DLC18 discussion and predictions

Minimum of 2 years, there's an unannounced CMS (planet series like) game slot in 2026/27 according to the latest financial report.
Aside from common sense, do we actually have any hard confirmation that this itself isn't going to be PZ2? I'm not trying to suggest that it is, just curious if there's any sense of what this might be beyond what it's not.

Part of my list of unfulfilled wishes, I do this as a memorial of what I didn't experience!

I don't think we do, for years now we have been told there were 2 or 3 game slots for new games in fy25-27 but frontier has been vague as always. Obviously 2 of the 3 slots have been announced with pc2 and jwe3, but the last one remains unknown. Common sense in this communities speculation is so sure it has to planet zoo 2 because no birds, aquatics or whatever is the flavor of the week.

On the other side of the argument, which I tried to support earlier this month, is the financial report/presentation mentioned frontier is unsure about the future plans of planet zoo in regards to long term support after console dlcs are done. People say this is obviously a coverup for planet zoo 2 development while others support the idea that frontier is distancing itself from planet zoo into more exciting ventures.

Honestly it's not even common sense, it's just a vague hope. Asking for "hard confirmation" is a bit silly, though, since we didn't get "hard confirmation" of PC2 until the announcement anyway.

There is some logic to expecting PZ2 in 2026/FY27 at the earliest; for one thing the core newer features have already been built (in PC2 - new pathing system, free-draw tools, foliage brush, object scaling, etc.) which means they don't have to be rebuilt, just ported into the Zoo version, and for another pushing ahead with it would make financial sense since PZ has been one of Frontier's biggest money-makers fairly consistently. That said it's pure speculation.

Personally I'm hoping for a 2026 release but I'm not expecting it.

See, to me that doesn't make a ton of sense. There is obviously a market for a zoo builder and Frontier has cornered it. There also aren't a whole lot of other builder games that would have the same broad appeal, beyond perhaps aquariums or a city builder. Some floated ideas - museums or botanical gardens for example - are fairly niche.

I can't imagine a city builder coming out in the next two years - there is an opportunity for it, since Colossal Order and Paradox fumbled Skylines II so hard, but that was only recent. Doesn't feel like enough time for Frontier to put their finger in that pie and get something out for 2027. An aquarium game would be nice, but even then given how they handled water rides in PC2 it seems more logical to package an aquarium feature into a Zoo sequel.

What else could there be? Mini golf makes more sense as a Coaster expansion. I'd love to see a modern take on SimSafari and SimPark, but I'm not so sure about the broad appeal.

* I would really love if this wasn't our last DLC, I can very much read the hints but I keep thinking we have so much content that could be added, even without considering breakthrough features like fish and birds.
Our leaked pack is looking like:
Hamadryas Baboon
Tree kangaroo
Secretary
Dik dik
Sifaka
African spurred
Short beaked echidna
Markhor

Though its only 8 habitat animals, I think we got more animals to this pack so maybe SA and Pallas cat has a chance
