New 2024 Livestream series!

It is interesting that someday FD will be engaged in Clan Hubs for squadrons (bases or stations) that could be developed, invested, receive some bonuses, etc...This is sorely missed.

Hi All :)

Interesting stream, the Mandalay is definitely the next ship I'll be buying! :)

Ascendancy?...I'm very curious about the change from numbered updates to 'worded' updates. I'm presuming the worded updates mean just that in the sense of still free updates to players who have Odyssey?
Okay it's on my mind so I'll say it....are these worded updates going to morph into paid for download content I'm wondering at some time in the near future. Either in Arx or obviously a real monetary value.
My Reasoning....After the update in October will the game then be known as Elite Ascendancy?...or Odyssey...or some combination of both?

Jack :)

Hi :)

You should probably watch their streams, then you would know what this is about:

... ofc since they we had 18.09 - which wasn't named.

The names are just to make you think things are happening. Seems to be working for some ;)

Ah!...I watched most of that previous stream (last months) but for some reason missed the part about the update naming change. :)
So the next update (next month) will be obviously called Odyssey Ascendancy...right. :)

Squadrons? Isn't it forbidden to create new ones?
The point is not that, but that the squadron does not have its own base. A place that can be developed. By the way, the addition of their own minor factions has been disabled for a long time, but there is not enough space. For example, there is a database in which you invest loans and materials, and receive weekly bonuses, build workshops or buildings. In general, the usual Hub for the clan, which can be placed somewhere in your system.

Can we miss these in the game, because they have never been part of it.

There was a time when FCs were going to be Squadron owned bases and social hubs but this idea was abandoned before FCs for everyone not just those who socialise. It was a change I was very happy about.

Players earn billions of credits, have a lot of resources, research data and other things, where should they invest it all??? Sit like a dragon Smaug on his gold?

Why not give squadrons the opportunity, for example, to buy their hub and develop it (or build a ground base, constantly expanding it, to get all sorts of nice things)

So that there is a squadron bank, the opportunity to encourage players on behalf of the squadron, to get some benefits from being in the squadron.

Now the squadrons do not actually give anything except the tag.

Re the original squadron-based FC thingie ...

@Obsidian Ant's recent ED yootoob contained footage including the proposed support / exploration tenders for the FC. I don't know if he was just re-using old video stock or if there is some sort of move to bring these support ships into the game.

EDIT: OK - I didn't know about "stronghold carriers" and their support ships due in PP2, sorry- That long "unlocked" program sent me to sleep so I missed that:

When they originally revealed the PP2 fleets months ago a lot of those vessels looked like the stuff they were talking about before FCs launched.
So it is possible that those old designs are being recycled.

I think the support vessels for the PP 2.0 faction fleet carriers make sense since, as I understood it, those carriers can be damaged or destroyed. Personal fleet carriers are indestructible so no need for support vessels of any kind.

No. You cannot create a Player Minor Faction anymore, which is different from squadrons.
Thank you. It was a question to clarify about the squadron bases.
Do I understand correctly that players belonging to the same squadron can join different Power (PP) and even enemy ones between them?

Hi All :)

Just to recap on the Wednesdays livestream. lets see if I've got this right!....the Mandalay will be released into the game, plus PP 2 on October the 22nd, and the 'New Feature' will be revealed in the following Wednesdays livestream which is on the 30th of October.
The term 'Ascendancy'... I'm still very curious about why this term was used!....especially if there is any connection with the 'new feature'.
Ascendancy roughly meaning ...''A position of power, strength or success'... I suppose this could mean a direct pointer / reference to the new Power Play 2, which seems a logical description.
The new feature though, will it be tied into PP2 in some way, or is it going to be an entirely different kettle o' fish...hmm.

On the Mandalay's 'wings' it shows what to me look like ailerons, or are they just the designers graphical whims...curious. I couldn't see if they were functional in the livestream video footage, but it does pose some more questions!

Jack :)

Edited for grammar.

We have at least one new power ascending on (or around) the 22nd, so I think it's more likely that.

yes they do

So theory crafting elsewhere and I noticed something that stood out.

Zac said it's been designed for flying in atmospheres, but there's currently no difference between tenuous and non atmospheric planets.
So...

Flaps?

Slightly thicker atmospheres on the way..?

The one thing I hope Ascendancy brings more than anything else is a change to the main menu screen. So it stops showing my ship docked in a burning station, telling me it's under evacuation, when I'm nowhere near a burning station.

It was an interesting touch at the start of the war, but it's long past that time now. I miss the reactive menu screens that actually reflected your location.

My pettier instincts just threw the reflex that it was astonishingly on-brand that the title was rendered without antialiasing. :p
...and a second later Arf commented: "It's crisp". :p

Maybe for the feature I didn’t catch that remark but yes that is the date for the next stream.

Or it might just be a name maybe implying that one or other side in the Thargoid war is starting to get the upper hand.

Hopefully it is new in its own right.

Possibly as meaningful as the thrust vectoring flaps on the back of a Cobra which I first saw on the 20th Ruby celebrations.

Could it be that we get some kind of support vessels for our carriers?

IIRC they were planned for fleet carriers but were left out, and now support vessels are coming to the PP carrier groups (can't remember exactly what they are going to be called).
