DLC18 discussion and predictions

So because of life I've unfortunately missed all the post-tease discussions for the most part. What has everyone been thinking about this DLC and the future of the game? I'm just thinking we may still have support for even one more pack after this but it's hard to say for sure. We just don't know.

The dictionary was right about the markhor and baboon. I'm just really hopping for the tree kangaroo and spectacled bear. I'm kind expecting the rocky mountain elk too. I hope for hyraxes too. I know zoos house them with geladas, but what about hamadryas.
Seeing how hamadryas baboon do eat small mammals on a semi regular basis keeping them with hyraxes doesnt sound like a good idea to me.
Idk i almost wanna say i have seen examples of a co habitaion of those two somewhere but im not sure

Not
I'll say this again:
Stuff that WE DON'T ALREADY HAVE.
We already have a domestic cattle breed that lives in the mountains, which is why I would never want a yak.
We already have like 6 bears.
We already have Dall sheep, Ibex, Takin, and now we're getting Markhor, which is why I think something like a Barbary sheep would be boring.
We already have llama AND alpaca, which is why I'd hate to get a vicuna or guanaco.
Himalayan Monal is kind of a boring bird and I don't really see myself building whole habitats just for that, but oh well at least it's the only vaguely interesting animal that has been suggested here.
(Marmot is an animal I heavily dislike IRL plus it's just a beaver stripped down of its most interesting features, that is swimming and building dams.)
That’s still a list of things you find boring - you were asked for a list of things that wouldn’t be boring…

Dlc is cool and promising, predictable roster so far but in the good way.
All 3 are good, reasonable choices that add something new and needed to the game (small cat that isnt from the sahara even if they ironically also live in desers, propaply the most popular goat and a much needed second ungulate for the hiymalaya and not just a monkey but also the baboon that 3+ packs refused to give us) and im hopefull as aslong as they dont do an arid and completly focus on asia (which also is fine cause domestic yak, golden pheasent, japanese serow, golden snub nosed monkey and a giant salamander exhibit would still be a banger pack) that wed get the 2 other obvious inclusions of spec bear and alpine marmot as two nice simple addition that do heavy Lifting for their regions and add 2 ice age survivors which is pretty neat (last short faced bear and some of the last rodent megafauna) leaving neatly 2 spots, one for a bird and one for something random, a pheasent and the yellow footed rock wallaby.

All in all im pretty optimistic about the pack and the foundation we got right now allready is enough to say that its gonna be pretty good.

African Leopard still has next to no merit though as its literally a subspecies thats not found in zoos, activly phasing out the last few and was one of the easiest pretend species as we literally have a leopard that isnt even fluffy. It also adds nothing of value to the base game as the 2 things the base game was allready quite saturated on where members of panthera and african animals. Ngl american flamingo would have been fire compared to this.

I mean technically they aren't in the same group so maybe just maybe? I know its a heavy dose of copium but this would be so cool to have in the same pack. Gotta admit I am just ever so slightly disappointed we got the hamadryas instead of gelada, especially if the theme is highlands.

Dude. What? U for real?

You were campaigning hard for the scary-ugly baboon and now you want the gelada? 😂

I think the idear is based on the fact thar a few zoos keep the herbivorous gelada with rock hyraxes und often also barbery sheep

Yeah, aren't caprids the epitome of a mountain ungulate anyway? Rocky MOUNTAIN Bighorn Sheep. MOUNTAIN Goat etc... I'm one of the few that doesn't mind caprids. Even chamois could be cool! that's a caprid, right?
True but since we have 3 pretty normal mountain goats in the ibex, markhor and dall sheep, plus the takin already, so i think you can make a good argument that going with something different is the better option if there has to be another ungulate
