading. I've seen someone do this on Reddit as well, getting a whole lot of folks over there excited for things that probably aren't coming. I don't know if it's you on Reddit, too, but you should add the disclaimer that the PlanCo language was originally created for Planet Coaster and is shared between the two games, so any, even all the words listed, could refer to concepts that have nothing to do with Zoo at all.

No its not me on the reddit but I also made no claim that this included planet coaster I just said that there are no mentions in planet zoo to these animals maybe the choice of words such as undisputed may have been misleading but this was not my intent.

After looking at the dates every one of the remaining animals in that list were in fact added to the dictionary years after planet coaster stopped development January 2024 for the earliest entries and april for the latest. So my lack of knowledge on planet coaster did not matter and looking back at how I came to that list I did consider information about planet coaster based on what other people at the time were saying just none of my own research.

Everyone kind of ignoring the word Impala is also in there. Was that world confirmed to refer to something from Planet Coaster? Because if not is as specific as hamadryas and goodfellow and we should consider the Impala as likely as those two.

Ngl impala would really be a dud for me, like honestly i cant think of anything id dislike more in a final pack. If you just HAVE to have another african ungulate in the final pack just do something thats atleast a little unique from the rest of the crowd like an eland, dik-dik,duiker or barbary sheep.

Ofcourse i do get the need for quick and simple reskin animals in a pack but for the love of god why wouldnt you do the blackbuck instead? Its probaly equally simple to make, is more requested by a mile and would nicely fill an open niche instead of adding yet another to the heaping pile of midsize african antelopes

I'd like to remind everyone of this little bit of info:
Original PlanCo words: hybrid, cobra, kraken, dinosaur, tick, parrot, raven, fish, pigeon, rat
Based on @Milurian post Imma check timeline.

Oct 2, 2023: last record before PZ-centric update
Jan 27, 2024 All animals up to Europe Pack are present with this update + : ant, crow, fly, howe, baboon, bee, civet, dolphin, lemming, macaw, eagle, lovebird, mammoth, dove, hedgehog, moth, mouse, python, termite, unicorn, vulture, impala, duck, hornet

29 April. 2024: Big Update. Frontier adds dictionary to PZ site and update everything up to Barnyard Pack.
With said update appeared: goodfellow, secretary, hamadryas, coral, moray, eel, echidna, mamba
IMO, I think it's safe to assume that the April 2024 additions are probably the only ones to really be worth looking at. Coral, moray and eel are probably PLANCO2, mamba could be either, and the other four might be the best ones to look at rn.

Though, I ain't gonna hold my breath for anything until the announcement, whenever that'll be.

I mean i'm with you. I mean, i personally like the Impala but not for a final pack. Is more base game material for the sequel. But what i'm saying is that of there isn't any in Coaster that could explain that word in the dictionary then it has the same chances as the baboon and tree ro. Is like we ignore it on purspose because we don't want it to take a spot in the last pack but is such as likely 😂

Considering when it was added to the dictionary, it may have been a cut species that still got a translation, similar to how "Howe" was added at the same time.

I'm sorry that if the impala is finally added to the game, it will be a failure for you. I also really like the blackbuck, although I've seen it less often. It would be a great addition as an antelope from Asia/India. For me, the impala is a very emblematic animal of Africa that appears in almost all the documentaries I've seen, and in my case I would welcome it regardless of the space it takes up.
