I was under the impression they were actually quite rare in zoos compared to other lemurs, but I haven't actually looked at any data on it either. Anecdotally, I don't remember ever seeing any and I've been to a few big zoos over the years around the world.

They are, coquerel has 19 holdings worldwide, crowned 8 and there is 1 holding of von der deckens in africa

Wheter or not they are iconic probably depends on who you ask. Personally i never heard of zoobomafoo before it came up here in regards to the sifaka, so i cant really say its an iconic animal to me

I meant more of their general appearance being iconic at least amongst primates, they are rare in zoos.

Well we won't know until the announcement, we haven't had this type of "lead" before

This dictonairy "leak" is a good test for people to adjusting their expectations haha. We would never be getting the perfect pack and there's always gonna be some faves left behind. If this was the pack and I would just focus on the animals we do get & not the animals we don't get, then it's a pretty amazing pack, so I'm just gonna focus on that <3.

honestly the Sifaka would be dissapointing because we don't need a 4th lemur at all, but here i am also sometimes suggesting the Aye Aye which would also be a 4th lemur.

I remembered that I had seen a sifaka once so I was searching among my old pics and I found this from the zoo in Paris. I think its a crowned sifaka, it's such a cutie!

Saw them in Paris too! Definitely the highlight of my visit, I'll hopefully see Coquerels very soon!

Maybe Frontier was getting sick of us guessing off the files? I’m just surprised they changed things up so late. Maybe they are trying to set the precedent for PC2?

I think the sifaka is good given the uniqueness of its motion, but I also hope we get at least one primate from South America... not a single species confirmed thus far is from there and the last pack not having a single south american species would feel horrible. I have faith frontier will at least add the howler monkey/marmoset and the coati. Rhea and spectacled bear would be welcome additions too (maybe the bear could be the anniversary animal instead).

btw how many species do you think the pack will have? Given we already have basically 8 habitat species confirmed this means it is not following the format of an animal pack, so I feel it might have either the amount of 2 animal packs (14 habitat species) or maybe a little less (12 habitat species or so). What do you guys think?

I'm hoping for 13 species, so the game can end on that coveted 200 species mark.

I think confirmed is a little to strong of a word, as some of these still might very well be scrapped animals or regarding planet coaster. Im expecting a normal animal pack with maybe some pieces and/or an additional animal or two on top.

Wait, SIFAKA?! I would much rather get a SA primate but sifakas are my favorite lemurs. And the markhor is also one of my favorite hoofstock species. If all this dictionary stuff is true I'm pretty hyped ngl.

Only 10 AZA zoos have Coquerel's sifakas over here, and that's the only species that I know of in NA zoos

I didn’t vote for sifaka or dik-dik. Guess I’m not part of the community

I meant on the Secretary Bird, Goodfellow's Tree Kangaroo and so on.

That in no way is a reason for support to keep going. There will literally always be an animal in the number 1 slot of the meta wishlist as soon as they take off the current one. Porcupine, Tasmanian devil, Wolverine, all of them were at the top of the meta wishlist at one point in time.

No one said It's a reason to continue the support-- I meant that Froniter defo knows that South America lacks and it would be quite stupid to stop the support without a least giving for the moment the most requested animal.

I'll say what I said before; don't try to read into it too much It's just a repository, it could easily be that a certain commit did not get the right tag.
